Arrange Marriage With a...GUY!?
Shattered Vase
Calix was happy. Even though the bruise on his cheek hurt when he smiled too much, he kept smiling.
It's such a simple thing— to be happy.
He was only a human, after all. If someone offered him a hand, he would keep it warm with his own blood.
His smile fell when a vase shattered in front of his feet.
Fredrick Diaz
Take off your shoes and come here.
Anger was a stupid thing. Surely, if he begged his father to not make him do this, he would let go, but he didn't want to beg.
He silently took off his shoes and walked on the glass runway prepared by his father without a single sound.
Ego? What good is that? This wasn't Calix's ego, it was the last dreg of his dignity.
His mother ran towards him after seeing the bloody trail.
Anne Diaz
What are you doing? HE IS YOUR SON
Calix Diaz
*holds her hand* Let it be.
Calix Diaz
Please. I don't want him to hit you too.
She broke down crying. It was a terrible sound but he felt numb to it.
Fredrick Diaz
Do you know what you did wrong?
Calix Diaz
I am sorry, Dad.
Fredrick Diaz
Stop saying out so late and whoring around. You are going to be married man in four weeks.
Fredrick Diaz
I saw the car that dropped you.
Calix Diaz
He is my PROFESSOR!
Anne Diaz
Calix, please. Don't raise your voice to your dad.
Fredrick Diaz
*snickers* Atleast one of you still has some brains.
Calix felt dirty under his father's stare. Perhaps, some of us cannot afford even a little happiness.
Fredrick Diaz
You are getting engaged on 18th.
Calix Diaz
*eyes widen* I have a competition that day, dad.
Fredrick Diaz
Drop it. You are no good either way.
Calix Diaz
*grits his teeth*
Anne Diaz
Honey, his legs. He needs to go to the hospital.
Fredrick Diaz
I will ask the driver to take him.
Calix wanted to laugh at the stupid irony. The people who hurt him, can't even bear to see his die.
His mother had the driver pick him up and put him in the car.
When she sat next to him, she took out her phone and typed.
Anne Diaz
He will report everything I say back to your father. Just type what you want to say.
Calix looked at her, his eyes devoid of any emotion.
Anne Diaz
I am sorry for not being strong enough to protect you, my baby.
Calix wanted to cry in his mother's arm. The same arms that dressed his wounds. The same arms that dressed his father's knuckles when he hit him.
That is what he wanted to type but he couldn't. He was so powerless he couldn't even hate the people he wanted to.
In the end, he couldn't even get a heartfelt apology. All he could get were emotionless texts that will deleted in a few seconds.
