Hello Roommate

The three literally grew up together for almost all their life. Jiang Yanli adored and pampered Wei Wuxian, calling him A Xian. Wei Wuxian called her shijie, because Jiang Yanli resembled one of his favourite xianxia drama heroine who was everyone's beloved shijie. Now, Baoshan decided to open a branch of her private academy in Japan. Since Yanling was taking over Qishan, there was nobody but Cangse who could help manage the academy. Wei Wuxian refused to part from the Jiang siblings, so Wei Changze quit his job as Jiang Fengmian's assistant, and Wei Wuxian was dumped to the Jiang family when Cangse and her husband moved to Japan for the next three years.

He didn't mind. At least now he would have friends. At the Wei residence he was all alone. Chatting with his cousin Wen Qing usually ended with him getting scolded for things he had not done (okay, he only fell from the tree once and she had to lecture him every time as soon he came close to one). With Wen Ning... He had to go through Wen Qing first before he could drag him out to have fun.

Jiang Cheng nagged but he usually followed him anyway - which was why Wei Wuxian preferred hanging out with the Jiang siblings.

The only downside of staying with the Jiang would be Madam Yu, Wei Wuxian thought as he got inside the car with Jiang Cheng. Jiang Yanli sat at the passenger side next to her mother. "A Xian, A Cheng, have you got everything ready?"

"Yes, shijie!" Wei Wuxian chirped cheerfully.

"We already went through out luggage together yesterday, A Jie," Jiang Cheng said.

Yanli chuckled. "Just making sure."

"Stop pampering these two, A Li. They're no longer kids, they ought to start becoming independent," Madam Yu said. "What's the point of sending them to Gusu Academy?"

"Still can't understand why we have to go to Gusu Academy," Wei Wuxian muttered.

Yu Ziyuan glared at him through the mirror. "Your father specifically registered you, and asked me to send you to Gusu Academy. Where else do you expect to go, Sanren Academy or Wen Institute, where you'll be receiving special treatment? About time you learn to have humility."

Wei Wuxian shut up. There was no winning in an argument against Madam Yu.

They arrived at Gusu Academy in the nick of time. Jin Zixuan, the current student council president gave the opening speech. Jiang Cheng silently watched his sister, the student council vice president standing at his side. Wei Wuxian was already yawning. He began drooling midway through Principal Qiren's speech.

The opening ceremony ended and all students went to collect their school necessities and room keys. To Wei Wuxian's disappointment and Jiang Cheng's delight, they were assigned in different rooms. Wei Wuxian reluctantly carried his luggage and school bag to room 512 while Jiang Cheng went to 417.

The room was nice and big, moderately furnished with two single beds, two lockers, and two connected study desks in between the two beds. There was a bathroom in each bedroom so Wei Wuxian would not need to worry about the horror of communal toilets. He quickly unpacked his items - just shoving most of his clothes into the locker, piling up the textbooks and threw his half-unpacked luggage onto the bed.
