Chapter 9(part 2)

Though the recollections of my time there is pretty good but that one fact about how I was glamoured into staying there for a ‘lifetime’ is creepy.

Suddenly I felt some stares.

Curious eyes examined us up and down.

Not good at all.

Even though the music was still flowing but the surroundings felt abandoned quite.

“Oh, so you’re talking about Lady Cynthia! Truly my Lady Cynthia is so elegant! My cousin works in the palace so she told me quite a lot about her!”

I tried to sort thing out my voice specially loud.

Lily and Elis had a utterly confused look on their faces.

I eyed Lily, ‘play along! You’re the one who created this mess!’

She understood what I was trying to say but she still squinted her eyes, ‘You were the cause of it.’

‘…’

“Fine! It was my fault too”, she whispered.

“Yeah! I know right! I have heard so much about the siblings.”

She also tried to be loud.

The peering gazes softened a little.

Seems like my trick worked.

If someone had so much as doubted our identity here then I would be in some real trouble. Aunt had strictly prohibited me to show myself in public like this.

Though most of the peering gazes calmed down but some still didn’t give up. Of course there will be some who would be interested in anything related to the ‘lady’ because as I have said before, officially, I don’t come out very often.

“Let’s go.” I whispered and pulled Elex by my side. We pulled up our hoods and treaded.

Lily held Elis’ hand while our feet blend into other’s.

After a while we reached a bustling alley.

“Phew… a close one.”

“We’re quite a distance now.” Lily said, her hood slipping down her golden tresses.

“It’s fine now. Let’s enjoy a bit more.”

As soon as the words fell, Elex sprinted to a nearby weaponry stall. The blades held a trace of magic. It’s like a shining thread embedded in it.

The forger seems to have some talent for magic in refining.

My hands reached out for a particular pair of dusty metal daggers. I picked one.

They seem like a pair weapon.

Unconsciously my fingers began to caress the hilt, then the scabbard, feeling and observing the delicate balance of forgery and sturdiness. The outer surface was covered in oxidised blackness and dust but the thing in itself felt like it would make a good companion.

“It’s disgusting.”

A voice sounded near my ear. My feet jumped up in more shock than fright, my hand reaching for the scabbard of the dagger while I turned around. I steadied my breath as the dagger stopped at his neck glistening under the lantern revealing a proud mocking smirk. Only then did I calmed down sliding my hand back from a small sparkling red slit.

“You want to die that badly?”

I said giving him a glare.

“I know I won’t die. Not today at least.” He stepped forward, inching those hazel eyes from mine.

“And surely not from your hands.”

“Oh? Why such confidence?”

“I don’t know. I just had a feeling.”

I raised my eye brow. I could feel the intense stare of the 3 people around, especially that death glare directed at Lucas.

Seems like he also sensed it. He took his steps back and glanced at the blade in my hand, “As I thought, your sense of style is really poor.”

He turned to me again while giving a blindingly polite smile, “As always.”

“Ahem!”

We both turned towards the initiator of the cough. Lily.

“She eyes me, “Are you not going to introduce, ROSE!?”

She turned to face him.

“Who might this gentleman be?”

Her gaze shifted to me while I could just feel the immense pressure.

Lucas also turned to me as the corner of his lips raised into an innocent grin.

“Ha-ha-ha.” I slipped an awkward laugh.

Damn it. Why am I laughing at a moment like this. How am I suppose to introduce them. My brain went blank as my nails dug down deeper in my palm.

Lily can’t possibly know I met him in the enchanted forest. And she most definitely can’t know I was there. While Lucas can’t know how I know Lily. Because I can’t reveal my identity.

Ugh… such a mess.

What to do!!!

Suddenly someone tugged at my pants. It was Elex. Then all of a sudden a though flashed through my mind.

“He’s Lucas. I met him… one day a few years ago. Since then we’ve been…friends”, I said to Lily.

Then I turned to him, “this is…lady Cynthia.
