Episode five

ASHTON’S POV

I woke up very early the next morning to see that Tate was on his bed asleep, I waited for him all night to no avail, he must have came home really late. Well he still has a lot of explaining to do. I took a warm bath and got dressed, I had to go to the small spring at the back of the school building to take a small rest and enjoy the cool breeze as well as the view. Just thinking about it got me excited and I immediately took my back bag and walk out of the room.

I walked steadily towards the small spring at the back of the school building it was morning but the sun isn’t fully up and classes wouldn’t start until later. So I had enough time to chill out here. On arriving there I heard a very beautiful voice singing I walked closer until I could see the back side of a red hair lady she was also playing a guitar as she sang. Her voice was so beautiful that I didn’t want to interrupt her so I just stood there quietly and listened.

We were young. We were happy. We were close, we were best of friends.

But then how did we turn out to be like this. You said you loved me.

You said you would protect me. You said you would never leave my side

Yet it turns out it was just a dame lie. You not only left me on my own

You took everything away from me. My happiness, my joy and my will to live

But I know my world doesn’t end there it doesn’t revolve around you

So I’m telling you now that I’ll forget everything we ever had cause it’s all over

She finished and I couldn’t help but to clap my hands she was really good. I expected her to turn towards me immediately but she quickly put up her hood. My eye brow furrowed in confusion as my thought went to a certain someone called alia who wears a hoodie, is she hiding her face on purpose. After fully pulling up her hood she look up at me in surprise “hi again alia” I greeted cheerfully as I went towards the spring and sat near the water keeping a big distance between the two of us as I place my bag gently beside me.

“Who the **** are you?” she asked and I could hear a hint of annoyance in her voice. This girl is truly weird she forgets things easily.

“Um_ I’m Ashton Cullen we have met twice actually”

“You’re the guy from the party aren’t you?” she asked and for some reason I felt happy that she remembered.

“Yes that’s me” I answered happily with a huge grin on my face.

She was silent for sometime then she asked suspiciously “are you following me?”

My eyes widen in shock. Why would I do that? “no I wasn’t” I answered “I just happen to be here at the same time with you so don’t kid yourself” I replied in a half joking manner but no respond came we were both silent for sometime neither of us saying a word and it was really awkward for me so I decided to break the silence “you have a really nice voice” I said with a small smile. I waited for her response but none came. Why was she being so rude and grumpy all the time I’ve never seen a girl so serious especially around a handsome guy like me, but I wasn’t going to give up “um_ do you have friends?” I asked her I was very curious to know what kind of friends a person like her would have.

She looked at me through her hood “I didn’t come here to talk to you but to have some peace and quiet so I would like you to leave me alone” she snap and I was surprised can’t she be a little civil with me I was being nice to her.

“Hey why are you being like this at least be nice__”

“You know what asshole” she interrupted angrily and stood up “I’m leaving. You just ruined my moment” she slung her guitar over her shoulder and walked away

“Hey!” I called after her “it’s Ashton actually!” but she kept walking maybe she didn’t hear me. Despite myself I smiled she’s really an interesting girl and I’m so going to enjoy winning her over as my friend I love a good challenge.

When the sun was fully out I stood up and headed to the school building, I had guitar classes and I was pretty late. As I rushed into the building in a hurry to get to class early I bump into Alex “hey careful man” he said a little annoyed.

“Sorry bro but I have to go I’m pretty late for my guitar class” I made to rush forward but he held me back

“I was on my way to go look for you so you should at least walk with me” I sighed but gave in and as we walked he asked me questions about last night party and I told him everything including what happened between Tate, his girlfriend and Sammy “did you ask him about it?” Alex asked worried in genuine concern.

“Well after that little fight he left the party and I didn’t see him again”

“We should talk to him ash he must be really going through a tough time”

“yeah I plan on talking to him today at lunch” I answered just as I spotted Sammy coming from the opposite direction with an unfamiliar looking girl who looks like a nerd with her huge glasses and baggy clothes they were talking and laughing but I noticed how shyly the nerd girl was behaving. “Hi Sammy” we greeted when she was finally very close to us.

She looked up at us and smiled “hi Ashton and Alex” she replied as she came right in front of us, her friend standing close behind her “it’s nice to see you both again”

Well at least she remembers our names unlike a certain someone “same here Sammy” I replied unsure of if I should ask her about what happened last night at the party.

“And this is my friend and roommate viviana adresini” she introduced the girl beside her.

“Nice to meet you viviana I’m Ashton Cullen” we shook hands

“And I’m Alexander Weston nice to meet you” he shook her hands and I was surprise he wasn’t trying to flirt it seems like girls like viviana isn’t his type.

“We’ll talk later guys as it is we are running late” Sammy said quickly as she dragged vivi along

“What are you looking at?” I asked Alex as he continue to stare after them

“Nothing” he answered a little too quickly.

