I hope you are ready for battle. You must be - Said Elyrielle with her ears pointing downwards.
- Of course. - Said Leonard, who grabbed his spell book and opened it.
- Wait. We have a shield on. We need to counter their attack.
- What are you suggesting?
- Let me attack. I will cover you. The shield will remain on you. - Said Elyrielle as she took her bow and pointed at the ghouls.
- No! What about you?
- I can deal with that if necessary. Now, go, Mr Leonard. Grab those night shimmers!
Leonard wasn't that sure about Elyrielle's plan but decided to trust her. Trust your life to someone that you barely know? Leonard thought that was reasonable. Somewhere in his heart, he knew that she was trustworthy.
Elyrielle positioned herself and started shooting the arrows. She knew that would only slow those monsters down, but it was enough for now. Her precision was immaculate. Her muscle memory was still there, she thought.
One, two, and three fell to the floor. One with an arrow at the jugular. Another with an arrow in the middle of its forehead. And the third one had an arrow go through whete used to be an eye before.
- Let's make things interesting! - Said Elyrielle and smiled confidently.
<< Namarie Numbë >>
The arrow that Elyrielle was holding while she said that spell burst into flames. When the arrow touched a ghoul's head, it exploded. But the explosion was bigger than Elyrielle expected and made the other two ghoul's heads explode partially as well.
- Wow! what was that? - Said Leonard that turned around to look while he was running to get the flowers.
Elyrielle's eyes glowed as never before. This combined with the grin that she had. Was something that Leonard had ever seen. She looked proud. That primal, royal pride that he always saw on other elfs. He saw... power. Power and a superiority that he saw somewhere before...
<< SHAME >>
- Grab the flowers, Mr Leonard! I can and WILL handle these beasts. Said Elyrielle with an even bigger grin.
Leonard nodded and ran towards the flowers. He was approximately one meter away from the flowers when a Ghoul jumped from the back and grabbed him by the ankle. Both fell to the floor. He didn’t quite understand what happened until the beast was centimeters away from biting his leg.
- NO! PLEASE NO! -Screamed Leonardo with all his might.
Elyrielle's grin disappeared as she turned to look for his party member. Her eyes widened, and her ears turned downwards. Her eyes filled with pride moments ago, now where filled a mixture of fear and hate.
She grabbed her arrow and started running towards Leonard. As the ghouls jumped at her, she hit them with the arrow as strong as she could. She materialized her staff and pointed towards Leonard.
<< NALLON! >>
Nothing happened.
- No! Not now! Please! - Said Elyrielle, as she felt her tears forming in her glowing eyes.
<< NALLË!! >>
Again. Nothing happened.
Leonard was kicking the ghoul. That kept him from biting, but he wasn't letting go either. His spell book fell right by the flowers, away from his reach. He couldn't cast anything without his spell book, nor wasn't strong enough to just get rid of the ghoul with force. Leonard was a man of books, not a man of strength. He thought that... he might be wrong. He put his life on an Elf's hands that he didn't know. Or maybe it was because he was careless? He didn't know many spells after all. It was hard for him to use, actually. He was just creative with the spells that he knew well.
The spell books I'm this world work as an open book. They have completely white pages. The spells only appear once you totally control them. He only mastered 10 of them. And he only knew variations of those ten that he created himself. And now... all his life work, his trustworthy spell book was out of reach. All his knowledge, all his hard work, his countless hours studying, and practicing spells were... useless. Now, he was going to die without even being able to use magic to defend himself. Pathetic.
Leonard kept kicking, but now he started crying. His leg was getting tired, and his hands could barely keep the ghoul from biting him. Then, the unthinkable happened. Elyrielle screamed. An angry, primal scream. Her eyes turned completely neon purple, and her hair elevated until it reached the roof or the cave. She pointed at the ghoul with her infex finger. That started glowing neon purple as well. Her voice, filled with pure hatred and deeper than normal, said:
<< Lancë morgul >>
Elyrielle moved his right hand, still pointing at the ghoul in a zigzag movement, and the ghoul's body was cut in several places at the same time. The ghouls that were still there were also cut in several parts. All of them lost their heads. The cave's wall suddenly was covered in black because of the ghouls' blood. Leonard himself received a portion of black blood as well that covered his pants and parts of his face.
Leonard, in shock. Just let himself fall to the floor and stared at space for a few seconds. Too tired and scared to look back. "The flowers!" he thought. He turned and looked at the flowers. He crawled towards them and managed to grab at least 8 of them. Likewise, he grabbed his spell book as well and fell to the floor again. Exhausted, he just mumbled, "I got them!"
Elyrielle finally caught up to him and kneeled by his side.
- LEONARD! Are you okay? Did my spell hurt you? -Her tears were blurring her vision. So she was really asking if she hurt him because she could barely see.
