Jungkook was so focused on Jinho that he didn’t see Taehyung leave his booth and cross the floor. Just as he reached the bar, he felt a hand brush against his shoulder, the touch light but deliberate. he froze, his heart pounding, and turned to face him.
Kim Taehyung
(smooth, almost teasing)
"Fancy seeing you here, Jungkook. Didn’t take you for the clubbing type."
His eyes widened for a split second before he forced herself to stay calm. he shrugged off his hand, his voice sharp.
Jeon Jungkook
"I could say the same about you. Shouldn’t you be hosting some gala or closing a business deal?"
Taehyung chuckled, the sound low and dark, as he took a step closer, his presence almost suffocating in its intensity.
Kim Taehyung
"Even I need a break sometimes. But you... you don’t seem like you’re here for the drinks or the music. So, tell me, Jungkook—what are you really doing here?"
Jungkook held his ground, tilting his chin up defiantly. His mind raced, trying to come up with an excuse, but he knew Taehyung wasn’t a man who could be fooled easily.
Jeon Jungkook
(coolly)
"Maybe I just wanted to have some fun. Not everything I do is work, you know."
Kim Taehyung
"Is that so? Funny, because you’ve been staring at Jinho over there like he owes you money. Or is it something else he owes you?"
His stomach dropped He noticed. Of course, he had. Taehyung didn’t miss a thing. he cursed herself silently for underestimating him, but he refused to let him see his falter.
Jeon Jungkook
(Crossing his arms)
"And what if I was? You think I need your permission to talk to someone?"
Kim Taehyung
(Leaning in, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper)
"No, but you need to be careful whose business you stick your nose into. You might find yourself in over your head."
Their proximity was electric, a mixture of challenge and unspoken understanding crackling between them. Jungkook’s heart raced, but he didn’t back down. he was so close to his goal, and he wasn’t about to let Taehyung scare him off.
Jeon Jungkook
(steady, meeting his gaze)
"Maybe I like the thrill of danger. Maybe I’m not as easily intimidated as you think."
Taehyung’s expression shifted slightly, his smirk fading into something darker, more intense. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the noise of the club fading into the background. Then, he took a step back, giving him space but not releasing him from the weight of his gaze.
Kim Taehyung
"I’ll give you credit, Jungkook. You’ve got guts. But guts won’t save you if you keep chasing shadows. Watch yourself."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving him standing there, his heart pounding and his mind reeling. he knew he’d just been warned, but he also knew he couldn’t stop. Not now.
