Shadows of the Golden Court
Chapter 4: Whispers in the Walls
That night, the palace did not sleep.
The moonlight leaked through stained glass, casting fractured crowns across the floor.
Somewhere in the west wing, a lock clicked shut.
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
(whispers):
“They’re lying to me.”
Raven Silven
Role: Shadow Enchantress
(startled):
You shouldn’t be out this late. The halls aren’t safe.
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
Exactly why I’m out here.
I saw them—two voices in the council chamber, plotting in the dark.
Raven Silven
Role: Shadow Enchantress
What did you hear?
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
They want the throne.
They said… I wear a crown in every vision. And that makes me a threat.
Raven Silven
Role: Shadow Enchantress
(tense):
Then the game has begun sooner than expected.
In the shadows of the courtyard, a figure moved—quiet as breath.
Eyes like ice. Cloak like smoke.
???
(watching from above):
She’s remembering too quickly.
The flame will devour her before the crown ever touches her head.
Elira Frostvale
Role: Princess of the N
(appearing beside Raven):
You should leave the palace.
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
Why? Because someone’s afraid of what I’ll become?
Elira Frostvale
Role: Princess of the N
Because they’ve already sent someone to stop you.
A dagger gleamed in the light.
Thrown. Spinning.
But Seraphina caught it mid-air—without looking.
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
(low):
If they want me gone, they’ll have to try harder.
The floor beneath her feet cracked slightly.
Power pulsed upward.
Something inside her was no longer asleep.
Seraphina Vale (Main FL)
Role: Princess
(thoughts):
I don’t know what I am yet…
But I’m not afraid anymore.
???
(in the dark):
Then let the crowning begin.
