Chapter 4

At that moment, without a second thought, Casus scooped her up in his arms and rushed to get her treated as fast as possible. About halfway there he realized that he can’t just come in with some strange demon that he has no idea as to why she was on this property; his father would surely then torture her until she died. At that moment, Isaac, had shown up, and stood there awhile not saying anything, Casus took a few moments to realize he was even standing there.

“Oh, Isaac, I don’t know who she is. But I want to help her in any way possible, I just don’t know where to keep her so my father won’t find her.”

“Well, there is always the secret room my Lord, there’s an entry nearby.”

“Isaac you’re right, I completely forgot. I’ll get her there and you go get my personal doctor. And tell no one about this.”

“Yes of course my Lord, right away.”

Casus ran her to the secret door on the side of the wall of a tall tower, where there was a series of stairs that lead up to a secret room in the tall deserted tower that only a selective few knew about. There are many entrances but only one room, it had a bed and one side table with a single lamp as the only light source. He laid her on the bed, and looked at her mangled body trying to remember what he read on medical treatment. He drew a blank the most he could do was take the kitchen entrance to get some water and a rag, luckily with the celebration still going on nobody had noticed him. He then began to clean the blood, and attempt to stop the bleeding. Shortly after, the doctor and his nurse showed up with Isaac behind them.

“Casus, Isaac explained everything to me on the way up.”

“Will she be alright? Can you save her? And I only asked for you not the nurse too.”

Casus spoke fast and, in a panic, until he noticed the nurse standing next to the doctor, and his words and stare became harsh with distrust. The woman’s face remained calm as she stood behind the doctor, almost as if she expects him to protect her.

“It’s alright she knows not to say anything, right dear?”

“Yes sweetie, I will stay quiet if that is what the young master wants.”

“See there, now let’s have a look at this demon you want to save.”

The doctor takes of few seconds to examine her and how critical of a condition she is in. The look on his face is a mixture of alarm and worry.

“I am surprised that she is even still alive. Quick Maria we must perform emergency surgery! And you two need to exit the room while this takes place!”

“But Henry, I can help too, I’ve studied just about everything there is to study on medical and surgical.”

At that moment, Casus picked up a surgical knife and cut his hand on it, in disbelief he just stared as his hand as it bled. Henry gathered some gauze and wrapped it around Casus’ hand and shook his head.

“See you are too distracted to help this time, now go and spend time with your new wife we’ll take it from here and see to it that this girl lives.”

“You better do all that you can or else I’ll make sure your life is over. Uh I mean I’m sorry Henry, I don’t know what has gotten into me.”

“It is alright Casus. Maria, is everything ready?”

“Yes Henry, we are ready to go.”

“Good we’ll begin as soon as possible, that means exit the room so we can begin Casus.”

Isaac escorted Casus out of the room and into the hall entrance. And even though Casus was worried for this demon he had just met, he switches on his poker face. Calm, cool, and collected like he always is, despite his inner worries.

“Isaac, let me know if there is any news on her.”

“Where are you going my Lord?”

“To see my wife, after all it is the honeymoon night. I mustn’t keep her waiting for my presence any longer.”

“Be careful Casus, things might become sticky from here on out.”

“Everything will be fine Isaac. Goodnight.”

Still worried he presses on towards the bed chamber where his new wife awaited in anticipation for her first night as a married woman. The maids had helped her into what they thought would make Casus want her, she in laid patience for her new experience with her new husband. She then heard the door handle click just before opening, she jumped at the sound a little and then went back into her position on the bed nervous as to what his reaction will be. The door then opened to reveal Casus; he walks in barely noticing Clarice laying on the bed. It was dark in the room the only bit of light source were some candles here in there, they gave the room a dimly illuminated glow. It was supposed to be romantic but instead looked like a serious scene from a movie, with the red and black decors in the room. Crossing the room to a little vanity, he sat on the stool took off his shoes and then his jacket and tie. Laying them across the floor, he then made his way to the bed, after approaching the bed he looked down at his lovely little lamb. She went for a daring look that peeked Casus’s interest, he gave a smirk as he sat on the bed.

“My oh my. My dear, words cannot describe the way you look tonight.”

“Casus, I have been waiting forever. What took you so long?”

“I am terribly sorry about that my dear, you see I had some things to finish up. And they could not wait, because I did not want our first night together to be interrupted.”

Clarice gave a shy smile that followed with a blushing of her face, she got up to her knees sitting on the bed. Casus then lifted her chin up, and slowly leaned in to kiss her gently on her lips. The next morning Casus could not recall what happened after he had kissed Clarice after he awoke. Looking next to him he noticed that Clarice was soundly asleep curled up next to him, he tried not wake her when getting out of bed. However, it did not matter because the moment he sat up she stretched while giving a cute little yawn.

