EARTH 1010 The Alpha’s Secret (pt.1)
Somewhere in Multiple verses
In the city of Earth 1010, Joshua Hong was known as a force to be reckoned with. A powerful alpha and the CEO of his own company, Joshua commanded respect and sometimes even fear from those around him. His sharp gaze, strong voice, and powerful aura set him apart, leaving few brave enough to question him. Yet for all his strength and dominance, there was one person for whom Joshua reserved a gentler side: his younger omega brother, Seungkwan.
Seungkwan, meanwhile, was the opposite of his brother in almost every way. Where Joshua was intense and direct, Seungkwan was lighthearted, quick to laugh, and sensitive. The younger omega had a natural charm that made people gravitate towards him. In college, he was known for his warm smile and easygoing nature. But beneath his cheerfulness was an emotional depth, an intense need to feel loved and cherished, perhaps a vulnerability that his brother had always sensed and sought to protect.
Joshua had always been protective of Seungkwan, watching over him since they were children. He saw Seungkwan as someone who needed shielding from the world’s harshness. With Seungkwan’s warm-hearted, trusting nature, Joshua knew his brother could be vulnerable, and he made it his mission to keep him safe. Seungkwan, in turn, admired Joshua deeply, looking up to him not only as a brother but as a figure of strength and security. However, there was a part of Seungkwan that was also a little afraid of his brother’s overbearing protectiveness, especially when it came to relationships.
Lately, Joshua had noticed something different about Seungkwan. At first, it was subtle. Seungkwan was spending more time in front of the mirror, choosing his outfits more carefully, and even lingering a little longer in the bathroom. When Joshua asked, Seungkwan would brush it off, giving vague answers about just wanting to look good. But then Joshua began noticing other things: Seungkwan would come home late, often with a faint blush on his cheeks, and he’d disappear into his room, smiling at his phone.
One evening, Joshua caught sight of Seungkwan leaning against the kitchen counter, engrossed in a message, his expression soft and distant.
Joshua
(Trying to sound casual)Who’s got you smiling like that?
Seungkwan
(Startled, Seungkwan fumbled with his phone, his face flushing deeply) No one, hyung. Just... a friend.
Joshua raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced but deciding to let it slide. After all, Seungkwan was growing up; he was allowed to have his own life, even if it was hard for Joshua to accept.
But today the change in Seungkwan was more troubling. The once-cheerful young omega seemed quiet, his usual smile replaced by a look of sadness. He would sit silently, barely looking at his phone now, and even when he did, his face held a pained expression.
At Night, as Joshua walked past Seungkwan’s room, he heard quiet, choked sobs from inside. Concern flooding him, Joshua knocked gently but got no answer. Without hesitation, he opened the door and stepped inside to find Seungkwan curled up on his bed, face buried in his arms, shoulders shaking with silent tears. His phone was buzzing incessantly on the bed beside him.
Joshua
(Softly, his voice filled with worry) Boo....
Seungkwan
(Looked up, startled, and quickly wiped his face, trying to force a smile) H-Hyung… I didn’t hear you knock.
Joshua
(Frowned, moving closer to the bed) Don’t pretend with me, Boo. I can see you’re hurting. What’s going on?
Seungkwan
(Shook his head, attempting a weak laugh) It’s… nothing, really
Joshua
(Firmly, sitting down beside him and wrapping an arm around his shoulders) Don’t lie to me. I know something’s wrong. Tell me.
Seungkwan
(Hesitated, looking down at his lap, his fingers twisting nervously)
Seungkwan
(Finally, he took a deep breath and said) Hyung… I… I have a boyfriend
Joshua
(Stiffened, his protectiveness instantly flaring up) A boyfriend? Since when? And why didn’t you tell me?
Seungkwan
(Winced at his brother’s sharp tone) That’s exactly why I didn’t tell you. I knew you’d react like this.
Joshua
(Closed his eyes briefly, trying to keep his emotions in check) I’m not angry, Boo. I just wish you’d told me. Why hide it from me?
