The Love I Never Expected
Chapter - 4
The next few days moved like pages turning in a favorite book — familiar, but fast.
Daisy found herself surrounded by fabric swatches, soft lighting, and the quiet flurry of wedding preparations. It wasn’t loud or showy. There were no planners with clipboards or dramatic venue tours. Just two people building something of their own — piece by piece.
One afternoon, she stood in front of a mirror in a quiet boutique, wrapped in ivory silk. The dress wasn’t flashy — it was soft, flowing, with lace along the sleeves. Timeless. Like her.
Jungkook had insisted on not seeing the dress before the big day, but his mother came along. She sat on a small couch near the fitting room, watching Daisy with quiet pride.
Jeon Ella
“You look beautiful,” she said gently. “Jungkook won’t know what hit him.”
Daisy
Daisy laughed softly, turning to the side. “You think so?”
Jeon Ella
“I know so.” Then, after a pause, she added, “And if I haven’t said it clearly — I’m happy you’re joining this family.”
Daisy
Daisy stilled for a second. Then nodded, her throat tightening. “Thank you, Mom.”
At the same time, Jungkook was across town with his father — reviewing final venue details. It was a quieter day, the kind that didn’t need to be filled with words.
As they stepped out of the venue, the sky was dipped in pale gold. Evening had settled gently, like the pause before something beautiful begins.
Jeon Aiden
“You’ve grown a lot,” he said, walking slowly beside him. “Not just in business. As a man.”
Jungkook glanced over, the comment catching him off guard. His father wasn’t one for speeches, but when he spoke, it meant something.
Jeon Aiden
“You chose someone good,” he continued. “That reflects the kind of man you’ve become.”
Jeon Jungkook
Jungkook gave a quiet nod. “She makes things feel… right. Even on the hard days.”
Jeon Aiden
His expression softened, barely. “Your mother did the same for me.”
They walked in silence for a moment longer.
Jeon Aiden
Then, just before they reached the car, he added — almost casually, but not without meaning — “You can let her know… when she’s comfortable, she can call me Dad.”
Jungkook paused, absorbing that. No fanfare. No demand. Just an open door — steady and sincere.
That night, in the quiet of Daisy’s apartment, they sat curled up on the sofa, the soft hum of the city beyond the windows.
Jeon Jungkook
Jungkook brushed her hair back from her face. “My dad said something today.”
Daisy
She looked up at him. “Yeah?”
Jeon Jungkook
He hesitated for a second, then smiled. “He said… when you’re ready, you can call him Dad.”
Daisy blinked. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. She hadn’t expected that from Jeon Aiden— calm, composed, unreadable.
Daisy
A slow, touched smile formed on her lips. “Really?”
Jeon Jungkook
“Really,” Jungkook nodded. “That was his version of a warm welcome.”
Daisy
She let her head rest against his chest. “It means more than he probably knows.”
Outside, the city moved on.
Inside, another quiet piece of forever clicked into place — strong, subtle, unshakable.
