The sky turned peach as the ginger clouds blanketed the sun partially. The lights and lanterns glistened in rainbows. The music rang soft in my ears while my eyes followed the drifting figures. They giggle and chatted and shied away, then spun. Some joined in on the fun, some pulled others in while some just encouraged and enjoyed from the side lines.

I was one of them.

My hands held the bag of snacks that I just bought while the sweet and savoury smell tingled my nose. Lily, Elex and Elis went to join the communal performance. The local players and performers gather together at this crossroad and play to their heart’s content. Anybody could join the group, be it for one song or the whole day. The people dance and enjoy while the musicians experiment and showcase their talent.

Elis and Elex danced together for a while but then it was time for a partner switch. The song ended, they clasped their hands and bowed with the other then went on to the next person.

It’s one of Enchandel’s main uniqueness contributing to it’s popularity. Usually kingdoms don’t allow people to cause such commotion but here it’s even encouraged by uncle. Guards and knights are stationed in the alleys and roads nearby to stop any mishap.

My heart warmed at the sight. I watched as Elis flushed at the sight of her new partner. It was a young boy probably around the same age as her. The music began and the two drifted away chatting and giggling. On the other side Lily picked up Elex and spun him in the air. They seem to be enjoying themselves.

Well, All is well if they are enjoying themselves. It’s been so long since we last visited this place and had fun together.

A girl stopped midway and came sprinting towards me. She pulled a boy in who was standing next to me. At first he resisted a little but gradually gave up at the expecting eyes and the glamour of the music. Both shared a bit of likeness. Maybe they’re brother and sister.

After a while the song ended and more people went in. Some stayed while some emptied the spots for others. Lily and Elex walked towards me.

“Sis! You’re here! Why didn’t you join us? It was so much fun!” Elex came hopping and hugged me.

“Cause I was busy getting some treats for you. Here.” I revealed the bag of snacks from behind and brought it closer to him.

“Really? Yes! Snacks!” He pulled apart.

Elex tried to snag the bag but I retreated my hands. I gestured for one and he puffed up.

“You don’t want it?”

“I do!” He sighed then grabbed a sugar figurine.

Looks like he gave up. Heh.

“Me too!”

The three of us looked in the direction just to find Elis rushing over.

She was breathing heavy but still managed to lay hold of a round pastry.

“Huff! Huff! I Huff! I got it!”

“Okay-Okay, Calm down. No body’s taking your treat away!”

“Yum~~”

Hah… What do I do with them?

I looked at the little girl chewing a mouthful with a satisfied expression.

Sigh… Even though she is much mature now this little thing still likes to act as a child once in a while. Well it’s not bad.

My gaze shifted to Lily who was also observing the two. I searched through bag and finally took out a knotted pastry dripping with hardened chocolate and shoved it towards her mouth.

She looked surprised at first but then I gestured her to just eat it and she did.

“Eu ememerd? (You remembered?)” she spoke with her stuffed mouth.

“Eat first. And yes I did.” How could I forget what you all like? After all these memories were the only thing that kept me sane through out all those years. If not for them I would have long forgotten myself.

Come to think of it there were definitely some savouries I would have liked them to try from that place… No! No! Don’t think such things Cynthia. They can never go to that place. They should never go there. No, they should not even know about it.

“Rose? Rose! Cynthia!”

“H-Huh! Eh?” I felt a vigorous shake to myself.

“What happened? What is going on?” Lily yelled in worry.

“N-Nothing. Why?”

“WHY? I should be asking that! What were you thinking? You’re sweating and panting out of nowhere?”

“Me? I’m no—!” I brought my hand forward after rubbing it against my wet forehead. The beads of sweat smudged against my skin.

I was sweating profusely! Then I noticed my breathless chest.

‘ Huff Huff hu…’, it really brought back a lot of memories. Not great to be exact. But I never imagined they instilled a feeling such as this inside me.

Not good.

I felt some curious eyes staring at us.

Not good at all.
