The streets were empty.

The city slept, but I didn’t.

I Walked, searching.

The hunger had grown unbearable.

I needed to kill.

Then I saw her.

A woman, alone, struggling with her bag.

Her steps slow, careful.

She cradled her stomach.

PREGNANT

I stopped.

Something about it felt... different.

She wasn’t like the others.

She wasn’t careless.

She was carrying something more than just herself.

For a moment, I hesitated.

Then, a thought slithered into my mind.

Two lives in one kill.

My fingers tightened around the knife.

The hunger burned so violently it drowned out reason.

I stepped forward.

My hand clamped over her mouth before she could scream.

She fought.

Harder than I expected.

Scratching, kicking, but she was already weak.

Already protecting something inside her.

She didn’t even realize she should be protecting herself

The knife slid into her stomach.

Deep.

Her muffled scream sent shivers through me.

Her body twisted, shaking, breaking. I stabbed again.

And again.

The blood poured, soaking her clothes, pooling beneath her.

I pulled back, breathing heavy.

She wasn’t moving.

I knelt beside her, watching.

Her lips moved, but no sound came.

Her hands still clutched her stomach, as if holding onto something that was already gone.

Then… stillness.

The street remained silent.

The world, once again, hadn’t noticed.

I Wiped my knife and walked away.

But as I disappeared into the night, a strange thought crept into my mind.

What if I had killed the wrong life?
