Episode 13

I go straight into the bedroom, dry off and put some clothes on. When I return to the living room, I see Mr. Renan with the children on the sofa.

Julia: I'm back.

Bia holds out her hands and I take them.

Renan: Are you all right, Julia?

Julia: Mr. Renan, I told you not to worry, I'm scared and since I don't know how to swim, I gave you a fright.

Gabriel: Sit down, let's watch.

Julia: Okay, I'll take it.

I sit next to them and we watch.

Renan: Fine, but I have to go now.

Gabriel: But today is Saturday.

Renan: I know, son, but I've arranged some meetings this afternoon and I'll be back for dinner.

It goes up and minutes later it comes back down.

Renan: Anything, just call Julia.

Julia: Good meeting.

He leaves.

Gabriel: The movie's over.

Julia: How about we go for lunch now and after lunch we use those paints we saw in your room? We could do some painting.

Gabriel: I don't know how to do that.

Julia: The truth is that art isn't about knowing, it's about expressing yourself! We can convey our feelings through it without worrying about judgment, just appreciation.

Gabriel: I think I understand...

I laugh and we go into the kitchen for lunch.

...Renan......

I left the house and went straight to the meeting. After the meeting I had already arranged to meet Emily, I was ashamed of letting her go the day before and I wanted to apologize.

I arrived at her studio, which was closed for lunch. I apologized and gave her some sunflowers.

Renan: You know, I couldn't imagine that she couldn't swim, after all, she's almost twenty, who can't swim at that age?

Emily: Well, Julia doesn't know, and I don't think she's the only one.

Renan: I'm glad she's really nice, she doesn't take things to heart and she understood that I didn't mean to hurt her.

Emily: Um...

Renan: Yesterday we were watching the comedy show, you know? I ended up venting a bit, not directly, but I just wanted to get out what I was feeling... Julia somehow calmed me down... I don't know, she has a different way of dealing with life.

Emily: Um...

I notice that Emily has stopped interacting and I look at her.

Renan: Hey, are you okay?

Emily: I'm fine, even though we've been talking for almost an hour and all you do is talk about the nanny... or rather, Julia.

Renan: What do you mean, Emily?

Emily: I don't know Renan, you tell me.

Renan: I don't have anything to say, my relationship with Julia is extremely professional, you're seeing things where there aren't any.

Emily: All right, Renan, maybe I am... but do you think bringing sunflowers and talking to me about another woman is going to make me forget what you did to me yesterday? You just blew me off for a phone call that could have waited.

Renan: I've apologized, it was really wrong of me, but I don't even know if I could go through with it with the anger I was feeling.

Emily: Give me a break, you were so into it when I was.

I get up and walk over to her, but she stops me from talking.

Emily: You have to go, my break's over, I have to open the store...

Renan: Can we meet later? We'll try to sort it out.

Emily: Not today Renan, I'm going to be very late.

Renan: All right.

I grab my briefcase, leave the studio and head for the car.

Renan: That's all I needed, jealous of Julia...

I drive home and when I get there I go straight to the shower, I don't see anyone, and the truth is I don't even want to, I hate being treated the way Emily treated me, she almost threw me out.

...Julia......

The children and I have a lot of fun during the painting afternoon. Then I give them a bath and the two of them take their afternoon nap.

I'll tidy up the upstairs as I do every day after putting the children to bed and once I've finished everything I'll go to the last room, which is Mr. Renan's bedroom.

I go in and start dusting the furniture, then I make the bed and wash the bathroom. I walk in singing as usual and find Mr. Renan soaping himself up in front of me. I drop the mop on the floor and scream.

Julia: My goodness!

I step back and don't remember anything else.

...Renan......

I'm in the shower, reflecting on everything, and out of nowhere, Julia enters and sees me naked! The woman screams and then falls flat on the floor as if she had seen an alien.

Renan: Oh my god!

Still soapy, I wrap a towel around my waist and carry her to my bed, go to the mini-fridge, and grab an ice pack.

Julia: Ouch, ouch...

Renan: Calm down, it's okay.

Julia: Mr. Renan... my god, where am I?

Renan: You're in my room.

Julia: So it wasn't a nightmare?

She asks me with wide eyes.

I shake my head in denial.

💭Julia: This isn't happening, it's not!

Renan: But don't worry about it, we're adults, there's nothing in me that you haven't seen before.

I throw that out trying to break the tension, but it doesn't seem to have helped.
