The hunger didn’t leave.

It sat inside me,

Quiet but constant,

Like a song stuck in my head.

I walked home late that night,

The streets buzzing with life.

People laughing, talking, breathing.

I watched them my eyes scanning faces.

Too young.

Too old.

Too… unremarkable.

Then I saw him

A man leaning against a streetlamp, smoking,

Scrolling through his phone.

His face was smug, relaxed, like the world owed him something.

He didn’t even notice me

Something about that annoyed me.

I slowed my steps

Watching him.

My fingers twitched

Itching for that feeling again—

The weight of a life in my hands

The final breath

The silence.

I had done it once.

Could I do it again?

The thought sent a chill down my spine.

Not of fear.

Of excitement.

I took a step forward.
