Chapter 5: He Said Yes
Monday morning arrived with blue skies and blooming sakura trees outside the school gates.
It should’ve felt like any other day.
But Taehyung knew it wasn’t — not when Jungkook practically sprinted into the classroom, eyes darting to the door every five seconds like a kid waiting for a birthday present.
Jeon Jungkook
Did he say anything yet?
Jungkook whispered the second Taehyung sat down beside him.
Tae replied, voice light, forced.
Kim Taehyung
Maybe he’s waiting to say it in person.
Jungkook bounced his knee under the desk, grinning.
Jeon Jungkook
God, I hope so.

My heart’s been beating all night.

Kim Taehyung
I already know how it ends.
He came in five minutes later — Jimin, fresh-faced and soft-smiled, with that calm grace that made everyone’s heads turn.
And when hus eyes met Jungkook’s, he blushed.
Taehyung’s throat closed up.
Jimin crossed the room and stood beside Jungkook’s desk, holding the folded letter in his hand.

I’d love to go out with you.
Later, during lunch, everyone was congratulating Jungkook. The class alpha. The new it-couple.

You really bagged him, huh?

Can’t believe he said yes!
Taehyung sat quietly beside them, poking at his lunch tray, not tasting a thing.

I told you Tae helped.
Jeon Jungkook
I couldn’t have done it without him.
Jimin smiled at Taehyung gently.
He forced himself to look up.
Kim Taehyung
You’re welcome.
And then he watched — watched as Jungkook leaned into his ear, whispered something that made him giggle, and touched his hand beneath the table like it meant nothing.
Like it didn’t just crush the last little hope Taehyung had been holding.
That night, Taehyung cried quietly in the servant quarters, curled on his cot, hand pressed to his mouth to muffle the sound.
He didn’t want to be bitter. He didn’t want to feel like this.
And when his mother came in and found him like that, she sat on the edge of the bed and brushed back his hair.

He doesn’t know.

He’s young. Blind.
Taehyung nodded through the tears.
Mrs. Kim (Taehyung’s Mother)