“Good morning my dear did you sleep well?”

“Yes, although I must say I was not expecting you to do that last night.”

“Oh, really, uh remind me again what it was that I did? For future reference.”

“Casus after you kissed me and laid me down, and then you fell asleep on top of me.”

“I did?! I mean I’m sorry Clarice, I-I mean what a terrible first night for you it must have been.”

“It is alright Casus, I thought it was cute and just as intimate being able to hold you so close to my heart.”

“Well then I’m glad to be able to make you happy my dear and to make it up I’ll get you the finest necklace a demon can have.”

“Oh Casus, you don’t have to do that.”

“Nonsense! My wife deserves only the best!”

Clarice lets out a slight giggle, and continues to gaze at her new husband with loving eyes as he got ready for his day. Only to get up to tie his tie for him and kiss as he left out the door. Clarice stayed back in the room and slowly got ready, making sure to take her time so that she would look the best she could. Only calling on the maids to help her with her dress and garments that requires more than two hands. Before leaving the room, the maids told her that breakfast was ready down in the dining area. Heading down there she got lost ad nearly missed it, and upon her arrival there she felt uncomfortable and embarrassed with everything she did. Being in a new house with the only person she really knew being Casus, and he wasn’t even there she became home sick for all the familiar faces at her house. The only other person at the table was Casus’ father, Lord Blackwell, he sat at the far end of the table with a newspaper in his hand and a cup of black coffee in the other. Clarice sat down at the other end of this large table that seemed kind of useless for people in the house that eat at it. She made a slight sound as she sat down, which caused Casus’s father to put the newspaper aside to see who has disrupted the silence.

“Ah, good morning Clarice. How did you sleep last night my dear?”

“Very good sir, thank you for asking.”

“Good, I’m glad to hear that. I hope that soon I will be able to expect grandchildren.”

“O-of course, sir, I will try my best for that to happen”

“Excellent.”

There was something about him that made Clarice uneasy, she shifted in her seat as she ate her breakfast. She could rest easy as he left without saying a word, after she finished eating she then got up to go back to the room. However, on her way back she seemed to have gotten turned around and wound up at two doors. The doors were clear, and when she peered in out of curiosity she noticed an abundance of plants from all sorts. So, she decided to stroll through and take in the beauty of them all, she later found the door that leads out to the garden of roses. She then found a place to sit and began to just relax and take in the beauty and the amazing smell, the wind would blow and she could smell them even better when it scattered the petals. It started to get cold outside, Clarice found her way inside and began again on her quest to find her way to the room. After climbing the set of stairs, she walked off on the wrong floor. She made her way down a hall that she does not recognize, she than began to hear people talking and made her way towards there to ask them to escort her back to her room. She came upon a room with a sign that read MEDICAL ROOM on it, after she knocked on the door a woman dress in a pink nurse uniform answered the door. Her black hair was tied back into a loose stylish bun, allowing her bangs to sweep off to the side. Her horns came out below her ears and went around to the front of her face like pinchers on a beetle. Clarice looked up at her face for a moment and noticed her deep purple eyes that stared back, and beautiful full lips colored by a red lipstick.

“Oh, hello miss. What brings you to the medical room?”

“Who’s at the door Maria?”

“It is Miss Clarice, Henry.”

At that moment Doctor Henry got up, and walked over to the door. He was tall and had dark brown hair that was slicked back revealing that he is lacking in horns. He pushed up his glasses and seemed to have a scary presence, with his blood-stained doctors’ jacket. However, when he approached her he seemed kinder than she had thought. The nurse known as Maria, stood behind him peering on to what Clarice needs to say.

“Hello Miss, what is it that I can do for you today? Are you feeling alright?”

“I’m alright, it’s just that I seemed to have gotten lost. I can’t get back to my room and was wondering if you could help me get back.”

“Of course, my wife Maria here will escort you back there.”

Maria looked up at her husband in annoyance for him making her such a boring task, but once he gave her that look that pleaded her to do it she just couldn’t refuse.

“Yes, right this way miss.”

“Thank you.”

“I’ll be working for a while Maria! I’ll see you when you return sweetie!”

“Yes dear! Be careful while I’m gone!”

As Maria and Clarice walked off there was an exchanged of air kisses between the lovebirds. At that moment, Clarice kind of felt a sense of envy that they could spend so much time together and be so public with their love. However, that feeling soon disappeared when she remembered how lucky she is to even have someone at all that loves her, everyone just shows it differently. All these thoughts swarmed around in her head, then suddenly they were interrupted when Maria tried to start conversation.