Seungkwan
(Looked away, his voice barely a whisper) I… I didn’t want you to worry. And I didn’t want you to… scare him off.
Joshua
(Expression softened though a flicker of hurt remained in his eyes) I wouldn’t have done that… Well, maybe. But if he made you happy, I would’ve respected it.
Joshua
(Glanced at Seungkwan, noting the sadness in his face) But… you’re not happy, are you?
Seungkwan
(Swallowed hard, his eyes filling with tears again) No, hyung… I’m not.
Joshua
(Felt his heart sink) What happened? Did he do something to hurt you?
Seungkwan didn’t answer right away, but his silence spoke volumes. He glanced down at his phone, which was still buzzing with messages and calls. Joshua’s eyes followed, a frown forming on his face.
Joshua
Is that him calling?
Seungkwan
(Nodded letting out a shaky breath) Yes. He keeps calling, but… I don’t want to talk to him, hyung. I can’t.
The words hit Joshua like a wave of fury, and he could barely contain the anger that simmered beneath his calm exterior.
Joshua
(Tone was dangerously low) Did he give you any reason to think that?
Seungkwan
(Nodded, tears spilling down his cheeks) He’s been distant, hyung. And… today, I saw a picture of him with someone else. They looked… close
Joshua
(Clenched into fists) Did you ask him about it? Did he tell you anything?
Seungkwan
(Shook his head, wiping his eyes) I tried, but he just told me not to worry said I was imagining things. But I can’t shake this feeling, hyung… It hurts so much
Joshua
(Reached out, wrapping an arm around his brother’s shoulders and pulling him close) Oh, Boo… You don’t deserve this. You’re worth so much more than someone who makes you feel like this.
Joshua’s heart broke hearing the pain in Seungkwan’s voice. He stroked his brother’s hair gently, letting him release the sadness he had been keeping inside
Joshua
You didn’t do anything wrong, Boo. Sometimes… people just aren’t who they pretend to be. But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for someone who treats you like this.
Seungkwan
(Looked up, his tear-streaked face etched with pain) I don’t know how to let go, hyung. I just… I thought we’d be happy together. That I’d found someone who cared about me
They sat in silence for a moment, Seungkwan leaning into Joshua’s embrace as he tried to find comfort in his brother’s presence. Joshua’s anger simmered beneath the surface, his thoughts racing as he tried to think of ways to protect Seungkwan from further pain. He couldn’t stand the idea of his little brother being treated so poorly, and a part of him wanted nothing more than to confront this boyfriend and make him realize the mistake he’d made.
Seungkwan’s phone buzzed again, and this time, Joshua glanced down at the screen, noticing the contact name flashing repeatedly. His jaw tightened
Joshua
Do you want me to answer it?
Seungkwan
(shook his head)No, hyung. I… I can’t talk to him. I don’t even know what I’d say.
Joshua
(Nodding) Alright. You don’t have to talk to him if you’re not ready. But remember this, Boo—if he really cared about you, he wouldn’t make you feel like this.
Seungkwan
(Sniffled, burying his face in his brother’s shoulder) Thank you, hyung… for being here.
Joshua
(Hugged him tightly, his voice soft but firm) Always, Boo. I’ll always be here for you.
As Seungkwan’s sobs quieted and his breathing evened out, Joshua held him close, brushing a hand over his hair. He knew the road to healing would be difficult, and Seungkwan might still have moments of doubt and pain. But Joshua was determined to be there every step of the way, a constant source of support and strength.
And as he sat there, holding his sleeping brother, Joshua promised himself one thing: he would ensure that Seungkwan would never have to go through this kind of heartbreak again.
That night, Joshua sat on his bed, bathed in the silver glow of the moonlight streaming through his window. He was lost in thought, staring up at the sky, feeling an ache he hadn’t felt in years. He touched the faint scar on his neck, where an old mark. The pain of betrayal, of giving his heart to someone only to watch them destroy it, was something he’d long buried. Now, seeing his little brother go through something similar brought it all back, sharper than before.
