Chapter 3

5 months had passed since the agreement, and there is now less than three days until the wedding. Clarice writes Casus letters since she was not allowed to see him until the day of the wedding, she sent so many that Casus only responds back to the third one.

“Another letter from lady Clarice, my Lord.”

“Put it with the others Isaac.”

“My Lord, are you sure you want to go through with this marriage? She seems kind of clingy, don’t you think?”

“Not at all Isaac. She is clingy yes, but she has a high-class status which is essential for me to come to power soon. She is smart and beautiful, very good for my image.”

“I’m just not sure I like her my Lord.”

“You do not have to like her Isaac, you just have to respect her as a royal.”

“Alright my Lord, but I just have a bad feeling about this whole relationship.”

“Your opinion is noted Isaac, now to bring on the business I have for you another job.”

“Who is it this time, my Lord?”

“As an assassin, I need you to go and kill this demon that has been spouting nonsense and untrue statements of my plan for power.”

In that moment, Isaac’s form went from a formal respectable butler, to his true nature as a sneaky mysterious dark assassin. Almost like two different demons that live in one vessel, his attitude and posture both changed in a blink of an eye.

“So how do you want me to kill them this time, princess?”

“In a way that will leave a message that anyone who defies me won’t see another day.”

“Sounds like fun. See ya, I might be back depending on my mood.”

“And Isaac please do bring back some blood for the roses this spring.”

“Will do. Cya princess”

And with that Isaac disappears out the window into the dead of night, giving a quick wave and what Casus can only guess to be a cheeky smile under his mask.

“He has got to be less obnoxious when in that form of his, or else he is going to end up dead.”

Casus says this as he chuckles to himself and continues to do his research. Ignoring the letters that sit stacked on his desk that look like they were written with much love and care.

It is now the day of the wedding, and the house has been buzzing since yesterday. The servants have been working nonstop in getting the house wedding ready, and the garden set up for the ceremony. Just when everything seemed in order there was one thing missing, the groom was nowhere to be found within the whole estate. Search parties were sent out by order of his father, when at the last possible second before the wedding. Through the front door, he comes walking in with Isaac, both dirty and covered in blood.

“Casus! Where the hell have you been?! Look at you, you’re covered in blood and dirt seconds before your wedding!”

“Father, it is not my blood and I am aware of close we were cutting it. That is why instead of lecturing me of punctuality, we should be working on getting me ready for my wedding.”

“Then who the hells blood is that?! After you answer me that you get your *** ready like your life depends on it, because it does!”

“A neighboring house that did not want this allegiance marriage to take place and therefor attacked me while I was out for a walk.”

And so as instructed Casus then excused himself and was rushed up to be groomed and changed for the wedding, with Isaac close behind. His father then turned to a servant demanding two things.

“I want tight security for the rest of the day! Release the Cerberus, and any other guards that there is! And the wedding to go off without a hit!”

“Yes of course sir!”

The servant then proceeded to spread the word to set up the defense system and to release the Cerberus. Meanwhile, Casus is being rushed through all the different stages of servants prepping him for his own wedding. In a flash, they got him bathed, groomed, and dressed, with his hair slicked back best smelling cologne and finest black suit; he rushed down to the altar just before Clarice started to walk out. Casus straightened himself and gave that award-winning smile for Clarice as she started to walk down the aisle. With her father’s arm linked with hers, and a big bouquet of flowers in the other, she walked with grace and beauty. Her wedding dress fit her body just right, white with touches of red in the back and on her veil. Her hair was curled and put up in a flawless way, her makeup was subtle with red lips. Once she reached the alter, Casus gave a bow in respect to her father and then held out his hand. Her father gave an approving nod and handed her over to him. As Casus’s father performed the wedding ceremony Casus whispered over to Clarice.

“You outshine even the most radiant diamond today, my dear.”

“Oh Casus, thank you. Everything looks perfect, I couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous place to have the wedding.”

“Indeed, my dear, I put in a special order to have these roses look like this just for you.”

Smiling and blushing so much, Clarice wasn’t paying attention to what was being said.

“Clarice, do you take Casus as your loving husband? Clarice?”

“What? Oh um, y-yes! I do!”

“And Casus do you take Clarice as loving wife?”

“I do.”

“Then by the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”

Casus pulled back he veil gently, cupped his hand on Clarice’s cheek and kissed her. Clarice with her eyes closed blushed a deep red as she received her first kiss from her new husband, whom she will spend the rest of her life loving and doing anything for him. After the wedding ceremony was over there was what felt like a sigh of relief that cover the air of not just the servants, but the royals that were on the side of this arrangement. The day turned into night as the royals had an enjoyable time drinking the night away in celebration, Clarice waited in Casus’s bed chamber heart racing for what everyone told her was the honeymoon night. Although she was told Casus is in the middle of something and it will be awhile before his arrival, she didn’t care because it gave her more time to prepare herself. Casus was taking a walk out in the court yard while reading a book about weapons. Suddenly there was a loud commotion coming from the edge of the property line, it sounded like Cerberus had encountered an intruder. Casus curious as to what Cerberus was attacking, went to investigate and maybe praise Cerberus for a good deed. However, when he called Cerberus off and to sit like a good boy, what had been serving as a chew toy was a demon of a much lower rank. A female, she was a lilith, and she was seriously injured. Her beauty must have captivated Casus otherwise he would not have helped her, but there was something about her outstretched hand and plead for help that struck his cold heart.
