Short Stories: Velvet Desires! (Taekook)
Runaway Bride! #7
The sun had barely begun to dip below the horizon when Taehyung and Jungkook pulled up to a quiet park, the hum of the motorcycle still ringing in their ears.
Taehyung sighed with relief, finally feeling like they could breathe easy—until he spotted the familiar luxury cars parked in the lot, and his heart sank.
Kim Taehyung
Jungkook… (Taehyung whispered, his voice trembling)
Kim Taehyung
They found us. 😰
Jungkook, ever the carefree soul, looked back and smirked.
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
Guess it’s showtime, princess! (he said, though his tone softened when he noticed the nervousness in Taehyung’s eyes)
Taehyung straightened up, pulling his jacket tight around him as he spotted his family stepping out of their cars.
His mother, father, and brother, all impeccably dressed as always, walked towards them with a sense of authority that made Taehyung’s stomach churn.
???
You’ve really gone this far, Taehyung? (His father’s voice cut through the air like a knife)
???
Running away from your responsibilities like a child? ❄️
Taehyung’s fingers curled into fists at his sides.
He wasn’t a child anymore.
He was a grown man, and it was about time they saw that.
???
Dad, I— (Taehyung began, but his brother, Jimin, stepped forward, his expression a mixture of concern and disappointment)
Park Jimin
Taehyung, you can’t keep doing this. (Jimin said softly, but his voice was firm)
Park Jimin
You’re throwing everything away.
Park Jimin
The family, the life we’ve planned for you…
Taehyung shook his head, his chest tightening.
Kim Taehyung
I’m not throwing anything away.
Kim Taehyung
I’m choosing my life, Jimin. My happiness.
Kim Taehyung
And I can’t do that if I’m constantly controlled by your expectations.
Jungkook, standing by Taehyung’s side with his hands casually shoved in his jacket pockets, smiled a little to himself.
The guy had guts. He knew Taehyung had always been the quiet one, the gentle one, but now… now Taehyung was speaking up.
He stepped forward, brushing his fingers lightly against Taehyung’s arm.
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
You see… (Jungkook began with a mischievous grin)
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
Taehyung’s more than just a pawn in your game. He’s an artist.
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
He’s got dreams. And guess what?
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
He gets to choose how he lives. Not you.
Taehyung’s family turned their shocked gazes to Jungkook, his confident smirk throwing them off guard.
???
Who the hell are you? (Taehyung’s father asked, his tone sharp, but Jungkook was unfazed)
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
I’m the guy who’s helping him be happy… (Jungkook replied cheekily)
Jeon Jungkook (Rider)
And I think that’s a damn good reason for you to shut up and listen.
Taehyung’s mother stepped forward, her eyes filled with concern.
???
Taehyung, you don’t understand.
???
This marriage is what’s best for you.
???
We’ve arranged it for your future, for the family’s future.
Kim Taehyung
I don’t need a marriage to define my future. (Taehyung said, his voice growing steadier as he turned to face his family)
Kim Taehyung
I need to find my own way.
Kim Taehyung
To paint, to explore the world, to do what I want.
Kim Taehyung
Not live the life you think I should.
