Arrange Marriage With a...GUY!?
Library
Ryle was already halfway home from work when he remembered the assignments he had to pick from the school library.
He turned his car around and went back.
There, he caught sight of his student. He frowned and checked his watch. It was already 7 in the evening.
He approached the young man.
Ryle Romanov
Lower your voice.
Calix put a pen in his book to use as a bookmark.
Calix Diaz
Sir? What are you still doing on campus?
Ryle Romanov
That should be my question, no?
Calix Diaz
Uh... I was reading and lost track of time.
That was a lie. He was stalling time. He didn't want to go home.
Ryle Romanov
You shouldn't stay out too late and even if you do, you are still young what are you doing in a library?
Calix Diaz
*smiles* Sorry.
For some reason, Calix felt comforted. Atleast someone cared.
Ryle sat himself down in front of Calix and looked through the books.
Ryle Romanov
Why do you have so many short story collections?
Calix Diaz
I am looking for a suitable author for my thesis.
Ryle Romanov
*smiles without looking up* Hm? What are your standards for a suitable author?
Calix Diaz
I am still looking. The suitable author? I guess I would know when I find one.
Ryle Romanov
*chuckles* Alright, I won't disturb your quest.
When Calix wasn't looking, Ryle slipped another story collection in the stack.
Ryle Romanov
Let's do this, go have these remaining books issued to you and I will drop you home.
Ryle Romanov
*ruffles his hair* Let's go, kiddo.
Calix Diaz
*nods fervently*
Calix rushed to the librarian and got the books issued to himself. The librarian was tired of seeing his face all the time, no matter how handsome it was, so she did not mind issuing almost 7 books at once.
Ryle led him to his car and then had him enter his address on the map.
Ryle Romanov
Oh, you live close to my house.
Ryle Romanov
*chuckles* No, we live on opposite ends.
Calix Diaz
*eyes widen* I will take the bus, sir. You can stop the car.
Ryle Romanov
*frowns* Are you going to believe everything I say?
Ryle Romanov
*sigh* Your house is on the way to mine. Next time you need a lift, just ask.
Ryle Romanov
What? Don't believe me?
Calix Diaz
I don't think I should.
Calix Diaz
You are a very good teacher.
Ryle Romanov
And you are a very good student.
Ryle Romanov
I have never seen anyone more enthusiastic about reading and writing.
Calix Diaz
It is the only thing I know how to do *mumbles*
Ryle Romanov
So, what are you going to do after college?
Calix Diaz
I have a job offer from the publishing house I interned at.
Ryle Romanov
Oh? That's good.
Ryle Romanov
You are going for publishing?
Calix Diaz
For now. Actually, I want to be a translator.
Ryle Romanov
I know a few publishers. If you want, I can connect you with them.
Calix didn't know how to tell him that he was getting married. He didn't even know if his husband would let him work in the future, let alone work on his dream job.
Ryle Romanov
Well, won't you have me meet your parents?
Calix Diaz
My parents aren't home.
Ryle looked at the house with its lights on and the car in the driveway. He didn't call Calix out on his lousy excuse.
Ryle Romanov
See you tomorrow. *smiles*
Calix Diaz
Thank you for today, sir.
Ryle waited in his car until Calix closed the door of his house behind himself.
Before he drove away, he heard the faint sound of glass breaking.
Author
The suitable author?
Author
Well, some authors might not be the best. The might not be best-sellers or have that many books but they feel right.
Author
The writing just feels good.
Author
For me, I haven't found that author yet but Joan Didion is a strong contender.
