Maximo
Lisa has had absolutely nothing in this life. I noticed that she has also suffered too much, not only from the visible bruises but also from her lost, cold, and lifeless gaze. I wish I had known her earlier to see her smile at least once.
She is only twenty years old, incredibly beautiful even without a drop of makeup. Any man would be at her feet, willing to please her, but she doesn't believe in love. She doesn't want to get married or anything that every woman plans for her life.
The times I saw a glimmer of excitement in her eyes were because of the revenge she would carry out against my employees. Now she is wounded and fragile, but I know that once she heals and understands her position, she will be relentless. I don't care if someone sues me at the office; I would pay the corresponding fines to remove that heavy burden from her shoulders.
I have the ability to work and plan a thousand things at once, but to help her, some details about this marriage need to be polished. First of all, if I get married in this city, everyone would find out in less than an hour, and the whole country in less than half a day, and that wouldn't help Lisa. That's why I thought about taking her on a trip, getting married in some other city's registry office, and then, when we reveal the marriage, my family will surely prepare a celebration, just like the company. In the worst-case scenario, we would have to get married again in a family ceremony.
I had my future wife's attack investigated, but there is no information. There is nothing on the street security cameras or the closest ones. Everything indicates that it happened inside what used to be her residence. Could it have been her mother? Or maybe her mother's partner? I have no idea, but sooner or later, I will find out, and that person will regret what they did for the rest of their life.
I spent the day with her. In the afternoon, she fell asleep, and I had to wake her up.
"Lisa, it's time for your medicine," I lightly touched her shoulder.
"Mmmm..."
"Lisa, wake up. You need to take your medicine." I gently shook her.
"NOOOOO!" she screamed, completely scared and out of control, trying to sit up while trembling.
"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to frighten you. It's time for your medicine. Just stay lying down; I know you're in pain, but this will help you get better."
"Thank you, I'm sorry."
"Don't worry; everything is fine."
I gave her the medicine and left the room to calm myself down. Her reaction is normal for an abuse victim. I prefer her looking at me coldly or ignoring me, but seeing terror in her eyes and reflected on her face makes me want to understand what happened to her. Was it my employee, the one who was her boyfriend? Maybe that's why she doesn't believe in love.
I ordered dinner and went up to the room with a tray. She was still awake, and I carefully helped her sit up. I ate while glancing at her eating and couldn't understand how she could eat so much. Surely, she had gone through countless hardships.
"Where would you like to go for our honeymoon?"
"Wherever you want, but I think it's too expensive. We could stay here."
"Money is not a problem. Is there any place you've always wanted to visit?"
"You choose; I don't know."
"By the way, when our marriage is announced, we will have to go so that you can meet my family. Perhaps my mother would like to plan a wedding herself; most likely, she would organize a big party. The company will also do the same, but I'll wait until you're ready to announce it and introduce yourself."
"Thank you, but will we have to get married again?"
"I don't know; I never know what my mother might come up with."
"We'll find out eventually," she yawned.
"You're tired; I'll let you sleep. If you need me, shout, I'll be in the room next to yours."
"Thank you, good night Maximo."
"Good night, Lisa."
I left the room and went to rest; it had been an incredibly intense day. I set the alarm on my phone to remind me to take my medication, closed my eyes, and fell into a deep sleep. At two in the morning, the alarm went off and I looked at my phone, confused about why I was in a room that wasn't mine and why I had woken up at that hour. I quickly reacted and went to get a glass of water before heading to Lisa's room to give her medication. She was fast asleep, but woke up startled.
"Lisa, it's time for your medicine," my eyes were heavy.
"What time is it?"
"It's two o'clock. Take it and go back to sleep."
As soon as she took her medication, I returned to my room, threw myself onto the bed, and fell asleep once again.
