CHAPTER 3: A new acquaintance

"Oh, shut up Nina, stop teasing me! I don't even know him!" I said grumpily and looked out the window.

That's when I saw a group of people cornering a young boy.

"Stop the carriage! I need to make a stop here" I got down, and Nina was confused about why I stopped in a shady.

"Hey! What's happing here boys?" I spoke. Nina was worried but I trained enough to fight even the top-ranked because I was always targeted by assassins just because I was going to be the crown princess.

"Oi! Little missy. You better go play with your little dolls. Don't interfere in a man's matter." said a man in that gang. He had a big scar across his face.

"Are you the leader? If you are telling me the amount." I spoke. I looked over at the boy he was beaten up to his pulp.

"Well, well, looks like the missy knows about money." I took out the 10 gold coins in my pocket and threw them on his disgraceful face.

"Take it and leave!" I shouted I asked Nina to help the boy up. When they got the money one of his men was about to charge at me.

"My lady lookout!" said Nina running to protect me.

I looked over to Nina and signaled her to stay where she was, and then I lifted my long skirt, as the person got near, I targeted the unarmed spot and an easy target and I swung my legs straight in between the man's legs. He fell and started whining in pain. I remembered Brother Author's training that if I couldn't do anything I had to use a secret kick.

Nina was dumbstruck and even the little boy. The other guys didn't dare come near me but instead glared at me took their injured friend and ran.

"That should teach them a lesson," I said to myself dusting my hands.

"Yay! Our lady is a born martial artist and she can defend a mere servant like me. Oh! How blessed am I to have the lady and my master!" said Nina.

It always embarrassed me when she did that, it was like she was advertising me and raising my standards so people get close to me.

"Nina can you please stop and let's go home and take the boy; we need to treat his wounds. He is severely injured."

We arrived back at my palace and asked Nina and some other maids to help the boy clean himself and treat his wounds.

"My lady, our guest is ready and is requesting your audience." Said Maria, another maid who came new to my palace.

I went to the guest room to see a boy with wavey red hair and ivory green eyes with his soft white skin. His beauty wasn't shown much when he was bashed up like that.

"Ummm... thank you for helping me, Lady Amora Erwin. I am Robert Watson from the baroness family." He said timidly. This reminded me of myself in my previous life where I used to be a puppet for people. I must help this kid so he won't regret his life decisions like me.

"Let me ask you, young lord Robert. Why were you thrashed up by those people? Did you do something wrong?"

"Oh! No, I have done nothing wrong it is just my family is running into debt too my father was a big gambler after my mother ran away and he never took care of me because he saw me as a nuisance in his life that he had to throw away. That's why they sold me to go work as a slave in nobles' houses. I kept hiding and escaping but my fate was always a misfortune."

"Now there, there! You don't need to say it is a misfortune. You escaped from there and now my lady took you in so it is not all misfortune." Said Nina.

"So, what's your age," I asked

"I am 14 years old this year," he said. What was a young boy doing in a dump, I shall take him in and teach him the etiquettes.

"Are you ready to work for me as my assistant?" I asked since I didn't have trustworthy assistants, I had to use his help.

In my previous life, he was taken in the Count Verlice estate and there he became a loyal person to his benefactor he also started to find children like him who were sold out. He brought them to safety and kept them under his care he was then praised by the people for his good will and loyalty.

"So, what do you think about my offer? If you can't decide, I will give you time to think about it and if you don't want to work for me, I will leave you free because it is your will not mine and I will never oppose you."

"No, I will work for you! And can start it right away. You can trust me," he said.

I was glad that he agreed to it and I know we will work together perfectly. I made him sign a contract and brought him teachers so that he could take care of the household.

After a few months passed smoothly, I trained myself with the sword so that I could defend myself from the assassins who would come at my brother's coming-of-age. Robert has been doing well in his classes and now he is taking up swordsmanship.
