Elyrielle finally arrived to Lyroz. It was noon already. Lyroz was a little town known for forming magicians. There was a school of magic for them, the main attraction of that town was that.
She decided to look for a place to stay for the day. A modest hotel, maybe. Luckily, she brought a little amount of gold with her. Since it's been centuries that she went to adventures, she just earned money from time to time.
She used to teach kid elfs to control their magic. Elyrielle used to teach them every weekend that she had free time, which wasn't frequent. She knew she couldn't survive with that alone, that is why she decided that she would take some missions to go along with magicians to earn some. Her magic wasn't as strong as it used to be, but she thought that it should be enough at least for healing.
You might ask yourself, if magicians and elfs both use magic, what is the difference between them? First, the race. Magicians are human, and Elfs are not. Magicians need spell books or artifacts to actually produce magic. They do not produce naturally. The body of a magician can tolerate magic better than to give an example, a knight. Elfs are born naturally magic. They can produce it and can use it without the need of artifacts or book spells. Elfs just use staffs to amplify their magic. Of course, it depends on the kind of magic that the elf chooses to learn. For instance, Elyrielle specialized with healing and protection spells. After all, that was her role as a female elf.
Lyroz is a small town. It's close to the woods, so many magicians of there know how to control magic related to nature. The whole town is covered by small but resistant wooden cavins. Some of them have farm animals, but they are a minority. But what you will definitely see on Lyroz are birds. Birds are usually used to give messages or as companions. Magicians usually use them as companions rather than tools. This meant that you could see at least one owl, eagle, or crow per house.
It started snowing during the night, so Elyrielle decided not to be picky with the hotel. Finally, after looking for a place she could afford, ultimately decided for a place called "Sweet home hotel."" It was a nice and cozy wooden cabin. It wasn’t too fancy or too cheap either, just right. She tied Spotty outside of the cabin and entered.
- Good afternoon. Is there any room available?
- Good morning! Oh, an elder. What is an elder doing here? If I may ask? ha ha. - Asked an old, bald, and a little chubby man who seemed to be the one in charge of the place.
- Just travel Mr. Some fun, I would say.
- Please! Call me Arthur. And yes! We do have a room. It's 10 golden coins per night. Is that fine for you Ms?...
- Ms Elyrielle, and yes, it's fine for me. Thank you so much.
- Great to see that. Here, you have the key for the room. Room number 10. I hope you enjoy your stance here, Ms Elyrielle!
- I'm sure I will.
When Elyrielle turned around to find her room. Mr
Arthur said with a weird tone on her voice.
- Excuse me, are you the daughter of The Elf King?
Silence answered the man. She knew that could happen. But still caught her of guard.
- Yes, I am. Is that a problem?
-Oh! No, no. I was just curious Ma'am. Is just that...
- I look just like him?
-Exactly! Is hard not to see the resemblance!
Elyrielle smiled and nodded, Mr Arthur nodded back, and she went to her room.
Thar was not a lie. She was indeed a carbon copy of her father. She inherited his factions. Likewise, she had long and golden hair just as her father. A pettit nose and long eyelashes, just as her father. Long legs and long arms combined with hands with long and thin fingers, just as her father. One of the few feature that distinguished her from him was the eyes. He had a terrifying and firm stare. "The stare of a true King" he used to say. In comparison, Elyrielle has a kind and warm gaze, the only thing that she got from her diseased mother. She would have to consider the fact of her resemblance in the future. Maybe the next time, if the situation isn't favorable, she would say that they just look alike.
She got to her room. It was a simple but comfortable room. A small room, actually. It consisted of a medium-sized bed with a woolen blanket and two pillows. There was a little table by the side of the bed where a gas lump was in case that she needed. Beside her bed, was a small window with a simple set of sky-blue curtains. The room also had a small bathroom that consisted of a shower, a small mirror and a toilet. It was good for that price, so she was satisfied.
She unpacked her things and decided to head towards the town hall. There she would probably find some missions to finally earn some gold. She decided to take a shower to feel more relaxed before going out.
The shower didn't had warm water as expected but still relaxed her. She washed her long hair and carefully cleaned her body section by section to make sure that she didn't smell like a piece of wet tree after her long night on the woods.
Once she was done, she put a small clip to avoid hair getting into her eyes, a simple white dress with a brown corset, a simple gray cape on top and finally brown sandals. The rest of her hair would just fly free until it was fully dry for now. Now ready, she locked her room and left the hotel.
The sky was gray, more clouds than yesterday slowly but surely floated in the sky. She hasn't eaten since yesterday, but she would eat some fruit for now, she wanted to secure a mission before everybody in town did.
Even though she visited the place before, of course, with centuries places and people change. So she needed to find the town hall, which meant that she had to ask for it. She didn't want to make a scene, so she went to a little shop to buy some groceries and take that chance to ask about the hall as well.
Good morning! I'm Elyrielle, and I'm interested in buying some groceries please.
- Mornin'! Hi there Ms... Elder? What can I do for ya? - Said a man in his 20s, probably. The human equivalent of 20s.
- I would like some rice, gray mushrooms, salt, pepper and two or three eggs.
- Incoming! Anything else ol' Lady?
- Well, I do need something else. Do you know where the Town Hall is? I'm not from here.
- I can tell... I mean, I sure do! Just walk two more blocks, you won't miss it!
- Thank you so much Mr. So, how much for these groceries?
- 20 gold coins is fine Ms... Ely- El- Elder.
- Elyrielle. Thanks either way. Have a good day! - Said she and walked out. She could still feel the seller's eyes piercing through her back. She guessed that he might never seen an elder walking like that before outside her kingdom. She hoped that she would get used to the staring thing soon.
The town was a little crowded now. Many young and old men walking around in ropes of various capes that went from black to blue tones. Each one of them with at least one bird flying around them. Most of them were a relatively young man and an old one, probably a student and the master. The young ones carrying heavy books and potions while the older ones carried only their staff or trustworthy spell books.
Finally, she saw a big wooden building where people got in and out. She distinguished what seemed like a reception and went there.
- Good morning Lady! I'm Elyrielle, and I'm looking for some missions to take.
- Missions? Quests ya mean? - Said a young woman with died red hair and a simple brown and gray dress.
-Oh, sure! Quests. That is how you call it now. Where can I pick one?
-Over there, mark on the board the one that ya want. Got it long ears?
Elyrielle raised an eyebrow but decides to smile and walked away. "Long ears"? Some kids needed to learn modals she thought to herself.
She found the board and started looking for a not taken spot. She almost forgot that she needed to team up with a group to get a "quest" so that kind of annoyed her.
She found a spot and grabbed a pen to write her name on it. Before she could, a cold hand grabbed her shoulder. She jumped, and her ears pointed upwards.
-Hi there! that's our group. Ya sure you want to join us? Ya seem a little ol'.
Elyrielle laughed, and her ears returned to their normal position. Definitely, these young adventurers made her feel old. They made sure of it.
- Yes Mr knight. I would want to join your group if you all agree to it.
The group consisted of a young male, olive skin, brown eyes, and full silver armor. A young male, blonde with a small and frankly ugly beard and green eyes, and a young female with round brown ears, a small round tail, and deep brown eyes.
- Well, see ya at 6 pm here then. My name's Edward, the wizard's Leonard and she is Louise. Nice to meet ya. And you are?
Oh! pardon my modals! My name is Elyrielle. Nice to meet you, too.
And before she knew it, Elyrielle made her first team party to do her first quest.
