The sun had barely risen when Jungkook received a text message from an unknown number. The contents made his heart sink: a single address and the words, “We need to talk. Bring no one.” he knew exactly who it was. Taehyung. Refusing wasn’t an option—not with his family’s safety hanging in the balance. He threw on his jacket, grabbed his bag, and headed out, his mind racing with a thousand worst-case scenarios.
When he arrived, he found himself in an unfamiliar high-rise office building. The receptionist directed him to the top floor, where Taehyung was waiting. The elevator ride felt like an eternity, each ding of the floors passing making her stomach churn. When the doors slid open, he stepped into a sprawling office, the city skyline visible through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Taehyung sat at his desk, leaning back in his chair with a glass of whiskey in hand. He looked completely at ease, as if he hadn’t spent the past week orchestrating his downfall. His piercing gaze landed on him the moment he stepped in.

"Jungkook. Right on time. Please, sit."
He didn’t sit. Instead, he crossed his arms and glared at him.

"Why am I here? Haven’t you tormented me enough?"

"Tormented? I’d call it persuasion. But I didn’t bring you here to argue semantics. I have a proposition for you."
Taehyung rose from his chair and walked around the desk, closing the distance between them. Jungkook’s instincts screamed at him to step back, but he held his ground.

You’re smart, resourceful, and fearless. Qualities that are hard to come by. Instead of wasting your time trying to bring me down, why not work with me?"

(snapping)
"Work with you? You mean for you. As what? Your puppet?"

: (chuckling)
"Hardly. I want you to be my eyes and ears in places I can’t reach. You’d have access to resources you couldn’t even dream of. Imagine the stories you could uncover—real stories, not just the scraps you’ve been chasing."
Jungkook clenched his fists, his jaw tightening. The audacity of his offer was infuriating, but what angered him more was how calm and confident he was, as if he already knew his answer.

"And if I refuse?"

(his voice dropping)
"You won’t. Not unless you’re willing to risk your family. You know I don’t make empty threats."

(through gritted teeth)
"You’re disgusting. Using innocent people to get what you want."

(coldly)
"Innocence is a luxury in this world, Jungkook. You’ll learn that soon enough."
The room fell silent, the tension between them thick and suffocating. Jungkook’s mind raced as he weighed his options. he hated him. Hated everything he stood for. But could he really risk his family’s lives?

(finally)
"Fine. I’ll work for you. But don’t think for a second that I trust you."
Kim Taehyung
(smirking)
"I wouldn’t expect you to. Trust is earned, after all. And you’re about to see just how much I can offer."
Jungkook left the office with his heart heavy and his mind spinning. he had crossed a line, one he wasn’t sure he could ever come back from. But as much as he hated himself for it, he knew he had no choice. His family’s safety came first.
Taehyung watched him go, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. He had won this round, but he knew the real battle was only beginning. Jungkook was a wild card, and he would need to keep a close eye on him. But for now, He was his. And that was enough.
