Chapter 12 :Question Untold

Tink / Bellaire Von DeLuca

The first year of school had been a whirlwind of new experiences, but nothing could have prepared us for the strange turn our lives had taken since Elias arrived. It was as if a shadow had fallen over our once-ordinary existence, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were on the brink of something monumental.

Mia’s brow furrowed , but there was a flicker of understanding in her eyes. "You think he’s... what? A bad guy? A witch? A—"

"Maybe all of the above," I interjected, urgency creeping back into my voice. "I felt something when he looked at you. It was like he was trying to pull you into his world, and I couldn’t let that happen."

She sat up, the blindfold slipping down her forehead. "So you think I was under some kind of spell?"

"Not just any spell," I said, my voice dropping to a whisper. "A binding spell. It’s powerful and dangerous, especially if it targets someone with your heritage."

Mia’s expression hardened. "What do you mean by my heritage?"

I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Your family line is special, Mia. There are secrets tied to it—secrets that might explain why Elias is so interested in you."

She looked at me, searching for answers in my eyes. " I know what you mean my family isn’t just... normal.

I nodded slowly. "There’s more to it than we know more than he talked about. And Elias seems to know something we don’t."

Mia took a deep breath, her resolve returning. "Okay, so what do we do now?"

I glanced at the window, where the sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the room. "We need to dig deeper into your family history. We need to find out what Elias knows and why he’s drawn to you."

As we began to formulate a plan, a sudden chill swept through the room. The air grew heavy with an unspoken tension, and I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

"Mia," I whispered, "do you feel that?"

Before she could respond, the door creaked open slightly, revealing a figure cloaked in darkness. It was a man who was wearing a guard uniform of our mantion , his presence filling the room with an unsettling energy.

The air crackled with tension as he stepped into the room, his presence dark and suffocating. Shadows seemed to cling to him, swirling like smoke. The air thickened with an unsettling energy, and I felt the protective wards I had painstakingly laid around us begin to tremble, then crack like fragile glass.

Mia gasped, her eyes darting to the flickering candles that had been our only source of light. They sputtered violently, casting erratic shadows that danced along the walls. "Tink!" she cried, clutching my arm. "What’s happening?"

I felt a cold dread settle in my stomach as I realized what was unfolding. "He’s breaking through," I whispered, panic rising in my chest. "The wards… they’re shattering!"

The Guard smiled, a predatory gleam in his eyes as he stepped further into the room. "Did you really think your little charms could keep me out forever?" His voice dripped with mockery, each word slicing through the remaining fragments of our defenses.

With a swift motion, he raised his hand, and the remnants of my protective spells burst apart like fireworks, scattering into nothingness. I could feel the weight of his power pressing down on us, suffocating and cold.I felt the protective wards we had relied on crumble away, leaving us exposed and vulnerable.

Mia , her eyes wide with fear. I stepped forward protectively, my heart pounding in my chest.

I clenched my fists, willing myself to stand firm. “You think you can intimidate us? We’re not afraid of you!”

He took a step closer, and the shadows around him seemed to pulse with life. “Fear is not the issue here. It’s understanding your place in this game.”

Just as I opened my mouth to retort, a sudden chill swept through the room, and the candles flickered violently, casting erratic shadows that danced along the walls. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

The guard chuckled softly, an eerie sound that sent shivers down my spine. "Oh, Princess! You have no idea what you’re up against."

With that, suddenly a black smokey oily substance came out of his mouth. the guard started withering in pain and screamed. the oily substance suddenly started floating in the air and in very raspy broken voice " You don’t understand what you’re involved in, Mia," he said, his voice low and broken. "There are forces at play that are beyond your comprehension." But before we could react the oily substance vanished from the room

Mia and I stood frozen for a moment, hearts racing and breaths shallow, processing what had just happened. The oppressive weight in the room lifted, replaced by an eerie calm.

“Did he just—” Mia began, her voice trembling.

“Yeah,” I replied, still reeling from the encounter. “He disappeared.”

We exchanged glances filled with disbelief and relief. The threat had momentarily receded, but I could sense that this was far from over.

“Okay,” Mia said, her voice steadier now but still laced with concern. “What does that mean? Is he gone for good?”

I shook my head slowly. “No. I don't think so ”

Mia took a deep breath, her resolve returning. “Then we need to figure this out—together.”

I nodded firmly, determination igniting within me once more. “Right. No more hiding. We’ll uncover the truth about your family, and we’ll confront Elias head-on."

As we gathered our thoughts and resolved to face whatever came next, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were standing at the edge of a much larger battle—a battle for Mia’s freedom and our lives intertwined with secrets far older than either of us could comprehend.

And somehow, I knew we were going to need all the magic and courage we could muster to navigate the storm ahead.

As we gathered our thoughts and resolved to face whatever came next, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of a much larger battle—a battle for Mia’s freedom and our lives intertwined with secrets far older than either of us could comprehend.

And somehow, I knew we were going to need all the magic and courage we could muster to navigate the storm ahead.

Suddenly I wasn't feeling very good at that point. I looked at Mia but my eyes were blurred. "Mia I don't feel very good" my voice sounded slurred to me or was it in my head.

I heard Mia screaming my name but I couldn't focus on anything because the very next moment I felt darkness in front of my eyes and I fell into the darkness.
