Elyrielle looked really pail. After all, going back to your body like that always hurts. But the physical remainder of the hand, the dark magic that it emulated. That is not all. That creature... elf? Had purple glowing eyes. She had never seen something like that. An elf that only uses dark magic? He must be someone incredibly dangerous. Because dark magic leaves marks on your body and mind. If you keep exposing yourself to dark magic, the traces will not only remain but also expand. That man had his whole arms completely pitch black. She didn't even want to know what the rest of his body looked like. Even more important. His hair. Elfs power can be determined by looking at their hair. The magic of elfs comes from the sun. The closer to golden their hair is, the more powerful the elf is. Elyrielle's hair is platinum blonde. The most powerful possible (at least that she knew about). But that elf... his hair was WHITE. That meant that he is even more powerful... or that his power is related to the moon. The exact opposite of her. If that is true... is he an elf? Is he from another race? Even though it was dangerous, she couldn't stop her curiosity. She wanted answers.
- Is there anything wrong, Lady Elyrielle? - Said Leonard as he gently poked Elyrielle's face.
- No, I'm sorry about that, Leonard. Is only that astral projection is especially hard if someone forces you to come back...
- Did you see something? I mean, vesides the girl that we need to rescue.
- Yes... another elf. At least, it looked like one.
- What do you mean by that?
- Because he mainly uses dark magic. - Interrupted Calanthir. That stopped walking and waited for them.
- Do you know anything about this? - Asked Leonard as he raised an eyebrow.
- In fact, i do. Sadly. I used to work for him. He does not leave the cave. I made quests for him.
- Why did you stop? DID you stop? - Accused Leonard.
- He... he asked something that I couldn't do. My morals are low, but not that low. There is no blood in my hands. I want to keep it that way. - Said Calanthir as he looked as his hands. In his eyes, they were filthy. In reality, his hands looked perfect as well as his white clothes.
- That does not make me feel sure around you. - Said Leonard.
- I know. I also know that he... he is not someone you want to mess with. He probably kidnapped this kid because he wants to experiment in her. I can't let him do that. I KNOW what kinds of things he is capable of. I... I can't.
- That is good to hear, I didn't know you had a heart. - Said sarcastically Leonard.
- Leonard, Calanthir, please stop. We need hurry up. Let your problems for after this mission already over, please. - Said Elyrielle with a calming voice.
- Yes, Lady Elyrielle. - Said Leonard and Calanthir at the same time. They looked at each other and frowned too. Elyrielle found this funny.
They caught with the others. Besides ruins, with symbols that none of them could understand, there was nothing relevant on the first floor.
- I think these are supposed to be the stairs that go to the next floor. But they are covered in sand. Do you have any ideas? - Asked Edward.
- Maybe I can do something. - Said Leonard. He opened his spell book and said:
<< Magnes harenarius >>
His spellbook strated glowing as well at his hand. With a smooth movement, he waved his hand from left to right and the sand followed the movement. Then he raised it and deposited it behind all of them. Leonard was satisfied with himself. He put his hands at his hips. He closed his eyes and a smile appeared on his face.
- And that is how you do it. - Said Leonard as he closed his spellbook.
- Great work Leonard. You are really talented! - Said Elyrielle with a smile.
- HMP! Such a simple spell. Even a toilet could do that. - Said Calanthir with a grin.
- Calanthir, dear, what did we discuss previously? - Said Elyrielle in a playful tone.
Calanthir blushed, ashamed. The others laughed and proceeded to enter the second floor.
Just at the beginning, the thick, pointy and green web covered 90% of the entrance to the next floor.
- These are spider webs. I know they might not look like it, but I saw it. - Said Elyrielle.
- I can help with that. - Said Louise. She got out her claws and tried cutting the web, her claws got stuck and Edward ended up helping her to get out of there.
- Well, I do have another idea. Said Louise. She got a huge sword of her bag and tired cutting the web. She had to swing many times but was successful. - Okay, I will lead this time. You cover my back.
- Got it boss! - Said Edward with a smile.
The others nodded and kept behind looking around.
- Be careful. There are wholes at the walls. I samanyny spiders. They didn't seem friendly. - Said Elyrielle as she tried to manifest her staff but just got disy. Not only her magic was weak, her body as well. The fog couldn't find another moment to inconvenient her.
- Are you okay princess? - Asked Calanthir with a worried expression.
- I got you Lady Elyrielle. - Said Edward as he rushed to grab her again.
- Thank you for worrying. I am not feeling really well if I'm being honest. But we are here already. I am not the priority for now.
