Chapter 14 - Gentle And Rough
Casper Knightly
Do you want to go into town with me this afternoon?
Into town? While eating breakfast, Casper spoke out of the blue.
Raine Blake
You mean leave the manor?
Casper Knightly
Don't you want to? There's a fair in the centre of town, which is pretty popular. Would you like to check it out?
Never before had I been to a fair before. I could barely afford food and my tuition fees.
Raine Blake
I... yes, I'd like that.
Casper Knightly
Good. Be ready in an hour, we shall leave then.
Raine Blake
Hold on, I thought that Laurie was-
With his frown, I quickly shut my mouth and continued to eat.
After an hour, I walked down the stairs, ready to go.
Seeing me, Casper smiled and put out his hand, waiting for me to place mine in. But I refused and walked past him, gripping hold of my purse, trying to suppress the urge to scream.
We left shortly after. From his room window, Yuri saw me get into the car and snarled, picking up a vase and throwing it across his room.
After a bit of driving, we stopped in front of a fair, just as promised.
Casper Knightly
Raine... do whatever you want. If you fail the first time, just try again until you get what you want.
I suddenly noticed that he was wearing casual clothes. Stylish, he looked as handsome as the day I first saw him.
Getting out of the car, I took a look at him and turned around, sprinting away. I need to escape here!
Just as I went to go down an alleyway, two men stepped forward. What... the heck?
Casper Knightly
I've got the area surrounded. You can't run anywhere, Raine.
I snarled and clenched my fists.
Raine Blake
So I'm still in a cage...
Casper Knightly
I'm sorry. I might be in control of this country but I can't have people trying to take you away from me again.
Casper Knightly
Please, have some fun! I want to see you smile, Raine.
Touching my cheek, his hands suddenly didn't seem so coarse and maybe felt gentle...
This is one day of semi-freedom. I guess that I might as well try it.
Raine Blake
I'm going to drown your wallet dry!
Casper Knightly
That doesn't make sense.
Raine Blake
That's an antithesis. Didn't you study English?
Casper Knightly
I did... but I forgot the insignificant things.
Raine Blake
Well, an antithesis is when you say two words in the same sentence that are opposites. Like drown and dry. Light and dark.
Casper Knightly
You know a lot about the English language.
Raine Blake
My dream is to become a writer but in my situation, it wasn't going to be likely.
Casper smiled. Slowly, I was opening up to him. I then shook my head and pointed towards a stall.
Raine Blake
I want to try that.
Casper Knightly
Of course.
I couldn't help my childish urges. It has been my dream to go to a fair every since my Mother brought me to one when I was small.
I might not enjoy myself as much but... at least I'll be able to be close to her again.