He clenched his jaw, vowing silently that Seungkwan would never feel the depth of hurt he once did. And if that meant protecting him from a careless alpha, he would do it.
Meanwhile, across the hallway, Seungkwan was asleep, finally finding some peace after a night of tears. His breathing was slow and steady, and the dampness on his pillow was drying as he clutched his blanket, exhausted from crying himself to sleep.
Outside, someone moved through the shadows, slipping quietly along the edge of the house. A person had climbed up to Seungkwan’s balcony and was now sliding the door open with practiced caution. He’d tried everything—calls, messages, even waiting outside the house for a glimpse of his boyfriend—but nothing worked. Seungkwan had shut him out entirely, and he knew he couldn’t let things end this way.
He crept inside, his heart pounding as he approached Seungkwan’s bed. In the soft moonlight, he could see Seungkwan’s tear-streaked face, and guilt twisted in his chest. Quietly, he slipped under the covers beside him, lying still, hoping his presence would somehow soothe the sadness he’d caused.
Early the next morning, Seungkwan stirred, slowly opening his eyes to the warm sunlight streaming through his window. He stretched and turned over, his heart nearly stopping when he found someone lying beside him, watching him with soft eyes.
Seungkwan
(Eyes wide with shock and confusion) What… what are you doing here?
Vernon
(Sat up as well, reaching for Seungkwan’s hand, though Seungkwan pulled away, still guarded) I’m sorry, Boo. I had to come. You wouldn’t answer my calls, my texts… I couldn’t let you believe something that isn’t true
Seungkwan
(Frowned, his gaze a mixture of hurt and anger) What’s there to explain, Vernon? I saw the picture. I saw you with her, laughing, looking so… close. I don’t understand how you could…
Vernon
(interrupted)Baby.. listen to me
Vernon
(Gently, leaning closer) She’s just a friend. We’ve known each other since childhood, and I was just catching up with her. It wasn’t anything more than that. I swear.
Seungkwan
(Crossed his arms, looking away) Then why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you even think to explain when you saw how I was feeling? You just brushed me off like I was imagining things.
Vernon
(Sighed, his voice soft) You’re right. I should have explained right then, and I’m sorry for that. I was… I guess I was careless. But you mean the world to me, Boo. I would never cheat on you, not even for a second.
Seungkwan
(Eyes softened, but the doubt lingered) How am I supposed to believe that, Vernon? Do you know how much it hurt to see that picture? To see you with someone else?
Vernon
(Cupping Seungkwan’s cheek) I’m so sorry, Boo. I can’t change what you felt, but I can tell you the truth. She’s engaged—she showed me her ring right after that picture was taken. She wanted me to meet her fiancé, actually. You can even ask her if you don’t believe me.
Seungkwan felt a wave of relief wash over him, and he let out a shaky breath, his hand slowly covering Vernon’s
Seungkwan
I… I don’t know. I was so scared, Vernon. I thought I was losing you.
Vernon
(Pulled him into a tight hug, pressing his lips to the top of Seungkwan’s head) I’m sorry, Boo. I’m sorry I made you feel like that. I never want to hurt you. Please, trust me—I’ll be more careful from now on.
Seungkwan
(Relaxed into Vernon’s embrace, his head resting against Vernon’s chest) Just… promise me you won’t ever hide things like that again. I don’t want to feel like this anymore.
Vernon
I’ll always be honest with you, even about the little things. You’re my everything, Boo. I can’t imagine my life without you.
Seungkwan
(Eyes filled with tears again, but this time they were from relief) Thank you, Vernon. I… I don’t know what I’d do without you.
Vernon
(Smiled, wiping the tears from Seungkwan’s cheeks) Well, you don’t have to find out. I’m not going anywhere.
Seungkwan gave a small laugh, feeling the weight lift from his heart as he leaned into Vernon’s chest, feeling safe and loved. And for the first time in days, he felt a sense of peace, knowing that Vernon was here, by his side, just as he’d always promised.