- You are for your people. - Said Calanthir as he grabbed Elyrielle's other arm to help her walk. Leonard gave him a look but ultimately decided to keep his opinion to himself... until they got out of the cave.
Elyrielle looked up and down. She managed to see many wholes. Tiny glowing eyes looked back from the darkness. What were they waiting for? Her question was quickly answered after they heard Louise curse loudly.
- SHIT! STOP! ED! HELP ME OUT HERE!
- From the roof, One spider, bigger than the others shot web at her eyes. It was sticky and she couldn't see. The spiders took this chance and thousands of them started coming out of the wholes. From the ground, the walls, the roof. There were everywhere.
- Holy crap! Okay, I'm coming Lou! - Screamed Edward. He stepped and slashed as many as he could to get to her best friend. After all, she couldn't get her eyes free with her own claws.
Leonard, Calanthir and Elyrielle got there and started fighting the spiders as well. Leonard asked Elyrielle to stay behind for now, he will cover her. She just nodded, she didn't have the strength to fight yet anyway.
Leonard casted more fireballs and started blasting big groups of them. Hocus flied around grabbing some of them and stomping them to the walls. Calanthir cast three dirt dragons and made two of them attack from every angle the spiders. The third one stood by Elyrielle's side and protected her. She felt really appreciated. She hoped that Calanthir wasn't just protecting her because he wanted something out of her. For now, that wasn't important. Her condition was not giving her a break.
Edward finally could free her friend and got her out in one move. The bigger spider, possibly the queen, stood right in front of them. Black, eight pointy and lustrous pedipalps, eight bright red eyes and two huge cheliceraes that dropped that same green liquid from them.
Soon enough, the others came and got ready to fight. Louise eyes looked redish and swollen. She could barely open her eyes. It looked as if pustules were about to appear.
- Queen's web is poisonous. Get with Elyrielle, she might be able to help you. - Said Calanthir pointing at Elyrielle and the big earth dragon. - You will be safe.
With no other options, she nodded and went to Elyrielle. She got up, still dizzy and manifested her staff this time. She held on to it and prayed that she wouldn't faint or something worse.
- Are you okay? - Asked Louise, barely able to look at Elyrielle.
- Don't you worry about me. I can handle this. Now, come close young lady. This shouldn't take long.
<< Nallon síne o vanima >>
- I don't feel different. - Said Louise kind of disappointed. Elyrielle felt her forces leaving her body and threw up on the floor. She felt to her knees but managed to get up quickly.
- What- What happened? - Asked Louise worried. Her face didn't each anymore at least, but she could still barely see because of the swelling.
- I am fine Louise. I'm just weak. I came into contact with dark magic directly. That is just worsening my magic problems.
- I am so sorry. I was really careless.
- No honey. You did what you could. Now sit for a few seconds to catch your breath. The poison will not affect you anymore but I do not have enough magic to heal your wounds for now. I am deeply sorry. - Said Elyrielle with tears on her eyes.
- Hey, it's okay Ms Elyrielle. My face doesn't feel icky anymore!
Elyrielle smiled and they both sat on the floor for now.
Leonard threw her fire balls at the queen spider. After the smoke disappeared, the spider seemed exactly the same.
- Don't you know another spell? - Said sarcastically Calanthir.
- Then help YOURSELF. Dick. - Said Edward pointing his sword at the queen spider. - As I read, my sword won't hurt him either.
- You are right. I know what will!
<< Nallon ráma lómessëo! >>
Out of Calanthir's stuff got out a cold and strong squall that went straight to the queen spider. It froze the legs in an instant. The queen tried moving but couldn't. She screeched for her babies to help her. All of them turned and started running towards their mother. More and more spiders started coming from the wholes on the cave.
- Now Knight! Cut ger limbs! She will fall to the ground and their kids will center her attention on helping her mother out. Act fast! - Screamed Calathir as he kept the spell active.
- You don't need to remind me! - Screamed Edward that with two strong swings cut all eight legs. The queen screeched some more and fell heavily to the ground.
- Come on! Run! - Said Calanthir as his spell disappeared.
Louise grabbed Elyrielle with both hands and ran towards the exit. This took by surprise Elyrielle. She grabbed tight to her party member, even shaking a little. She had such strength that she could sprint even with someone almost her size in her arms.
The 5 heroes took that chance and ran avoiding the queen and passed to the stairs that led to the third floor. The queen spider lied there, screaming for herchildren. They all came to her and forgot about the adventurers. Healing her mother was more important.
The third floor awaited. This floor would be one that Edward wound never forget.
