Once all of them were at the feet of the mountain. They remained silent for a few seconds.
- How should we proceed? Asked Leonard. He was sweating and playing around with his spellbook.
- Well, let's avoid them as much as we can. Let's go around them, as quietly as we can. - Said Edward as he pointed out where to go.
- Oh! I know! There's a spell that I can use that might help! - said Calanthir, now smiling again.
He steeped up and materialized his staff. It was pretty. It was made from a beautiful white wood. At the top was a big and diamond shaped red jewell.
It started shining. He turned and, with a huge grin on his face, said:
<< Ni vel' i alasse! >>
Just like that, a golden light blinded all of them for a full second. Once they could open their eyes, their bodies looked translucent.
- Oh shit! - Said Edward and tripped with his feet.
- Cool - Said Leonard as he looked up and down his own body.
- I told you I have my own tricks. - Said Calanthir, showing all his teeth with his smile. He looked right at Elyrielle as he said:
- Now, we should get going. This only lasts 5 minutes. They can't see us, but they CAN hear us. So. Run.
They all nodded, hopped on their horses, and started riding at all force. None of them were really sure about this, so they all made sure that they were going as fast as they could.
Three minutes passed, and they were meters away from the entrance. Some goblins turned around, confused, looking all around. The ghouls also, one by one, turned around. In an unreal fashion, both groups of ghouls and goblins left the body and started actively looking everywhere.
- We are doomed if they see us! - Said Leonard, really nervous now. Hocus was hooting and flapping his wings over and over.
One minute left. The entrance was covered. They needed to open it.
- I can do that! Said Leonard. He opened his spellbook and screamed:
<< Ignictis volantis! >>
Her spell book started shining. Three balls of light got out of it, they soon turned into fireballs and went straight to the entrance. A strong explosion blew up the wooden planks in one loud blast. The effect of the spell disappeared. All beasts saw them and started running towards them.
- Go ahead! I will block the entrance! - Screamed Elyrielle.
The other five party members entered the cave. Elyrielle stayed a little behind to block it. She materialized her staff, her eyes started glowing, and she pointed to the entrance with her glowing staff and screamed
<< Rachon sindarin! >>
A huge rock emerged from the floor and completely blocked the entrance seconds before the monsters could catch her. They even heard how some of them crashed into the wall as they couldn't stop in time.
All of them sighed and took a moment to rest.
- That was amazing, Lady Elyrielle. - Said Leonard with a smile. He was still sweating from the stress. His hands were a little shaky as well.
-No wonder she is the princess after all. - Said Calanthir as he fixed his ponytail that got a little messy with all of that action.
- There is something else that I can do. - Said Elyrielle as she sat on the floor. She moved until she made a pose similar to one that you do to meditate.
- What are you doing? Asked Edward
- I can make project my conscience to look for the lady that we are trying to find. I just need to concentrate. Nobody has to touch me or make noises, or I can lose connection and come back before I find her. Is that clear?
- Yes, Ms. Elder. That sounds great! Do what you need to do.
- Go ahead, we trust you.
- I will protect you Lady Elyrielle.
- Such powerful magic! How can you?- Oh, that's right. You are a royal after all. - Said sarcastically Calanthir.
- Good. Complete silence please. I will begin.
All nodded and sat down on the floor. Elyrielle closed her eyes took a deep breath and lied down on the floor. As if she was sleeping.
"Please work" she thought. And it did.
Seconds after she lied down all other noises started disappearing. All she could hear was her breathing and the beating of her heart. She was ready. She opened her eyes and there she was, floating over her own body. Calanthir was looking at her all the time with a curious expression. He never stopped following her every move.
She breathed again and looked around. Inside the cave was some kind of ruins of an old civilization. The walls had estrange symbols and drawings carved in this material similar to quartz. It was mostly a dark gray. They were covered in mold and spiderweb. The floor was covered with sand and stone in a inconsistent way. Some parts had little sand, other pillars of the ruins were at least 1 ft covered. On the walls, little torches were hanging. A blue flame worked as the light source of that section of the dungeon.