As Seungkwan and Vernon stayed close, savoring their moment of reconciliation, they were interrupted by a sudden sound—a distinct creak at the door. Seungkwan’s heart skipped a beat as he looked up to see Joshua stood in the doorway, the scent of an unfamiliar alpha lingering in the air, making his jaw tighten. His gaze landed on Vernon, still seated on the bed beside Seungkwan, and something in his expression turned cold. The memories of his own past, of betrayal and wounds he had never shared with anyone, flashed through his mind, intensifying his protective instincts for his younger brother.
Joshua
(thinking) boo is dating Ver..Vernon
Joshua
(Voice was sharp, and eyes didn’t leave the young alpha) Out. Now.
Seungkwan
(Eyes went wide as he sat up, his voice panicked) Hyung, wait—please, just let us explain!
Joshua
(unyielding a hint of finality in his tone) Seungkwan, I’ll talk to you after. For now, I need to speak with him.
Vernon shot Seungkwan an uncertain look, but he rose and followed Joshua to the living room, his shoulders tense. Joshua’s presence alone was powerful, radiating an air of authority that made the younger alpha feel small. Joshua had always commanded respect as the CEO of his own company, and now Vernon was feeling the full weight of that power directed squarely at him.
When they reached the living room, Joshua crossed his arms and stared at Vernon with a chilling intensity.
Joshua
You’re the one my brother has been sneaking around with?
Vernon
(Nodded, clearing his throat to respond) Yes, sir. I’m… I’m Seungkwan’s boyfriend.
Joshua
(Scoffed, the word) Boyfriend
Joshua
(Gaze harsh unreadable) You think I’m going to stand by and let you continue seeing him?
Vernon
(Swallowed) Mr. Hong, with all due respect, I care about Seungkwan. I would never hurt him.
Joshua
I know exactly who you are, Vernon. And I know the type. You alphas, with your promises of loyalty and love…
Joshua
(bitterness)You’ll just end up hurting him.
Seungkwan
Vernon isn’t like that. He’s good to me—he cares for me. Please, just let us explain.
Joshua turned his gaze to Seungkwan, and a flicker of sadness softened his expression, though only for a moment
Joshua
(turn back to Vernon ignoring boo )Because from where I’m standing, you’ve already made my brother cry over you.
Vernon
(Expression hardened, and he took a step forward) I know I made a mistake, and I take responsibility for that. But I want to fix things with him. I want to prove myself.
Joshua
(Cold voice) Promises. I’ve heard it all before. People say one thing, but the moment things get complicated, they disappear, leaving nothing but hurt behind.
Seungkwan
(Confused but resolute, stepping closer to his brother) Hyung, you don’t understand. Vernon and I have talked, and he’s been nothing but honest with me. I know he won’t hurt me.
Joshua
Are you just so eager to believe that he’ll be different because you don’t know what real betrayal feels like?
Seungkwan
Hyung, please. I love him, and he makes me happy. Can’t you trust me to make my own choices?
Joshua’s gaze shifted, a flicker of pain passing through his eyes that he quickly masked. He had never told anyone about his own scars, his own mark—a mark no one even knew existed. He had vowed to carry the burden alone, without ever letting his pain touch his family, especially Seungkwan. But now, seeing his baby brother so vulnerable and open, he knew he couldn’t let Seungkwan go down that same path.
Joshua
I can’t let you date him, Seungkwan. You’re too young and too naive to understand what you’re getting into
Seungkwan
(Face fell, and a mix of frustration and hurt crossed his expression) Hyung, that’s not fair! You can’t control who I love.
Joshua
(cold) I’m doing this to protect you, Boo. You’re my little brother. I won’t stand by and let you get hurt.
Vernon
(Respectful) Mr. Hong, with all due respect, you don’t know me. I may have made a mistake, but I’m willing to spend every day proving that I’m here for Seungkwan, that I’m not like—
Joshua
(cut him Voice sharp)And if you think I’m going to let my brother risk his happiness on someone who could break his heart, you’re wrong.
