Episode 5

    "I am..."

I patiently waited for his answer, but...

"... I forgot." he said, nonchalantly. I look at him in disbelief, "... What? Are you telling me that you lost...your memory?". He touched his head, "I think so...". I was a bit surprised but it was kind of reasonable since, his head injury was more severe than the one on his body.

I asked him softly, trying to comfort him a bit,"do you really not remember anything? Anything at all?". He was still keeping his right hand on the injured part of his head, the knife still in his left hand. He sighed, "I... really don't remember anything at all... how I got injured, how I am here and what was I even doing here?!". I looked up at him, as I saw his annoyed face I was starting to pity him a bit.

Nobody will know the feeling of loneliness, confusion and annoyance I felt when I was hit by the reality that my parents were no more there for me. So, I was a bit taken aback when he said that he doesn't remember anything.

"Do...you at least remember your name?" I asked hesitantly. He remained silent for a while as if trying his best to at least remember his name. He stutters a bit and said, "my...my name, its Luther." After saying this, he broadly smiled at me, "I at least remember my name!" I don't know why, but I felt kind of happy and relieved to see him smile, but his smile was...how to say...kinda force?kinda creepy?...

I just ignored my thoughts and walks towards the kitchen, Luther following me from behind. "So... what are you going to do now?" I asked as I hold a cup of water to drink. "I... don't know", he answered looking a bit sad. I noticed it but didn't say anything. He continues,"do you need a helping hand around your house?". I stopped drinking water and look at him,"are you suggesting that you want to live here with me?", I asked, suspiciously.

"Can't I?..." he asked, a bit intimidating. I was going to refuse him. I don't know what happened, something got to me and I ended up agreeing, "you can stay...here...as long as you like..." I came back to my sense and I flinched as I didn't intend to say that. What's more unsettling was that Luther smiled brightly as if nothing happened and putting up a face of gratefulness.

...

I didn't suspect anything at that time and just ensured myself that I agreed to let him stay since he had nowhere to go. Moreover, he didn't look like he was from our village or the neighboring.

That was my FIRST mistake...

...

I was taken aback by what I said, and I almost felt as if I had been hypnotized but, that wasn't possible. How would a person who knows hypnotizing be injured severe, groaning in pain under a tree. But I was kind of curious about how he got injured like that. I get out of my thoughts and said to Luther, "You can stay here, but I hope that you will work hard. I don't like a freelancer." "Don't worry, I'll get out of your nose once I am sure what to do." he replied assuring me. I didn't say anything and went outside to freshen up, leaving him behind.
