After arriving home, Olivia took a headache medicine and literally passed out. When she woke up, it was already past 9:00 pm. The sound of the dripping faucet in the bucket sharpened her hearing three times more vividly.
Olivia - I can't take this anymore!
She closes her eyes again and turns to the other side of the bed, staring at the blank white wall. Her life was definitely directionless, the feeling she had was that she was in a boat in the middle of the sea, the more she rowed, the farther she got from solid ground.
The sound of the dripping faucet was bothering her so much that Olivia had to grab a pillow and put it over her face, tossing and turning in bed and sitting up abruptly, throwing the pillow away.
Olivia - Shit! How am I going to pay the rent now?
She puts her hands on her head and starts crying in despair.
Olivia - I'll never get custody of my nephew without a job, never! If it was difficult before, now everything is screwed.
Still bothered by the dripping, Olivia gets up and looks at the pot overflowing with water, wetting the floor.
Olivia - Oh, no!
Defeated, she sighs, grabs the heavy pot, and takes it to the bathroom, pouring all the dirty water down the sink drain, then returns it to its original place.
Since she hadn't eaten anything all day, Olivia quickly prepares a sandwich and eats it with cold milk. Meanwhile, she reads through the adoption paperwork for Liam again.
She knew that being unemployed had set her back ten steps, back to square one. What she had to do was wake up early tomorrow and look for a job before the social worker finds out and makes things even more difficult.
Sitting on the couch, she turns her face to the side, with a visual view of the picture frame displayed on the end table. There was a photo of her and her sister sipping piña coladas at the beach, both smiling happily, and Olivia finds herself fondly remembering that day.
Her sister did everything for her, sacrificing the best years of her life to work and take care of the boring adult stuff, giving love, care, and attention. In the end, Olivia owed Ember that.
Olivia - Why did you hide the pregnancy from me?
She picks up the picture frame.
Olivia - Besides being sisters, we were best friends, you shouldn't have hidden it from me.
Suddenly, Olivia finds herself thinking about the father of the child, who remains a great mystery.
Olivia - Did he know he was going to be a father? Who could it be?
The doubt was eating at her, but Olivia couldn't focus on that mystery at the moment. Her life was a bottomless pit, and she had to get out of it. Determined to start over, she started searching for job vacancies on the internet and sent her resume by email.
With her heavy eyes, Olivia ended up falling asleep on the couch with the laptop on top of her belly, which turned out to be a terrible idea as the device slipped and fell to the floor when she turned around. Startled by the noise, she woke up, looked at the floor, and quickly picked up the laptop with her heart pounding in her chest.
Olivia - No, no, no!
Unfortunately, the device wouldn't turn on, and Olivia's streak of bad luck only highlighted that everything in her life was going wrong.
Olivia - Maybe Ruth is right, how will I take care of a child like this, how?
She wondered, not having any answers. Stressed, Olivia wanted to dance, as dancing was her hobby and it literally made her feel lighter, taking some weight off her shoulders.
Even though it was late, the gym she frequented stayed open until midnight. Olivia jumped off the couch and ran to her room, putting on black leggings and a matching t-shirt, slipping on her sneakers, and tying her hair in a ponytail.
When she left her apartment to catch the elevator, she smiled widely because it was no longer under maintenance. She entered and pressed the button for the ground floor.
The elevator descended, making a noise of metal clanging against each other that seemed like it could stop at any moment. When it reached the ground floor, Olivia didn't see anyone, not even the night doorman. She left the building and walked down the sidewalks with her head down.
Throughout the entire journey, she couldn't help but think about the harassment she had experienced earlier that day. She was very grateful to the owner of the flower shop for giving her an opportunity, and she was quite sad about leaving without explaining.
Olivia - Probably her lousy husband will make up stories and say that I did something wrong. I didn't want her to think badly of me.
Olivia lamented.
Olivia - Why does everything in my life go wrong?
Finally, she arrived at the gym. Upon entering, there were about four people working out on the machines.
Olivia - Good evening!
Receptionist - Good evening, Olivia! You're here late tonight.
Olivia - Actually, I wasn't even going to come, but I have to make the most of it since it's my last month.
She soon realized that she wouldn't have enough money to pay for the next month.
Olivia - Oh no, I forgot my card.
Receptionist - No problem, I'll let you in.
Olivia - Thank you, you're an angel!
Both of them smiled. Olivia went up the stairs and entered the dance studio with mirrored walls. The room was a bit dark since no one was using it at that moment, so she turned on the lights and took off her shoes, leaving them in the corner, only wearing socks.
Olivia connected her phone to the speaker and started playing a song. 🎵 Def Leppard - Armageddon. Soon, the first high-pitched sound of the guitar began to fill the room.
Olivia was the kind of dancer who didn't follow choreography; she danced with her soul, creating her moves on the spot, making each step harmonious and special to those who had the privilege of watching her in action. Even though it was just a hobby, she took her moments of connection with dance seriously.
She could dance to any song and manage to convey the essence of the music with incredible lightness. The receptionist approached with the other gym-goers and watched from a distance; it was beautiful to see.
Olivia only realized she had an audience when she finished her last spin in the air. She looked to the side and received a warm round of applause. Her cheeks immediately turned as red as a ripe tomato.