Seungkwan
(Eyes filled with tears, but he tried to hold his ground)Hyung, I’m not a child. I can make my own decisions.
Joshua
I know you think that, Boo, but some pain… it never really goes away. I won’t let you suffer like that, not when I can protect you from it.
Vernon
(Clenched his fists, frustrated) I get that you want to protect him, but keeping us apart is just going to hurt him too.
Joshua
(cold) If you really cared for him, you’d walk away.
Seungkwan
(Pleading) Please, Vernon… don’t leave me.
Seungkwan’s face crumpled, his hands clinging tightly to Vernon’s
Seungkwan
You don’t have to leave
Seungkwan
Please... just stay
Vernon took a steadying breath, eyes flickering between Seungkwan and Joshua, who stood like a sentinel behind his brother, unyielding. Gently, Vernon placed his hand over Seungkwan's, giving it one last, comforting squeeze.
Vernon
(Softly) I’ll come back tomorrow. I promise. I’m not giving up on us. But... for now, I think your brother needs some time to understand.
Seungkwan
(Nodded, a tear slipping down his cheek as he whispered) Tomorrow?
Vernon
(Reassuring smile) Tomorrow
He brushed his thumb over Seungkwan’s hand one last time, then turned and walked out. The door clicked softly shut, leaving a quiet that felt both heavy and fragile.
Joshua didn’t said a word settling heavily between them. He pulled Seungkwan into a gentle hug, both of them standing there in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.
And in the quiet, Seungkwan held on to one thing: Vernon would come back tomorrow.
As Vernon promised Every day Vernon showed up at Joshua's house, determination etched in his face as he tried, again and again, to win Joshua's trust. He’d come after Seungkwan’s classes, offering to help around the house, bringing gifts for Seungkwan, and trying to show Joshua that his intentions were genuine.
But Joshua’s cold stare, his impenetrable walls, never softened. He remained fiercely protective, putting himself between Seungkwan and Vernon at every turn. Joshua barely allowed a single conversation between the two, keeping his interactions with Vernon brief and to the point, his voice laced with a warning that he wasn’t backing down.
Vernon would simply grit his teeth and come back the next day, undeterred. Even as Joshua brushed him off, even as he threw up walls around Seungkwan, Vernon showed up.
Finally, one afternoon, after another long standoff in the living room, Vernon exhaled and looked at Joshua with a steady gaze.
Vernon
(hesitantly) someone else is coming to speak with you. An elder. Someone who can help you see things differently.
Joshua’s brow furrowed in suspicion, his mind immediately landing on a single possibility. He glanced briefly at Seungkwan, who sat beside him on the couch, watching the exchange with tense anticipation.
Joshua’s eyes narrowed slightly as he considered the implication. Vernon’s parents, he thought immediately. He knew them from business—esteemed, respected, and the type who weren’t easily persuaded. But it felt odd; he couldn’t picture Vernon being the kind to bring his family into something like this. If Vernon had really reached out to them, he must be desperate to prove his sincerity. Joshua felt a flicker of annoyance and frustration—was Vernon ready to go that far?
But his mind, almost unwillingly, went further.
Joshua
(thinking)Vernon’s parents got involved, maybe… no, he wouldn’t show up. No, that’s ridiculous
Joshua
I’m just thinking too much.
Later that evening, after Vernon had left, Joshua retreated to the kitchen to cook, thinking over the day’s events. His mind churned, replaying the endless debates with Vernon, the resolve that wouldn’t let him back down, and the memories he buried deep. He was in the middle of slicing vegetables when, out of nowhere, he felt a warm pair of arms slip around his waist, pulling him into a gentle embrace from behind.
A Familiar embrace.
Unknown
(whispered) Miss me, baby?
Familiar voice, whispering against his ear, sending a shiver down his spine.
The words froze Joshua in place, He knew that voice too well—the voice that held pieces of his past he’d locked away, memories he’d never wanted to revisit. His heart began to race, a storm of emotions stirring within him as he stood there, paralyzed in the warmth of the embrace, his mind battling against the sudden flood of long-buried feelings.
