Three months later...
Time seemed to have flown by, and Olivia was certain she would never see her nephew again. Despite pursuing legal action and making yet another unsuccessful appeal, all her attempts had failed.
As for her job, she was still chasing after a good one, but for now, she couldn't afford to be picky. In the past few weeks, she had tried everything from being a hot dog lady, where she wore a funny hot dog costume to hand out flyers on the street.
Today would be no different. Olivia arrived early at the diner and put on the costume for yet another unusual morning of work, but she couldn't deny that she was having a lot of fun with it all.
Olivia - Oh my God, I look incredibly ridiculous!
She said to herself as she looked at her reflection in the bathroom mirror of the diner.
Olivia - Let's do this!
She put on a pair of sunglasses and walked out of the bathroom, causing the staff to burst into laughter.
Guy - The most stylish hot dog I've ever seen!
Olivia smiled at the comment and looked over her sunglasses.
- Remember\, my friend\, it's not the job that's bad\, it's the employee who doesn't like to work!
Everyone smiled.
Olivia - And I'm an adult, I have my expenses!
At that moment, a very chubby and well-dressed man entered the diner.
Man - Let's go, young ones, time to work!
He clapped his hands together and went to the back.
Olivia - Let's go, D.Jota, you have to cover me out there!
D.Jota - I can't believe I'm still embarrassing myself with you, Olivia!
Olivia - Orders from your boss, let's go!
She grabbed a stack of flyers and held onto his arm, pulling him outside the establishment. Today, the street was bustling with cars, especially because it was Friday.
Olivia wholeheartedly embraced her character with joy and enthusiasm. The children in the cars found the hot dog lady entertaining as she not only handed out flyers but also danced.
D.Jota - She's really good at this!
The guy commented as he leaned against a car, holding more flyers advertising the diner. After a few more hours of work, Olivia changed her clothes hurriedly and left. She quickly caught a bus and headed to the orphanage, as it had been months since she last stepped foot there due to the incident with the director, Ruth.
When she arrived at the door, she was stopped by the doorman, an old acquaintance who occasionally helped her by providing information.
Olivia - Hi, Mr. Phill, I came as fast as I could!
Doorman - She left early this morning, only the girls are inside!
Olivia - Don't worry, I'll be cautious!
Doorman - Please, young lady, don't get me in trouble with Miss Ruth. If she finds out I'm helping you, she'll kick me out.
Olivia - She won't, because I'll be cautious!
The man turned off the cameras and nodded for Olivia to enter through the back.
Doorman - It's clear! Remember, be quick!
She handed him her backpack and quickly entered the back, being cautious. She walked through a long corridor lined with potted plants and silently entered the kitchen. She looked around and continued on her way.
It didn't take long for her to be in front of Ruth's office. She cautiously turned the doorknob and quickly entered, closing the door behind her.
Olivia - Oh my God! This has to work!
She sighed deeply, went around the desk, sat in the chair, and opened the computer, accessing the documentation of the children in alphabetical order. Olivia knew she had to be quick in this illegal action, otherwise, if caught, she would go to prison and it would be the end of it all. No judge would grant her custody of a child.
Olivia - Come on, come on... Where are you, Liam... Found you! Liam Grace!
Suddenly, she heard someone approaching.
Olivia - Damn it, no time!
She grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and quickly wrote something down. The doorknob turned and Olivia slid her body under the desk. The cleaning lady came in with a bucket and a mop.
Olivia - No, no...
She closes her eyes and starts praying to heaven not to be found. The cleaning lady starts singing a Latin song in Spanish while mopping the floor with a perfumed-scented cloth.
Olivia opens her eyes and shrinks her legs further under the table, looks to the side and gazes at the face coming towards her and brushing against her arm, she adjusts herself even more to the small space, already fearing being seen.
Phill - Hey, girl!
Saved by the doorman, Olivia smiles and closes her eyes in gratitude.
Lady - Any problem, Mr. Phill?
Phill - A dog relieved itself on the entrance sidewalk, come quickly to clean up that mess, if Mrs. Ruth sees it, she'll be furious, you know how she is about cleanliness!
Lady - Oh no, Mr. Phill, don't even mention it!
She grabs the bucket and mop and leaves the room towards the exit. Olivia comes out from under the table, coming face to face with her savior.
Olivia - Thank you, Mr. Phill, I owe you one!
Phill - Let's go, let's go quickly, before she realizes there's nothing on the sidewalk and gets suspicious.
Olivia - Alright, alright, I'm on my way!
The man takes the girl's backpack from behind the column and hands it to her.
Phill - Go!
Olivia - Thank you!
She puts the backpack on her back and runs towards the exit, holding the paper with the name and address of Liam's guardian in her hands.
Upon arriving home, she throws the backpack on the living room floor and jumps on the sofa, lying on her back. She stretches her arms and examines the paper with the information she obtained.
Olivia - Aron Maclean...
Olivia enters the address into her cell phone's GPS to get a better understanding of the location, realizing it was a wealthy neighborhood in Florida, and quite far from where she lived.
A little fear enveloped her at that moment, as it was possible that Liam had been adopted by well-off people, and fighting against such individuals was practically impossible. Just the thought that those with money could easily have the world at their feet, she becomes disheartened.
