When Arnaldo came to the company, I froze, felt sick, and ended up fainting. Today, my body aches, I'm excessively tired, and when I woke up, the reception was crowded. Of all days, the boss decided to come in early, and to make matters worse, he saw me faint.
"Ms. Samira, I want you in my office in 15 minutes" He said that and left immediately, his brother followed him, and everyone dispersed. I hope he doesn't fire me; now that I've moved out of my parents' house, I can't be unemployed.
"Oh dear, I hope he doesn't fire you. I spoke to the girls, and they'll take you in. You can even go tomorrow. Today we still have to sort out a few things" Julie said, and I felt relieved. At least I won't be on the streets, and I'll have time to look for another job.
"I'll go there tomorrow. Now, let me go to the enemy's lair" I said, laughing to disguise my nervousness, which was palpable between us. She also went back to work; I couldn't jeopardize someone else's job.
I got up and headed towards his office, and as I walked down the halls, I attracted more eyes than usual, which I didn't like very much. Until now, I'd been almost invisible, and I wanted to keep it that way.
Entering his office was terrible. Dante thinks he's the most important and invincible person in the universe. How infuriating! At least he gave me the rest of the day off. I hope the retaliation won't be worse later.
I went to the locker room to change. I have a fever. I'll take advantage of the time off and rest. The feeling of his touch on my face lingered, and I liked it.
I was arriving at his office when his brother stopped me.
"Sami, wait. How are you? I hope my brother wasn't rude to you" he said, and I smiled.
Mr. Fernando was kind and polite. He had left with Julie and given me a ride to the place where I usually got my transportation. I liked seeing him being polite to her. It was great. So, if he's nice to my friends, he's nice to me, and he's my friend too, not to mention his father. I love that dear, kind man. He's always treated me so well, unlike his nurse who seems fake. I have a feeling she mistreats him, but I can't say anything; it might just be my imagination.
"No, surprisingly he was very polite. He even gave me the rest of the day off and offered to drive me home." I said and saw the lawyer arrive. She was a stunning woman, and she entered immediately. Seeing the door close behind her was a sign they were going to do something wrong in there. I was preparing to leave when the door opened again, and I thought, "That was quick."
I had the impression they were talking about me. I continued alongside Fernando, and she gave him a quick peck on the cheek before leaving. He sighed and closed the door behind him, then came towards us, and we left the building.
We went to the car in the garage, and Mr. Dante asked:
"Where should I drop you off?"
"You don't have to take me. I'll get an Uber or walk a little" I said, but he opened the car door without giving me a chance to back down. What an arrogant man! He doesn't know how to take no for an answer.
"You don't know how to take no for an answer, do you?" I snapped, furious at not having a voice anywhere, and his brother laughed at the situation. I don't know what he found so funny.
He slammed the door and got in on his side, then his brother asked:
"Sami, tell us where to go. My brother won't leave you alone until you do."
"You can drop me off at the hotel across from the bus station. I have a room paid for there today, and tomorrow, I'll go to Julie's. She's already found me a room" I said, and he agreed.
"That place is dangerous" Dante said, and I couldn't help but retort.
"Excuse me, Mr. Moneybags, I don't have as much money as you" I realized I had said something stupid when Fernando laughed, so I quickly added:
"Oh, sorry. It's the fever talking. I just want to lie down" I mumbled and curled up.
Dante...
I left the sassy woman at the hotel entrance. The place was teeming with drug addicts. I approached the soldier in the car behind me and said:
"I want you to keep an eye on door number 9, and don't let anyone approach or harm her."
He nodded, and I left with my brother.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"To settle an outstanding debt Samira has with this Arnaldo character. The guy's a rapist. Rumor has it he's involved with Banin Harum, that imbecile who throws parties auctioning off virginities and young girls. I'm going to wipe that out" I replied angrily.
We arrived at the club in the rural area, close to where Samira lived. Her family was from around here. I went in with my brother, and everyone already knew who I was.
"Don? What do you want here?" he sneered.
"I came to settle the debt you have outstanding with my employee. This money isn't exactly clean, but I'm settling it. I expect you to leave her alone" I said, tossing a wad of cash at him.
"My business is with her family, not with the mafia. I have plans for that bitch, and I don't want your money" The guy didn't want the money; he wanted her. He probably already had someone interested in a night with her, but I would kill, exterminate anyone who dared.
"The business will be directly with my family. Understand me, and leave her alone. I'll allow you to live today, but don't forget my warning. Your auctions are living on borrowed time. Damn rapists like you need to be exterminated" I said and left. I wouldn't start a war there. I was outnumbered, but I could easily finish him off. There's a right time for everything.
We left and headed towards our company. Then my brother spoke:
"Picking a fight with the gang over Sami? What did I miss?"
I didn't answer because I didn't understand the reason myself. Since yesterday in the elevator, the woman hasn't left my mind.
