Enrico was a brilliant bastard. He had hidden his daughter in plain sight, without us realizing the real reason, but upon meeting Carmen in person, it became obvious to me.
She was the most beautiful girl in the entire mafia, and he didn't want to force her into marriage. That's why he kept her captive.
If any imbecile bastard laid eyes on Carmen, he would raise the question of marriage, because she was the complete package.
Beautiful, hot, rich, and from an influential and important family.
I observed her from a more secluded corner. She was talking to Elisa about something that made her eyes sparkle, as if the subject was truly engaging.
There was a part of me that couldn't stop staring at her full lips, imagining how my dick would feel between them.
I didn't feel so irritated about having a leash around my neck anymore. Carmen was beautiful, kind, and innocent, good company after an exhausting day at work.
"It seems like you approve of your bride."
I heard Nery's voice. I acted indifferently, without taking my eyes off Carmen.
"Enrico is much smarter than we thought. Who would have guessed he was hiding a daughter like that from all of us?" I retorted.
Nery stopped on my right, his eyes flew to the same direction as mine.
"Actually, Gilliam is the smartest," he said, immediately getting my attention.
"He knew there was something wrong with Enrico's daughter, he just didn't know what exactly it was, just like he knew that he would be the most trustworthy man to close the marriage deal. That's why he chose Carmen as his bride."
"And what if it was something else?" I hissed, incredulous.
"It wouldn't be possible. Enrico raised too many suspicions and immediately refused the marriage agreement, which only made Gilliam hammer down on her being the bride right then and there."
I looked at the girl again.
She was slender, the white corset hugged her small breasts and accentuated her flat abdomen and thin waist. Her long legs were on display beneath the skirt, and when she walked, I could see her pert ass. All delicate, but with a diffuse personality, which made me curious about her.
"Anyway, I liked this deal," I confessed.
There was something about Carmen that hadn't gone unnoticed by me. Sometimes, her eyes took on a determination, a glint that diverged from the innocent girl she let show. Either way, my hope was that she would demonstrate that in bed.
I had a habit of becoming obsessed with some things, and Carmen had become one of them.
"Did you tell her about the tattoo?" he asked, changing the subject.
"Yes, and I will even take her to get it done."
The engagement dinner was the first act of the marriage. Afterward, she would get the same tattoo as me, and then we could get married. The preparations were being finalized for the event to take place as soon as possible, and after today, we expected some retaliation from Balbino. That's why it was important for Carmen to carry my mark and be under my protection.
"Did Enrico interrogate Tito?" I questioned in a whisper.
I was eager to participate in the interrogation, but I was vehemently forbidden by Gilliam. I was the groom, one of the main members of the occasion, I couldn't walk away and alert our guests about the shit that had happened moments before. And besides, Carmen still belonged to Enrico, so the blood of the wretched invader was his to claim.
"Tito is being crushed to be buried in some ditch somewhere," Nery replied, so low I had to strain to hear him.
"Did he say anything relevant?"
My brother gave a smile that bordered on pure amusement.
"Leone is somewhere in our vast New York, my brother.
Enjoy."
I cocked my head to the side, my eyes darting towards Carmen. Soon, she would be mine to care for and protect. I would need to follow our values, like a good husband, and keep her safe. If Leone was still in our territory, he would be killed and there wouldn't be much left of the bastard if he got as close to Carmen as his friend had managed to do.
"She's a good girl, Dominique. I believe you two will have a good marriage," he commented, changing the subject and dispersing my mind from all the... not-so-noble things I would do to Leone if I were to get my hands on him.
I laughed.
"And you?"
He furrowed his brows.
"What about me?"
"Well... I'm getting married, Gilliam is married... only you are left, my dear brother. You can't keep fucking the masked girl for the rest of your life. At some point you'll have to decide whether to let her go or bring her into our lives for good."
Nery snorted and drained the amber liquid from his glass in a few gulps.
"This is about you, not me," he retorted, clearly uncomfortable with the subject.
"I bought some expensive drinks for your bachelor party."
He winked, walking away.
I returned my attention to Carmen. There was something about the girl that attracted me with such intensity that it left me a little shaken, and I couldn't wait to find out what it was.
