Episode 17

After my dinner, Dante helped me with the shower. I put on simple clothes, and Julian had already brought all my things from his house. From here, we would go straight to the hangar and then back home.

“Love, sit in the wheelchair, and I'll take you to the car. Let's avoid unnecessary effort,” Dante said, and I didn't refuse.

We went to the car and left the hospital towards the hangar. The doctor who came for my appointment was in the other car, and with him came at least 10 more soldiers, from what I saw. Julian's two trusted men were also there. I soon realized that Dante and Julian were tense. They wouldn't tell me anything, but I'm not an idiot. I wouldn't ask, but observing their movements was crucial to my survival.

“Julian, you have a loaded gun, right?” Dante asked.

“You underestimate me, dear. I always have a gun," he replied.

“There's a car following us, since the corner of the hospital," he replied once more.

“Love, put on your headphones and close your eyes. Don't open them. I downloaded this playlist for you. They're songs that remind me of you and how much I love you,” Dante said, and I was so scared that I froze. I couldn't answer; I just accepted the headphones and did as he said.

I closed my eyes, and to the sound of the music, I was able to detach myself from the moment. I had my seatbelt on, and the car was still moving. I prayed that God would protect us, and I regretted putting myself at risk like this.

Dante…

As soon as we left the hospital, I saw a car following us. It's likely the soldiers didn't find all of Banin’s men. I didn't say anything to Julian beforehand so as not to scare Samira. It’s a good thing he noticed. When they got closer, I buckled her seatbelt and gave her the headphones to listen to music. I wanted to calm her down and asked her not to open her eyes, not even for a moment.

The cars got closer, and I saw a gun pointed out the window. We were on a very busy road, and I couldn't start a “show” like that. Julian was driving, so I said:

“Julian, go to a clearer area, without so many people. The soldiers are already behind that car, as I asked. Let's go another way and stop.”

Julian's adrenaline was pumping. Even though he hadn't been involved with the mafia for a few months, it was in his blood, so he did as I said quickly.

My eyes constantly went to Samira. I saw that she wasn't crying, and her hands kept going to her belly.

“Julian, over there, make a maneuver and stop facing them. The windows are bulletproof. I'm going to open the sunroof and we’ll shoot," I said, and he cocked his gun.

In one movement, I took out my gun, and in sync, we fired. It took minutes for them to react and start firing back.

Our men started shooting too, and in no time, they were all dead. The driver, still alive, begged for mercy.

“Don, please leave me here. I won't get involved or come back. Banin is a sick sadist. I'll tell you everything I know,” he said.

“Tell me, and I'll decide if it's worth it or not," I said, and then he spoke.

“Banin doesn't want your woman for sex; he wants to use her as a toy. He abuses her in the worst ways. He has no sexual interest in any woman and said he would kill her and send you the pieces. He has the location of your hangar and your company. At this moment, he is sending people to both locations.”

“How did he know about Brazil?” Julian asked.

“There’s an informant of his in your house. The nurse is infiltrated there, passing on information,” he replied.

I shot him in the head and didn't have time to react when I saw Samira standing near us. She had been silent and heard everything. She looked at me terrified and fell. My soldier was quick and caught her. I ran to her, and the doctor came to meet me.

“Bambina, wake up, clean everything up," I said as I picked up the phone and called Fernando.

“Brother, they came after us here in Brazil. I need to land the jet at the mansion. There are people hidden in the hangar and at the company. That bitch Talia is an informant. Take her to the warehouse. I'm taking care of Samira, and we'll be back.”

“Consider it done. Dad was right. That snake will pay for this,” he said.

We decided to leave her on the floor for the doctor to treat. I put my jacket behind her head, and when I took my hand away, there was blood.

“Blood? Do something, you incompetent!” I said, grabbing the doctor by the collar.

“Calm down, sir. She's waking up, and we can go back to the hospital. Let me see her state and the severity of it, and then I'll give you a diagnosis,” he said, and Julian told me:

“Don, let the man take care of her. Calm down.”

“Miss Samira? Don't try to get up. I'm your doctor. You fainted and got a small cut on your head,” he said, and she searched for me with her eyes.

“Love, I want to stay here. I can't risk going back and being caught. That wretch wants to hurt me.” What I feared happened. She heard and remembered.

“No one is going to touch you. I need to go back, and I can't leave you here. I wouldn't have peace of mind away from you. Trust me,” I said, giving her my hand and slowly sitting her up while the doctor looked at her head. She rested her head on my chest, and when the doctor said she would need three stitches, she was terrified.

“Do you suggest we go back to the hospital? We are close to the hangar; we can go to either place," I said to him.

“It was a small cut; it's very clean. I have my things in the car. Mr. Julian, help me wash my hands and gloves with alcohol and disinfect everything. She needs to stay very still," he said.

“No, Dante. Not here. Let’s go to the plane. I'm afraid of needles. My blood pressure is still high. If I faint, at least I'm already on the plane,” she said, and I agreed.

I would certainly give her the world if she asked me to.
