Chapter Three-Kaleb’s back story with Sarah

Kaleb was born in Lindale, Texas December 28th, 1995. He was always such a kind-hearted child from stories he once told me later on in life. Now from stories he shared from the past I’m certain he was a happy loving kid, he loved music and his family. He cherished his friends and loved his life. He had such many great memories of his childhood. However the older Kaleb got, the more rebellious he became. He gradually began to explore his identity and wanted to find himself. From his stories, Kaleb decided to change who he was around 12 years old. It was the first day of sixth grade at a school called west middle school when Sarah crossed paths with Kaleb. first day in science class with a teacher named “Mr. Olson.” Everyone in that class lined up in the back waiting to find out where they were assigned to sit. Eventually, Mr. Olson has called out Kaleb's name right after Sarah’s. Once Kaleb sat down in his seat he was smiling, he frowned and kept his head down with his hair over his eyes. That time Kaleb was known to be such a trouble maker. His hair grew long past his eyes and he was known to be a basic emo/gothic kid with an attitude. But that wasn’t all true about him. Kaleb loved the great outdoors and loved to explore. He had always been down for an adventure. Even if it was risky and could get him into trouble. He loved heavy metal music and even sang in his own small band. His favorite animal was a brown bear and loved to draw. Unfortunately, at this young of an age, he happens to get involved with many different drugs secretly without anyone knowing what he had been doing. Once Sarah sat down next to him her very first words to him were “you are freaking sexy.” The moment Sarah saw him. Kaleb and Sarah locked eyes with an immediate connection. Kaleb smiled at Sarah and replied with two simple words. “Oh yeah?”

After that moment Kaleb and Sarah exchanged numbers after class and talked a lot after class. They talked outside of school and sometimes even all night long. they became great friends while days past on. Every day they became inseparable. Sarah learned so much about Kaleb within the first month of school. Kaleb had a contagious smile, a contagious laugh, and a contagious voice that could make anyone smile.

As days went by Sarah learned Kaleb was actually a very broken kid. His childhood changed when he began to change. At the time when Kaleb decided to go through an emo/gothic stage people he deeply cared for had abandoned him. Neglected him and treated him like he became trash. Kaleb began to feel alone and heartbroken thinking he wasn’t worth anything. Everyone around him seemed to reject him and even became extremely abusive towards him. Kaleb has told Sarah she was the only one he had gotten to know who chose to stick with him and didn’t treat him any different. Sarah learned how Kaleb began to choose drugs to forget the pain around him. Kaleb had also slept around with many different girls to try and feel that connection and love he desired. However every time he felt a possibility his heart got trampled on and torn apart. Girls used Kaleb as a very easy target to get materialistic stuff, sexual desires or anything that these girls could get from him.

So Sarah has felt so much sorrow in her heart after knowing how much Kaleb had been abused and used, eventually leading up to drug addiction Sarah didn’t want to ever leave his side. She vowed she would stick by him till the very end. Kaleb told Sarah every hidden secrete Kaleb held inside. Because he trusted her, out of every friendship he created, Kaleb knew Sarah was the only real friend. They became close friends that had convinced other people they became a couple. Sarah thought otherwise and denied it. Sarah kept telling everyone they were nothing but close best friends. Whereas Kaleb began to fall in love with Sarah and tell everyone the opposite of what Sarah kept telling people. To Sarah, Kaleb was like her brother and she cherished him deeply. But Kaleb had begun to want Sarah more so he gave Sarah obvious hints of his feelings towards Her by showing certain emotions and affections towards her. However, even though Kaleb and Sarah were close, Sarah always rejected him. Because Sarah is a Christian, Kaleb was an atheist. Sarah always reminded him that if he even wanted a chance with her he would have to find God and become a Christian. She didn’t want to be in a relationship that was unequally yoked with her. But she didn’t realize she was allowing her faith to affect Kaleb in a negative way. She was still clueless about how she was treating him and never bothered to share why it’s important to her to believe. which only hurt Kaleb deep down. The only secrete Kaleb kept from telling Sarah was His true feelings because Sarah chose not to see the obvious hints and love he had to give her.

He was lost and needed direction, yet Sarah ignored him unintentionally. Focused on her own selfish needs. The more and more Kaleb chose to just shut his real feelings away the more Sarah began to just assume he didn't truly want her by changing. Not realizing that forcing someone to believe just to have her was the wrong action to make. Kaleb didn't understand why Christianity was even worth to believe in. Everything that was going wrong in his life only lead him further away from the faith. Sarah could have instead explained to Caleb why her faith is important to her and why she is Christian. And how it could even help change his life. But Sarah never spoke about it because Kaleb always rejected the faith. So Sarah gave up and stopped. However the actions Sarah chose to do also told Kaleb about her faith. Kaleb watched Sarah’s obsession increase with boy bands. Such as the Jonas Brothers, one direction, etc. However, what Kaleb learned about Christianity from Sarah was the opposite of what he needed to see. But without confronting and calling Sarah out on her lack of Christian like example, he preferred to allow Sarah to be happy rather than his own happiness and questions. He was happy knowing that regardless of the way he always saw and viewed life. How he constantly mocked her faith, he knew regardless of all the small petty fights, Sarah never once left him and tossed the friendship away, she was always there for him. But as the years went on. He suffered through with his life with everyone around him hating him and how he filled his life with deeper depression. He was stuck in the darkness holding on to a small amount of light. Kaleb suffered and continued seeking affection with other girls, he began to suffer with his self-image, he began to fill his body with more drugs such as meth, heroin, cocaine, etc. Kaleb had also gotten into drinking alcohol that helped him forget his pain and sorrow for a short time. He drowned his mind in music that told him he is worthless and better to die. He cried himself to sleep and even slit his wrists daily. Watching his thick warm blood drip down his arms he laughed and smiled at his pain. His family and fake friends began to slowly fade from him and even became more toxic and abusive. Kaleb lived with getting emotionally and physically beat. The only comfort he could feel was the hug and encouragement from Sarah. Kaleb couldn't help himself but to slightly pressure Sarah into some unexpected affectionate actions during those times being under the influence. Every time when he had a day when he hated everything and life. Always telling Sarah everything, Kaleb showed Sarah bruises and cut marks on his arms and even thighs. Which always freaked her out and caused Sarah to cry telling him she wants him to stop. Sarah allowed herself to have a few intimate heavy make-out sessions with Kaleb because deep down she was attracted to him, and wanted to do anything to help him feel better and stop his pain. She loved Kaleb just as much as he loved her, but chose to deny them because of different believe views. However, Kaleb wanted more of Sarah but refused to move further because he respected the fact Sarah was a ****** and she told him to stop. Kaleb always stopped himself even though he knew he could have easily taken what he wanted from her. But he cherished his friendship with her far too much to force his needs on her. Kaleb held his feeling back and continued to cut himself, he dived deeper into sorrow and sadness. just to allow Sarah to feel comfortable and obsess with these boy bands or even other ’cute’ boys. He only caused himself to suffer by not telling her what he truly felt for her. Which lead up to Sarah’s biggest mistake on that day that killed both of them. Kaleb kept calling out for help. And Sarah never noticed because of being blinded by the unlikely to happen obsessions.