“So, miss Clarice what’s it like being married to young master Casus? I bet you had an amazing time last night, he must be good most reserved guys are.”

“It is wonderful being married to him, I love him dearly… Uh-um excuse me? What do you mean good, good at what?

“Well you know, bedroom affairs.”

“Oh? Oh! Um I-I don’t know.”

“Oh, silly me you’re right, you probably never been with anyone other than young master. I apologize for asking, so just forget about it. Ah here is your room Miss.”

“Uh yes, thank you Maria.”

Nervously Clarice fumbled to open the door to escape the embarrassment of the conversation. While Maria walked away humming to herself in the distance she heard a gasp interrupt the tune, but Clarice was too embarrassed to bother to investigate. She had finally made it back to her room, she sighed in relief and decided to not leave the room alone again.

All the while this was happening, Casus was dealing with other matters of his own. After he left the bed chamber, he made his way to the nearest secret door leading to the room of the lilith that he had recused the night before. Upon entering the room, Casus became nervous and a little irritated that there was no one watching over this lilith considering the serious state she was in last night. He slowly makes his way to the side of the bed, he looks at her sleeping face and then looks around the room. Now that he had a better look at her he noticed that unlike most liliths she had a smaller figure, and a unique shaped tail. It was like an inverted arrow, she had horns that curve up almost like a bull except the one on the left was missing its point only leaving the base. Her hair no longer seemed red, tainted by the blood, but instead was pure white that reached down to lower part of her back. She seemed so delicate, her face seemed twisted in pain as she slept. He then notices how dull and depressing the room looks. It has no windows, and is only lit by a table side lamp. On the other side of the bed is all the surgical equipment that was used to stabilize her, it all looked like a room of a deranged killer’s torture chamber. There was no chair for Casus to sit on, and he didn’t have the courage to sit on the bed next to her so he stood, gazing at her sleeping face with so many questions popping up in his mind. He started asking them out loud, almost as if he were asking her even though she would not be able to answer them.

“Who are you? Where did you come far? Why were you on our property? What happened to you before the Cerberus got you? What do you know? Why do I feel a strong need to protect you?”

“All questions that we’d love to know the answers to.”

Casus jumped a little when he heard someone else’s voice. He turned to find Doctor Henry standing in the doorway, he was alone this time with more medical tools. He then walked over to the other side of the bed, where he began to examine the lilith.

“Henry! Where have you been, something could have happened to her in your absence! How is she?”

“Relax, it would be suspicious if the doctor was gone for too long. She is stable now, wounds are healing at an excellent rate, but she is in a coma and her left horn won’t grow back.”

“You are very right about that, forgive me. Will she ever wake up? Why did your wife not accompany you this time?”

“It’s hard to tell if or when she’ll wake up, Maria had other things to take care of. Although I must say I am quite surprised that she is not back yet. It should not take that long to show Miss Clarice back to her room.”

“Why was Clarice all the way down by your office? Was she sick?”

“No sir she just came by to ask how to get back to the bed chamber, she had appeared to have gotten lost.”

“Oh, well it’s good to hear that she made it back.”

“This lilith will be fine sir, I leave the rest in your hands. If there is any trouble just let me know. Now I am going to go wait for Maria back at the medical room so that we can go out for a little bit.”

“Thank you, Henry,”

Doctor Henry gathered up all his tools and bloody clothes from the night before and took his leave. Casus is once again left alone with the lilith, looking down he noticed that it was a little chilly in this room and she was without a blanket in a medical gown. This was unacceptable in Casus’s eyes, so he called out Isaac’s name. In an instant he was there, always able to appear at Casus’s side the second his name was called out.

“Yes, my Lord?”

“Bring the warmest blanket and comfiest pillow here at once, along with a glass of water.”

“Yes, my Lord, I’ll be back momentarily.”

A minute passes by and Isaac just like when left and appeared out of nowhere. In his arms was one fluffy pillow, and a red blanket. He set the blanket down on the edge of the bed, took the pillow and gently set it under the lilith’s head. Then took the blanket unfolded it and spread it across her body with great care, taking out one of her arms so that it lays on top, being sure to be careful of the IV stuck in her arm. He took a step back and stood there like he was waiting for something. Casus looked at the lilith and smiled, but quickly changed to stern.

“Isaac, where is the glass of water that I asked you to bring?”

Isaac gestured to the glass of water on the bedside table.

“My Lord, it is right there on the table just as you asked.”

“Thank you, Isaac, that will be all for now.”

Isaac gave a bow and then disappeared out of the room leaving Casus alone with her again. He stood alone with her, just watching this demon whom he knows nothing about with caring eyes. He reached for her hand, and began to hold it.

“I will protect you, and make sure that you are healthy enough to let me get to know you. I promise.”