Elyrielle started floating and looked all arround the first floor. She only found some skeletons and entire sections covered in sand or collapsed parts of the roof. So she decided to go to the second floor. She went through the floor as a ghost. Calanthir looked at her until she was out of his sight.
The second floor was covered with heavy plants. From the roof to the floors covered with some kind of climbing plants that looked more like tentacles. "We would need to cut through these" she thought. She saw little wholes on the roof. Spiders were there. As big as one adult man's hand. A Thousand of them were wandering around. She concluded that green "plant" was their web. It looked sticky and had lots of thorns around them. Once again, she wasn't on this floor.
On the third floor it was just a little section of rocks then lava. Fire dragons were swimming on it. Some others were walking on the walls. They looked really dangerous as well. Their color was orange and red, they camouflaged themselves with the lava. For the third time, she wasn't there. This time, Elyrielle decided to directly call for her.
"Ms Melwyn? Are you here? My name is Elyrielle. My group and I came to rescue you. Can you hear me?"
After a few seconds of complete silence, a voice answered.
"YES HELLO? YES I AM STILL HERE! I AM ON THE FOURTH FLOOR! PLEASE BE CAREFUL!"
Her voice sounded really young. Too young. Maybe she wasn't even 100 years. Just a kid.
"Don't you worry dear. We will"
Elyrielle went through the floor and started looking for her.
The fourth floor was full of monsters. Ghouls and goblins on the walls. They somehow coexisted here. That was because they were working together for someone. Some ghouls walked on the walls, other were playing with each other. Some goblins were close to a fire and danced around it. Other two small ones were fighting over a human leg to eat. Deep inside that floor, was a little cage. There was Melwyn. She was protecting the cage with a shield spell. It wasn’t going to last long though. Many ghouls constantly launched themselves at it. Several fractures were visible on the shield.
But someone... Elyrielle felt someone else's presence.
Melwyn suddenly looked at Elyrielle and started panicking. But she wasn't looking at her... she was longing behind her. Before Elyrielle could react, a cold and firm hand grabbed her by the throat and forcibly turned her around.
- What do we have here? - Said a tall old male with white hair. But he had long ears... His eyes... were purple instead of yellow. His hands were completely dark. He was wearing a cape totally black as well. He had a big scar on his left eye, across his face. He looked at Elyrielle. She tried to let go, but he wasn't letting her. She grabbed that stranger's hands to stop him. He just smiled. His teeth looked like shark teeth.
"I will be patient. I will see you later, Elyrielle"
He lifted Elyrielle's projection and threw her upwards with such strength that she went through all roofs until she crashed with her own body.
- AGH! - Said Elyrielle that suddenly sat down and started coughing. She looked really pail and her neck had a black mark of a hand on her throat.
Edward, Leonard and Louise ran towards here worried. Calanthir stood there, in horror. He knew that mark. He was looking at her frozen in place, "It couldn't be him... right?"
- I am okay... thanks to all of you... We need to keep moving. Melwyn is on the fourth floor, she has a shield but is not going to last for long. We need to hurry-
Elyrielle tried to get up but lost balance. Leonard grabbed just in time.
- You can count on me lady Elyrielle. Walk with me. I will carry you of necessary.
- Thanks Leonard. I... will definitely need help.
- Let's go people. I'm sure that Elyrielle is right. Let's get moving. - Said Edward as he started walking already.
- Edward and right. You two take your time if you need to. Ed and I can manage any monster that we manage to find.
Then Louise noticed that Calanthir was standing there. Just looking at the floor with his eyes widened.
But you... He you Calanthir! Get your ass here! - Screamed Louise as she made a hand gesture for him to follow her.
- Oh! Y- yeah. I'm coming.
Before running behind Louise, he looked at Elyrielle and told her telepathically:
"If he is who I think he is, we are dead. These are forces that you can't comprehend"
- What did I say lazy ass?
- I'm sorry. I'm going!
"Who do YOU think he is?" Thought Elyrielle as her and Leonard started walking towards their party. Deeper and deeper into the dungeon.
