Chapter 17

The next morning...

Petra woke up late because she went to bed so late last night, she and Bryan ended up watching some movies and went to sleep at dawn. She quickly got up, tangled herself in the sheets and headed to the bathroom where she was going to shower.

Mrs. Smith, her new teacher, was due to arrive at seven-thirty in the morning. Professor Octavio ended up resigning, he said it was for personal reasons, so Petra wasn't taking classes because she didn't have a teacher. Now, Bryan has hired a teacher for her, and she is very excited to go back to school.

After getting ready, Petra went down for coffee, she asked the maid where Bryan was, she said that he received a call from his father and left early in the morning, and asked to let Petra know that he had gone to the company.

She nodded and sipped her coffee calmly as she waited for her teacher to arrive. After a few minutes, Mrs. Smith arrived and the class began.

The morning passed quickly, after class, Petra went to water her plants and take the bunny and puppy for a walk. Pompom was afraid of Thunder and ran into the flowers, Petra smiled and took him back, holding him in her arm. Thunder ran through the garden like a madman, he circled Petra and Pompom chose himself with fear.

From afar, Bryan watched and smiled at the scene. He couldn't stand just watching anymore, he called Thunder, who, upon hearing the owner's voice, started running towards him.

— You are early. — says Petra, approaching with pompom in her arms.

— I'm taking you out to lunch. — he says, taking Petra by surprise.

— Serious? Will I be able to leave? — she asks excitedly.

— Yes. — he says. — Come on, go wear a nice outfit, I'll be waiting for you in the living room.

She smiles excitedly and runs into the house with the pompom still in her arms.

— I'm ready. — says Petra from the top of the stairs.

Petra was dressed in a pink dress, square neck, with a jacquard floral bow tie. On her feet, she wore white sneakers.

— Is perfect. — says Bryan mesmerized.

— Thanks. — says Petra, smiling shyly.

— Thunder in the garden, did you leave the pompom in the cage? — Bryan asks and Petra nodded. — So, let's go.

So they went to the front of the big mansion, where Joseph was already waiting for them. Joseph helped Bryan to sit in the back seat, next to Petra, she put the seat belt on Bryan, despite his protests, but he ended up enjoying her care for him.

Then they left for the restaurant.

Petra walked to Bryan's right side, holding his hand, she looked at everything attentively, that restaurant was very chic, everything was upscale.

People looked at them, while they walked to one of the tables in the place. Petra moved one of the chairs so that Bryan could fit his chair to the table, then sat down beside her.

— Why is everyone staring at us? — Petra asks Bryan.

— They're just curious, I'm quite influential in the city, this is one of my first public appearances after the accident. — Bryan says.

— Oh! — Petra says, moving her fingers shyly, all those looks were bothering her. Suddenly, she feels Bryan's hand on hers.

— Do not be shy. — he says, giving her hand a light squeeze. — pretend no one is looking at us, there is only the two of us.

— Okay, I'll try. — Petra gives a slight smile and looks ahead to where a waitress approaches.

— Here is the menu. — she says, handing it to both of them.

Bryan takes a quick look at the menu and looks at the waitress.

— I'll have Pot Roast — says Bryan.

— And your daughter? — asks the woman looking at Petra.

Petra smiles awkwardly as she looks at Bryan, he frowns and looks at the woman.

— She's not my daughter, she's my wife. — Bryan says.

— Excuse me, what do you want? — Asks the waitress a little scared.

— The same as my husband asked for. — says Petra, the woman writes everything down and I leave.

Petra looks at Bryan, who was staring at her.

— Sorry. — she says.

— What is she apologizing for? — he asks.

— Because she thinks I'm her daughter, if I didn't walk around looking like a kid, you wouldn't have to go through this. — says Petra sheepishly.

— No need to apologize for that. — he says. — Petra, that's your style, you feel good about it. I don't want you to walk around in clothes to please me, when you will be uncomfortable with it.

— But — Petra begins, but Bryan cuts her off.

— Let's not talk about this anymore. — he says.

Petra just nodded, holding Bryan's hand that was on the table, he holds her hand back and takes it to her lips, where he kisses her.

They are silent as they wait for their meals, which doesn't take long to arrive. Soon they began to eat in silence, not uncomfortable, on the contrary, the silence between them was very cozy. They exchanged glances and smiled at each other.

On the way home, they passed in front of the mall, Petra looked at that huge building with shining eyes.

— Do you want to go shopping? — Bryan asks when he sees Petra's gaze on the place.

— I want to, but I'm tired. — she says. — maybe on another occasion I'll come.

Bryan nodded in agreement and asked Joseph to stop in front of a beautiful flower shop, Petra looked out and was delighted with the place. Bryan said something to Joseph, however, Petra didn't hear because she was admiring the beautiful flowers in the shop.

Soon Joseph returned with a beautiful bouquet of roses and handed it to Bryan, Petra looked at him, curious, and asked who the flowers were for.

— For you. — he says, handing her the roses.

Petra broke into a beautiful smile as she held the bouquet in her arms.

— They're wonderful, thank you. — she says, smelling the flowers. — I've never received flowers before.

— If it's up to me, whenever I can, I'll give you flowers. — he says, holding her hand.

Petra smiled shyly and squeezed his hand back.

Something special was coming up, and they couldn't deny that that feeling was much more than a simple attraction.
