The Jeon estate was grand.

Too grand.

Too quiet.

Taehyung stood by the tall window, watching sunlight spill onto the marble floors like it didn’t care he was alone. He had been married for three weeks, yet it felt like he’d only been delivered—like an expensive gift left unopened.

Haejin, his alpha husband, hadn’t been home since the day after the wedding. Some overseas business. He hadn’t even kissed him goodbye.

The staff were polite, but distant. Everything about this house was curated, from the sterile white roses to the soft instrumental music that played during dinner. Even the food tasted rehearsed.

He wore lace most days. Ribbons. Silk slippers that never touched dirt. A beautiful omega bride with no one to touch him.

Sometimes he wandered to the master bedroom—their bedroom—and smoothed the untouched side of the bed. His side smelled faintly of lavender. The other was cold, flat, unbothered.

Sometimes he spoke aloud, just to hear his voice echo back.

“This isn’t what I thought being married would feel like,” *said to the empty hallway*

One afternoon, Taehyung passed by the grand staircase and stopped in front of a large portrait. It showed three men: Haejin, his older brother Jeon Hwan, and a striking, sharp-eyed alpha dressed in black.

The father.

He’d never met him. his father in law hadn’t attended the wedding, and no one explained why.

Taehyung couldn’t look away. There was something about the father’s eyes—something alive. Tense. Possessive.

It made him shift where he stood, his fingers curling around the edge of his robe.

And then he walked away. Quietly.

He wasn’t supposed to look too long.

He wasn’t supposed to want more than he was given.
