Trouble with a capital T

Yes, that Adrian Cross—the campus golden boy. Tousled blond hair that somehow looked styled by angels, a smile too white to be legal, and posture that screamed main character syndrome. Every girl on campus had him plastered across her Instagram feed like a trophy.

He strolled up to the counter, confidence dripping off him like cologne. Ordered his coffee like he owned the shop, the building, and maybe the entire ZIP code.

Olivia frowned, eyes flicking up just long enough to see Adrian flash her a quick, charming smile.

She immediately ducked her head back down, pretending to be way too busy to care.

By the time she got back to the dorm, Stacy was already sprawled across her bed, scrolling through her phone like she owned stock in gossip.

> “You will not believe what happened today,” Stacy said, eyes wide.

Olivia kicked off her shoes.

> “What now?”

> “Adrian’s girlfriend dumped him—live. On social media.”

Olivia blinked.

> “You’re joking.”

> “Nope. Our golden boy’s heart? Absolutely shattered.”

Olivia hid a smirk.

> “Tragic.”

Stacy grinned.

> “Tragic... but kind of iconic.”

The next day on campus, everyone was talking about Adrian’s breakup.

But the golden boy remained golden—walking through the halls like nothing had happened, smile still perfect, charm still dangerous.

> “Lover boy’s heart’s been broken,” Andrew teased.

> “Cut it out,” Adrian muttered, rolling his eyes.

> “Why don’t you try out Cupid Connect?” Sammy chimed in.

> “What’s that?” Adrian asked.

> “It’s an app for finding your soulmate,” Andrew said with a grin. “Let’s see if Cupid can find you yours.”

Adrian scoffed.

> “That’s bullshit.”

> “Then prove it,” Sammy challenged. “Join it. If you’re right, we’ll all admit love’s fake.”

Adrian smirked.

> “Fine. I’ll give it a try.”

That same night, Olivia opened her DMs and froze.

A new username had popped up—one that sounded way too familiar.

But hey, who was she to question it?

GoldenBoy98:

> So you’re the legendary Cupid everyone’s obsessed with?

Cool app, by the way.

Think you can find me someone who won’t dump me live next time? 😏

Cupid:

> I wouldn’t be legendary if I didn’t live up to my name.

I’ll find you your dream girl.

Olivia leaned back, a smirk tugging at her lips.

Goldenboy: Dream girl, huh? Bold claim. Hope you’ve got good taste, Cupid. I don’t do average.

Cupid: Oh, trust me. With that ego, I doubt anyone could measure up.

Goldenboy: Confidence, sweetheart. It’s not ego if it’s true.

Cupid: Sweetheart? You flirt like a 2015 Twitter boy.

Goldenboy: And yet, you’re still replying.

Olivia rolls her eyes but can’t stop smirking. She types another sarcastic line, but before she hits send, she notices her reflection on the laptop screen—flushed cheeks. Oh great, she mutters. Cupid’s catching feelings.

Olivia smiles at herself, a small chuckle slipping out.

Stacy leans over her shoulder.

“What are you laughing at?”

Olivia instantly slams her laptop shut.

“The fuck?”

Stacy blinks, hands up. “What? You were giggling like a psycho, I just wanted to see what’s so funny.”

Olivia narrows her eyes. “Ever heard of privacy?”

“Ever heard of not laughing like a Bond villain at midnight?”

Olivia rolls her eyes, clutching her laptop closer. “You’re so dramatic.”

Stacy grins. “And you’re hiding something.”
