Chapter 11: The Proposal

As I looked into Tae-Oh's eyes, I saw a glimmer of sincerity that gave me pause. Maybe, just maybe, he was telling the truth.

But could I trust him?

I exchanged a glance with Yoon-Ah and Joon-Oh, and saw that they were thinking the same thing. We were all wary of Tae-Oh's motives, but at the same time, we couldn't deny the fact that he had just saved us from the syndicate's clutches.

"What do you propose we do, Tae-Oh?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

Tae-Oh smiled, a cold and calculating smile. "I propose that we work together to take down the syndicate," he said. "I have information that can help us, and I'm willing to share it with you."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of information?" I asked.

Tae-Oh leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I have a list of the syndicate's key members," he said. "I can give you their names, their locations, and their weaknesses. With this information, we can take them down one by one."

I felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of finally having the upper hand against the syndicate. But at the same time, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Tae-Oh was hiding something.

"What's in it for you, Tae-Oh?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

Tae-Oh's smile faltered for a moment, and I saw a glimmer of something else in his eyes. Something that looked almost like... desperation.

"I want to take down the syndicate because they killed someone I care about," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I want to make them pay for what they did."

I felt a pang of sympathy for Tae-Oh, despite myself. I couldn't help but wonder who this person was, and what had happened to them.

But as I looked into Tae-Oh's eyes, I saw something there that made me hesitate. A glimmer of calculation, a hint of manipulation.

Was Tae-Oh telling the truth, or was this just another ploy to get us to trust him?

As I looked over at Yoon-Ah and Joon-Oh, I saw that they were thinking the same thing. We were all wary of Tae-Oh's motives, but at the same time, we couldn't deny the fact that he had just saved us from the syndicate's clutches.

"What do you say, guys?" I asked, turning to Yoon-Ah and Joon-Oh. "Do we trust him?"

Yoon-Ah and Joon-Oh exchanged a glance, and then nodded in unison. "We don't have a choice," Yoon-Ah said. "We need all the help we can get if we're going to take down the syndicate."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. We would work with Tae-Oh, but we would also keep our guard up. We couldn't trust him completely, not yet.

But as we shook hands with Tae-Oh, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Were we making a deal with the devil himself?

As we walked away from the safe house, Tae-Oh fell into step beside us. "So, where do we start?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

I smiled, feeling a sense of determination. "We start with the list," I said. "Let's see who's on it, and what we can do to take them down."

Tae-Oh nodded, a cold and calculating smile spreading across his face. "I'll give you the list," he said. "But first, we need to get out of here. The syndicate will be looking for us, and we don't have much time."

I nodded, feeling a sense of urgency. We needed to move fast, before the syndicate caught up with us.

As we made our way through the crowded streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. We were taking a risk by trusting Tae-Oh, but we didn't have a choice.

We had to take down the syndicate, no matter what it took.

As we walked, Tae-Oh told us more about the syndicate's inner workings. He explained how they operated, who their key members were, and what their weaknesses were.

I listened intently, my mind racing with possibilities. We could use this information to our advantage, to take down the syndicate once and for all.

But as we turned a corner, I saw something that made my blood run cold. A group of men in black suits, standing outside a nondescript building.

The syndicate.
