As soon as she stepped out of the office building's automatic doors, Ailen saw Finnick standing by his car. He seemed to be talking to someone on the phone as he moved his mouth. When he saw her, he waved at her.

Ailen didn't want to disturb him and walked up to him. When she finally stood in front of him, she didn't make a sound. After a minute, Finnick finally hung up the call.

"Sorry, some employees forgot to submit their documents for tomorrow's meeting," Finnick said. The company's quick handling of its business hasn't stopped because Maximiliano decided to take a long break from work. But it only allowed him to be worried most of the time, as he's the big boss's right-hand man.

Finnick was already used to the intensity of his job and his boss's demands, but that was before he met someone he wanted to be close to.

In the past, he had casual relationships with women who had shown interest in him. He didn't mind agreeing to go out with them because he thought that working and going out with someone wouldn't make a big difference in his life. Besides, his mother's request for him to introduce her to his girlfriend had bothered him a lot.

In the end, none of those girls he had dated before would last long enough to meet his mother. They had the same complaints about him after breaking up with him. They were all fed up with such a boring and monotonous relationship. It made them feel unloved.

Finnick did his best to change, but it seems that his change wasn't enough, as they still complain about having less time to be together than to work. He could understand their reasons and feelings. But he simply couldn't identify with or empathize with them.