-I... I got them! - Said him and started laughing.
Elyrielle sighed. Her ears returned to a neutral position, her eyes turned gold again, and her hair fell as well. She smiled and cleaned her tears. She seemed relieved. Really relieved. As what she did could have seriously harmed him. Which was the case.
- Dark... magic. - Said Leonard with wide open eyes. He approached his hand and touched Elyrielle's cheek. He cleaned one tear from her soft face.
Elyrielle, turned red, ashamed, and nodded. She got up and offered Leonard her hand to get up.
- Not only that! Offensive magic! I have never seen any other female elf use magic to attack! Much less dark Magic! You are incredible, Lady Elyrielle. I... I-
- Let's keep that as a secret between magic users. Shall we? - Said Elyrielle, finally smiling normally again.
- Yes Lady Elyrielle. I will definitely do. - And he gave her his hand.
- Are you guys okay?! - Asked Louise that came running from one side.
- Magic dude! Are you doing fine?? - Asked Edward, barely walking fast after Louise. He was really tired.
Louise entered and stood still, shocked. Edward couldn't stop in time and bumped into her partner's back, lost balance, and fell to the floor. He landed with his butt to the floor. That surely hurt.
- What the fuck Louise? Let me know if you stop running! What are you seeing anyway- OH.
The whole cave's walls where covered un black blood from the ghouls. Several bodies remained in the floor. Some with severed heads and body parts. Others with heads that seemed that directly exploded somehow. At the end of the tunnel were Leonard now standing with his spell book in one hand and the flowers on the other. And Elyrielle, With her staff in one hand and her bow on the other.
Elyrielle was covered in black blood. Her eyes and silver hair looked even more pail in contrast with that dark liquid. Finally, she turned and waved at them. Leonard was still looking at her. A mixture of surprise and complete shock showed on his face. His eyes were still looking at Elyrielle's eyes. He didn’t even flinch when he heard the other party member's voices.
- Ya got the flowers man? - Asked Edward from the floor, touching his butt, it really hurt.
- I... I got them! - Said Leonard finally. Raised his hand with the flowers and smiled, showing all of his teeth. He finally stopped looking at Elyrielle.
<< HISSSSSS >>
Elyrielle's ears turned to the right and her expression changed again.
- More are coming. We must leave now.
- Agreed! - Said Edward and sighed really loudly.
- You don't have to tell me twice! - Said the beast girl.
- I... I'm not sure that I can run anymore. - Said Leonard softly.
- Me... neither. - Said Edward.
- I might know a solution for that. - Said Elyrielle and said softly:
<< Nallon síne ar Arow >>
From the whole on the roof a scratching sound could be heard. After more and more scratching, the whole became big enough for the head of an earth dragon to fit in.
- Wow! Am earth dragon! - Said exited Edward.
The dragon, am earth dragon looked like a big salamander but the size of a white shark or even bigger. It's triangular shaped head looked at all of them with its yellow glowing eyes and flicked its tongue. Its scales were a mixture of red and black. It was really big and had strong, curved, and sharp nails. The dragon examined the room until it found Elyrielle and nodded.
- I just called for a friend. Come, our ride home is here!
Edward ran with a big smile towards the dragon and was the first to sit on the dragon's back.
- Elyrielle smiled and sat right by the back of the dragon's head. Next was Leonard, then Louise and finally Edward. He insisted on being close to the dragon's tail. He wanted to see it clearly and touch it.
- Is everyone ready to go?
- I was ready YESTERDAY, Ms. elder! LET'S GOOOO! - Screamed exited Edward.
- Noicy as always. - Said Louise that covered her face, embarrassed.
- I am so ready to sleep 12 hours. Lady Elyrielle. - And smiled, still with its hands shaking.
- Okay, grab on tight people. This dragon can run up until 20 km/h. He won't slow down. You have been warned!
All nodded. And Elyrielle gave a signal to the dragon. Seconds later, they were on top of an earth dragon that ran without slowing down until they reached the town hall. Leonard screamed all the way and passed down once. Edward screamed as well, but for different reasons:
"Can you summon more than one?" "Can you summon water dragons as well?" " What about huge fire dragons?"
And many other questions related to dragons. Louise kicked Edward softly to male him shut up several times, but it didn't work. She wanted the earth to swallow her whole.
After 15 minutes, they arrived at the town hall exhausted. Elyrielle more than all of them. She had almost cero magic left and just wanted to sleep all night. They gave the flowers to the adventurers' receptionist, and everybody started going to their respective homes.
- Let's take 2 days to rest! I sure as he'll need it! - Said Edward.
- It's fine for me - Said Louise.
- Agreed. - Said Leonard.
- My magic will thank me If I allow myself to rest one day so, its perfect for me. See you guys. Rest well. - Said Elyrielle and walked to her room.
She had enough adventures... for today.
