The next morning felt like any other.
My alarm rang.
I got up.
I went to work.
No one looked at me any differently.
No one whispered my name.
The world didn’t stop,
Didn’t shudder,
Didn’t acknowledge what I had done.
It was as if the shopkeeper had never existed.
.
.
But I knew better.
I sat at my desk staring at my blank screen.
My boss walked past muttering something about deadlines.
I didn’t listen.
My mind was elsewhere.
I thought about the feeling.
The rush.
The power.
I had expected guilt.
Maybe fear.
But all I felt was… hunger.
Not for food.
Not for love.
For that moment again.
That moment when someone’s laughter died in their throat.
That moment when I became real.
I clenched my fists.
My nails dug into my palm
Leaving tiny crescents in my skin.
Once wasn’t enough.
.
.
I needed more.
