Chapter 8

Petra stayed there for hours at the hospital, she was having a super animated conversation with her husband, now not so unknown. They chatted and each spoke a little about themselves.

Bryan said several things, he told Petra that he had a dog called Trovão, he also said that he liked to play the piano, but due to the rush of his work, he didn't play often anymore. So they were talking and getting to know each other, the time will barely passed.

— I'm on my way now, it's getting late. — says Petra, getting up.

— Okay, will the driver pick you up? — he asks.

— Yes, I'll send a message for Joseph to come. — says Petra, picking up her cell phone and quickly sending a message to Joseph, who instantly responds, saying he was already on his way. — Okay, he's on his way to pick me up.

— Will you come tomorrow? — he asks.

— Do you want me to come? — she asks.

— I want. — he says, Petra can't help but smile.

— Then I come. — she says.

He smiled.

Petra bent down and placed a kiss on Bryan's cheek, who blushed at her, she smiled before turning her back and walking over to her bag, picking it up and slinging it over her shoulder.

She looked at Bryan who was still staring at her, she smiled internally and left the room. Petra walked down the hall and upon reaching reception, she bumped into the physiotherapist who was touching her husband so intimately. Suddenly, that feeling of anger surfaced, and Petra simply started walking towards the woman, who soon noticed her presence and turned to Petra.

— Listen, I didn't like the way you were touching my husband at all. — says Petra.

— I was just doing my job. — says the woman.

— Your job is just to help him exercise, and you were doing so much more than that. I saw you touching his belly, running your hand over his hip, almost touching your… — Petra trails off and feels her face burn. — Anyway, the next time you touch my husband like that, I'll rip your hands off.

—Are you threatening me? — Ask the woman.

— No, just giving you a warning. — so Petra parades out of the hospital, where Joseph is already waiting for her.

When they got in the car and left, Petra started to think about what she did, was she really jealous? She never threatened anyone, but within seconds she was doing it, her blood was boiling, and she just acted without thinking. It was impulse.

She comes out of her thoughts when her cell phone rings, it was her father. She rolls her eyes and answers.

— What do you want? — she asks directly.

— Is that any way to talk to your father? — he asks, faking sadness in his voice.

— I'm just giving you the same treatment you gave me. — says Petra. — and that's not even the beginning. Now say what you want, I'm out of time.

Petra hears her father's laugh on the other end of the line and frowns.

— You've barely left the house, and you're already putting your wings out? — he says mockingly.

— I'm going to hang up… — Petra says later and interrupted.

— Don't hang up. — Anton says. — I just want to know how Bryan is doing.

— Calls him and asks. — says Petra impatiently.

— He does not want to talk to me. — Anton says with irritation in his voice.

— Look what a coincidence, neither did I. — says Petra, hanging up the phone.

Petra doesn't like to act like that, but she has to learn to hit back, she's already been beaten a lot in life, she was humiliated by both her father and her sister, now she couldn't stand it anymore, no one will ever demean her.

So they went to Petra's house, when they got there, she went up to her room and took off those clothes, she didn't want to wear those clothes and act like a person she wasn't, so she walked to her suitcase and got any of your favorite dresses.

The little dress was flowery yellow with spaghetti straps, and was glued to the waist and breasts, leaving the bottom unattended, Petra's hair was loose, so she just took two locks of her hair in front and took them to the back, trapping with a white ribbon and ending with a bow. On her feet, she put on white sneakers, also put on a bracelet and a necklace.

Petra took a book that she really wanted to read, Pride and Prejudice, finally, she took her cell phone and headphones, sighing she left the room, she wanted to read her book in the calm of the garden, under a tree.

But, upon arriving in the living room, Petra finds her mother-in-law, who looks her up and down.

— What is this outfit? — Rebekah asks.

— Normal clothes, don't you see. — says Petra dismissively.

— I don't want my daughter-in-law walking around in these cheap clothes, she needs to look chic, elegant. — says Rebekah indignantly. — you need to live up to the family.

— Your problem. — says Petra. — it was you who wanted this marriage, now bear with it.

Petra was already leaving, but she looked back at her mother-in-law.

— Get used to it, that's my style, and I'm not going to change it because you don't like it. — says Petra as she puts on her headphones and heads out towards the garden.

Petra walked through her front yard, Pride and Prejudice firmly in her hand. She loved reading classics and seeing how the stories portrayed society at different times. As she walked, her headset played the song "Style". She loved the feeling of being outdoors, of smelling the roses as she made her way through the maze of flowers. Meanwhile, she was listening to Taylor Swift on her headphones, softly humming some of her favorite songs.

Petra allowed herself to lose herself in the melodies, admiring the flowers and breathing in the fresh air, without worrying about everyday problems. She felt exhilarated and free and happy, as if there was nothing to fear.

As she walked along one of the garden paths, Petra stopped in front of a bed of colorful flowers, the ones she had planted herself. She tilted her head to smell the scent and admired the vibrant colors as she read Jane Austen's poetry.

That combination of entertainment, nature and music made it even more special. Petra knew that she could have enjoyed relaxing in the garden for hours, with her favorite reading and music, but she also knew that she should go back inside.

Petra took a deep breath, looking at the house as she walked towards it, and thought about her life from now on. Soon Bryan would be home, and she was nervous about how her life would turn out.

So, she knew that garden full of flowers would be the place where she would go when she wanted peace, she knew that allowing herself those moments of calm and peace were essential for her daily life.