I stare after them to see if there was anything there “are you looking at viviana”

“NO! Why would I be looking at her, She’s not my type” he said and quickly walked away leaving me behind I only laughed internally because the first time ever Alex was blushing because of a girl.

I sat close to the beside a black haired girl during the guitar class the girl just couldn’t leave me alone as she kept on bringing up meaningless conversation and clinging to my body I would have ripped her hands off in annoyance if I wasn’t such a gentle man. I could tell that the blond girl beside me on the other roll has noticed my torture as she stare at us in amusement. The girl didn’t stop as she kept on asking me if I had a girlfriend. I was about to answer when the blond girl beside me said “hey leave the guy alone bitch he has been barely listening because of you”

I looked towards her surprised that she decided to help “well he isn’t complaining so shut the **** up” the black hair girl replied harshly.

The blond girl said nothing as she looked at me “would you like to change your sit? The sit beside me is empty” she said it in such a friendly manner and I was sure she isn’t like this other girl. I nodded my head and stood up but the other girl held me back

“Please don’t go handsome she’s only being jealous” she tried convincing me in a seductive voice

“Um I’ll rather sit with her” I said calmly. I walked towards the sit leaving the girl shock and confuse. The blond girl smirk at her in victory while she just huff and faced the teacher. There was silence between us for sometime then I decided to speak “thanks”

“What for?” she asked sounding truly surprise

“You actually saved me back there miss; she was being such a pest”

“It’s no problem just think of it as a friendly action” she replied and I smiled she was really nice

“Well thanks”

“You’re welcome” she replied

“By the way I’m Ashton Cullen” I out stretch my hand

“Jade watterlyes” she replied taking my out stretch hand.

“It’s nice to meet you I’m sure we are going to be great friends”

“Yeah I guess not everyone in this class are freaks everyone I met here are either sluts, bitches or perverts it’s nice to meet someone different”

“Same here really” I replied and we fell silent listening to the teacher when suddenly the door bust open interrupting him. Someone walked in wearing a hoodie and a guitar slung over her shoulder. My heart swelled with excitement it was alia we have a class together

“And who might you be?” Mr. Daniel asked her in an annoyed tone

“I’m alia Rhodes sir, I lost my way and that’s why I’m late” she doesn’t sound apologetic at all

Mr. Daniel choose to ignore her as he said “it’s alright go take a sit” she looked around and her eyes landed on the sit beside the girl I just stood up from. She walked towards it and sat down silently and the teacher went on with his lessons. My eyes didn’t leave her as I kept on glancing at her. I notice that jade was also glancing at her so I got curious and I asked “do you know her?”

“What?” she asked back a little startled

“Alia Rhodes; do you know her?”

“Yeah she’s my roommate” she replied and I felt my eyes widen in shock and excitement that means that alia is close to my reach. Now It would be more easy to solve the puzzle “she’s weird you know. She’s a mystery I just can’t seem to point out”

I looked at jade surprised, which means I’m not the only one who feels that way “so you feel it to” I stated and she looked at me with a raised eyebrow

“Feel what?”

“That alia is a puzzle” I answered and she looks at me suspiciously

“You seem to know her” she said and I smiled although I have no idea why

“Yes I met her last night at the welcoming party. She was very rude to me”

I notice as jade relax a little I was curious but I kept quiet “she’s rude to everyone that’s for sure” jade said and we laughed silently. I guess I found myself a good friend.

After classes I said goodbye to jade, who was quick to leave the class saying she had something to do and also refusing my offer to join me and my friends for lunch. I looked towards the sit alia took earlier and smiled I’ll have to bribe that girl so I can sit with alia in our next class, as for alia she left the class immediately the bell rang for lunch.

I was walking down the hall towards the cafeteria when I spotted alia leaning on the wall even among the many students walking down the hall I could still recognize her in her usual hoodie. I walked towards her with a smile. For some reason I can’t help feeling happy whenever I’m with alia “hey alia” I greeted

She sighed loudly “oh God not you again” she complained and my smile widen she really remembered me this time.

“I’m glad you remember me”

“Yeah I recognize your annoying voice and not your face nor your name”

Dame this girl for making me feels so giddy around her. “I’m Ashton Cullen. You know I’ve introduced myself to you many times but you still don’t get it or would you like me to put it down in writing?”

“Are you trying to insult me?” she asked in an offended tone.

My eyes widen in alarm, she took it seriously “hey it’s a joke okay don’t get offended please” She didn’t reply as she walk away. I sighed and went after her “hey alia it’s just a joke” I tried to explain but she walked faster away from me and I increased my pace “alright alia I’m sorry” I caught up with her and held her wrist turning her towards me “alia I’m sorry okay, I shouldn’t have said that”

She pulled her wrist away from my hold “just leave me alone” she said and walked away but stopped half way and turn to me “and don’t follow me” she walked out of the school building not even looking back once. I sighed feeling utterly disappointed in myself for offending her like that now I’m sure she won’t even look at me nor talk to me at least she responded to some of the things I say to her before and now I just blew it all up

“Hey Ash” I heard Alex voice behind me. I turn around to see him walking towards me with Tate by his side.

