Episode 8

My father rose from his armchair and walked around the room, lost in thought.

"I already knew that Agnec had rejected her, but I had hoped he would change his mind. I always found Agnec's behavior towards Aurora to be strange, but to reject her, why?" He was intrigued and curious, but at least he calmed down.

Ingus stood up.

"I think I can explain that part." We all looked at him, expectantly. "My brother was very close with my father, but my father was prejudiced against wolves and vampires. He believed that the race of the new Faoladhs and vampires, being humans transformed as punishment for their wickedness, didn't deserve to live, let alone mate with us and produce disgusting hybrids, as he called them." He took a deep breath.

"It seems like you didn't agree with him," I commented.

"No. It so happened that my father, on a business trip to Scotland, met my mother and they instantly recognized each other as mates. They joined together and went to live in the castle, my mother became pregnant, and my brother and I were born. My father was suspicious of me from the moment I was born. As I grew up, my brother became his favorite because he behaved like a true sorcerer, but I liked to imitate wolves and snarl at everything. My father would get upset and punish me, but my mother would protect and spoil me. As soon as I was old enough to understand, she explained the situation to me and told me that my father didn't know. She was a hybrid of a witch and Faoladhs, and apparently, I inherited her wolf side."

"So your father married a wolf without knowing it. She must have used some potion to hide her scent and he didn't notice... And how did your father find out?" My father asked.

"When I transformed for the first time, at thirteen. He was furious and questioned my mother, who had to tell him the truth. Without mercy, he killed her right in front of us, as if it were a warning for the future. Agnec inherited the pure race from my father, he is just a sorcerer, but I was born a complete hybrid of witch, sorcerer, and werewolf, which at the time were called new Faoladhs."

We all remained silent, trying to process the surreal story.

"But how did your father fare? What did he do to you?" I asked.

"My father gradually went insane. He kept me locked in my room most of the time. He learned that the number of wolves and vampires was growing and out of fear, he divided our island, keeping only one end where the castle is, and gave the other to witches, sorcerers, and wizards. He prohibited the entry of anyone he considered impure and his enemies. It didn't take long for him to die. I continued living in the castle with my brother until the war broke out and Agnec took the opportunity to trap me in a cave beneath the castle. On one side, I was trapped by the Supreme's magic, which sealed the Kingdom, and on the other, by Agnec's magic. Until you arrived and broke the magic blockade, enabling me to break through Agnec's barrier and escape."

"That's an incredible story," my father said. "So, it's safe to say that you are a Supreme?"

To confirm, Ingus released his dominance and except for Aurora, we all knelt and offered our necks as a sign of obedience.

When he stopped, it was sudden. We stood up amazed by such power, as all of us are powerful and dominant, yet we submitted to him.

Finally, Aurora spoke up. Rising from her seat, she looked at Ingus, then turned to my father and asked, "Father, is it true? Can he be my mate?"

"Mine! You are mine, I have no doubt," the Supreme confirmed, growing eager.

"Okay, wolf, you're right. She is yours, and she has our blessing," my father consented, somewhat reluctantly, but in agreement with my mother.

Finally, Afonso arrived, announcing dinner. We all went, but Ingus embraced Aurora with a desperate hug and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. I turned and continued toward the dining room, giving them privacy. She deserves to be happy. We sat down, and my father didn't miss the opportunity to demand a report on the situation in the Kingdom.

"But now, tell us Pedro, how did you discover the Lost Kingdom? We all thought it was a legend," my father asked, still grumpy.

"I read some crude scrolls, lost in the Agnec Library, written in a very ancient and incomplete language. They spoke of the Kingdom. It said there were inhabitants, imprisoned in that place, but it didn't say where. Agnec never read or commented on where they came from and I found nothing else on the subject. I was so curious that I promised myself I would research until I found any hint of its location," I paused the narrative to drink water and continued, "Our library is as old as the scrolls I read, so it was the first place I thought to look."

"So, that's what you were doing in the library all the time?" my mother asked.

"Yes. As soon as I returned, I felt something calling me to the library. At first, I searched naturally, then I used magic and my paternal great-great-grandmother's diaries, which came to me and revealed what was missing from the scrolls I read in the castle," I concluded my part of the narrative, the rest would be done by Aurora.

Everyone was staring at me and then turned their eyes to Aurora and Ingus, who entered the room embracing each other.

"The third diary came to me, with instructions on how to cast a spell to recover the land," Aurora added.

"Are you a wolf/witch?" Ingus asked.

"I am the Supreme wolf/witch/fairy," Aurora replied.

"The gods have given me the best of all companions!" he hugged her even tighter and smelled her neck.

A hurricane rushed into the room.

"A family meeting and you forgot about me?" Jeneffer pouted, she has the same temperament as our father, but she is a beautiful little fairy.

"My little pepper, I'm sorry, it wasn't planned. Meet Ingus, Aurora's partner," I introduced him, to change her focus.

"This is our youngest sister, Jeneffer, Ingus," I introduced her to him.

Her entrance cleared the air a little, but we still had to continue the explanations and we still have a lot of work ahead. Centuries of restoration and history to unravel. The Kingdom is in misery and the sooner we know everything that happened, the better.