“Hey guys” I greeted weakly

They both eyed me curiously “Ash is something wrong?” Tate asked

“No I’m fine let’s just go” I walked ahead of them and I could tell that they were not satisfied by my answer but I choose to ignore them. All I want to do now is to ask for Alia’s forgiveness.

The three of us sat down at a table eating lunch we were talking and laughing and Alex was cracking jokes and telling us about a girl he flirted with at his dance who gave in really fast and now she just can’t seem to leave him alone I laughed and warned him about his girlfriend who doesn’t attend the school and he brush me off saying it’s just a friendly flirting. We fell silent for some time when Alex said “I bump into viviana on my way here, I have to say she’s really nice”

I smiled knowingly Alex is getting interested in someone. My mind went to Alia and I suddenly went into a shitty mood “who’s viviana?” Tate asked pulling me out of my thought.

“You haven’t met her yet she’s Sammy’s roommate and friend” Alex said popping a huge bit of salad into his mouth, he’s a vegetarian.

“Oh I see” Tate replied and my mind drifted to the event that took place between Sammy and Tate’s girlfriend Lana, but before I could speak he asked “Ash are you okay? You haven’t been speaking much”

“I’m fine Tate instead I should be asking you that” he gave me a confused look and I continued “you haven’t really explained what happened back at the party”

He scratches the back of his head nervously “well the thing is, Sammy has been my best friend since childhood and well Lana and I have been dating since high school at first Sammy and Lana were nice to each other until sometime later Lana accused me of being in love with Sam she claims I look at Sam in a way I never looked at her and that was how things changed Lana starts picking on Sam and Sam in turn fought back and that was how they became sworn enemies”

“Have you ever considered if Lana’s accusations are true?” I asked him

He hesitated for sometime before saying “of course her accusations were false I see Sammy only as a friend and I love Lana she’s my girlfriend”

“Are you sure about that?” Alex asked “the way you looked at Sammy last night said otherwise”

Tate was very confused now ‘in what way did I look at Sammy? I don’t understand.”

“You look at her with so much love in your eyes it’s very obvious” I explained and he held a thoughtful look for some time. That proves my point already.

“But I can’t be in love with Sammy I admit I like her a lot but as a friend” he defended himself.

“Keep believing that Tate” Alex said laughing and at the same time giving Tate a friendly slap on the back

“Tate listen” I began with a serious tone “you and only you know what you feel for Sammy so I only advice you to act fast before someone takes Sammy away from you” he only continue to stare at me in a daze and confused state he said nothing more to me nor Alex until Sammy came to join us at our table along with viviana and a new girl who Sammy introduce to us as Hannah Hunter a new friend she made in her first class and as predicted Tate couldn’t get his eyes off Sammy. I just wish they would stop torturing each other, and as for Alex he has been looking at viviana and smiling like a maniac, I guess I’ll be the only single one soon. I looked up from my lunch and I caught sight of Hannah winking at me, I swallowed and looked back down. What is wrong with girls today?

“Hey Ash didn’t you make any new friends?” Sammy asked and I looked up at her

“Yeah I made one her name is jade watterlyes” I answered

“You see I told you even ash can’t resist hitting on a girl” Alex said and I was confused they seem to have been talking about something before asking me that question

“Wait did you say jade watterlyes” Sammy asked

“Yeah she is a friend I made today in guitar class. Do you know her?” I asked

“Yeah she is my roommate” Sammy answered and I could feel my heart pounding in shock and excitement. If jade and Sammy are roommate then alia must be Sammy’s roommate as well b_ but I shouldn’t jump into conclusion I must make sure I’m right

“Um__ Sammy do you also have a roommate called alia Rhodes”

Sammy and viviana stared at me wide eyed in shock “y__ you know her?” Sammy asked

“Yeah I met her at the party last night.” Why do they seem so scared?

“You better stay away from her”

“Why?” I asked genuinely curious

“That girl scares the shit out of me with her hoodie and all. Even the way she talks scare me, I made it a mental note never to cross her part” Sammy answered

“She is not a bully right vivi’’ I asked wanting to hear her own opinion of alia.

She looks startled that I directed the question to her she probably wasn’t expecting it but she answered anyway “um_ sh_ she isn’t a_ a bully but sh_ she scares me too” she answered and I sighed I was so happy for nothing, none of them are friends with her. That just made things all the more harder.

“Who’s this alia anyway? Is she some kind of scary witch?” Alex asked and laughed at his own joke but no one responded. All I could think of was a way to apologize to alia and she would listen and not just walk away. Damn if only it was easy.
