Episode 3: Group Chat, Chaos, and Confessions

Yoongi had one rule in life: Never join group chats.

They were loud, annoying, and full of people who sent memes at 2 a.m.

So, when he opened his phone and saw a new notification from a group called “Bangtan Clowns”, his first reaction was to delete it.

Jimin: Welcome our newest victim— I mean, member — Min Yoongi!

Taehyung: Yoongi hyunggggggg!!!

Jungkook: Oh no, he’s gonna leave in 3 minutes.

Hoseok: Bet he won’t even say hi.

Namjoon: Let’s keep it respectful— but also, Yoongi, you’re stuck with us now.

Seokjin: I made brownies. I’ll trade one for a selfie.

Yoongi blinked. “What the hell.”

A moment later, his phone buzzed again.

Jimin (private chat): Don’t be mad. I added you because I missed you.

Yoongi: I saw you two hours ago.

Jimin: Yeah, but you’re cute when you’re annoyed.

Yoongi groaned. This boy was going to give him a headache.

That night, Yoongi tried to focus on his music assignment, but the group chat was buzzing non-stop. He didn’t want to admit it, but some of the messages made him smile.

Taehyung: I just found out watermelons are berries.

Namjoon: That’s true. Strawberries aren’t berries, but bananas are.

Jungkook: What is life.

Seokjin: Life is me, looking amazing in this selfie.

Hoseok: I'm screaming. Why are you posing like it’s a proposal?

Jimin: Yoongi, rate Jin’s brownie out of 10.

Yoongi: 0.

Jimin: Rude.

Jin: Blocked and reported.

Taehyung: LMAO

Yoongi sighed but didn’t leave the chat.

Instead, he typed:

Yoongi: …Looks good, I guess.

Jimin sent him ten heart emojis.

The next day, Yoongi walked into the library to find Jimin waiting for him. He was sitting backwards on a chair like he was in a boy band music video.

“Morning, sunshine,” Jimin chirped.

“I regret replying in the group chat,” Yoongi muttered.

“No you don’t. You love us now.”

“I tolerate you.”

“Close enough.”

They sat down, books and laptops open, pretending to study. Jimin was supposed to write a paper on body movement in performance, but he was too busy making paper cranes out of his notebook pages.

Yoongi stared at him. “Do you have attention problems?”

“Only around people I like,” Jimin said.

Yoongi snorted. “Good to know you’re annoying by choice.”

Jimin leaned closer. “Did you just call me charming in your own grumpy way?”

“I’m gonna hit you with a book.”

“Flirting noted.”

Yoongi turned red and looked back at his screen.

Across campus, the others were planning something.

“Yoongi-hyung is slowly falling,” Taehyung said, holding his phone like a detective.

“Into a deep hole of regret,” Namjoon joked.

“No, really,” Jungkook added. “He’s been replying to Jimin-hyung more. I caught him smiling yesterday.”

“We should help them,” Hoseok said with a grin. “Make Yoongi admit he likes Jimin.”

“Operation ‘Soft Suga’ begins now,” Jin declared dramatically.

Taehyung nodded. “I’m in. Let’s start with chaos.”

That evening, Jimin invited Yoongi to a movie night at their dorm. “All of us will be there,” he said casually. “Just come. There’ll be snacks.”

Yoongi didn’t want to admit he liked snacks. Or that he was curious. Or that he might have planned his schedule so he’d be free that night.

When he arrived, he was greeted by a mess of pillows, popcorn, and screaming boys.

“HYUNG!!” Jungkook dragged him in like a lost puppy.

“Sit by me,” Jimin said, patting the space next to him.

Yoongi gave him a look. “Why do I feel like this is a trap?”

“Because it is,” Jin said with a wink.

“Shut up, Jin-hyung,” Jimin muttered.

The movie started, some ridiculous action film with lots of explosions. Yoongi tried to focus, but Jimin’s shoulder kept brushing his. And at one point, Jimin passed him popcorn with a soft “Here, hyung,” like he wasn’t the same boy who used to tease him daily.

Halfway through the movie, the power went out.

There was immediate chaos.

“JUNGKOOK DID YOU BREAK SOMETHING?”

“I DIDN’T EVEN MOVE!”

“MY POPCORN!!”

“TAE WHY ARE YOU HOLDING ME?”

“I’M SCARED OKAY?!”

In the dark, someone whispered, “Yoongi-hyung? Are you okay?”

It was Jimin. His voice was soft, close.

“I’m fine,” Yoongi whispered back.

“I like being next to you,” Jimin said, sounding more serious than usual.

Yoongi’s heart thumped.

“I mean,” Jimin added quickly, “It’s better than being next to Taehyung. He steals snacks.”

Yoongi let out a quiet laugh. “You’re ridiculous.”

“You still came,” Jimin said. “That means something.”

Yoongi didn’t reply. But his hand brushed Jimin’s. And he didn’t pull away.

Later that night, after the power returned and the others had started gaming, Yoongi stood outside on the balcony, looking at the sky.

Jimin joined him, two cups of hot chocolate in hand.

“Peace offering,” Jimin said, handing one over.

Yoongi accepted it. “For what?”

“For being annoying. And… maybe making you like me a little.”

Yoongi looked at him. “That’s a bold guess.”

Jimin shrugged. “I’m bold.”

There was a pause.

“I used to think you were boring,” Jimin said honestly. “Cold. But you’re not. You’re warm in a quiet way.”

Yoongi looked away. “Don’t say stuff like that.”

“Why not?”

“Because… it makes it hard to ignore you.”

Jimin smiled. “Maybe I don’t want to be ignored.”

Yoongi looked at him — really looked at him — and sighed. “You’re still a brat.”

Jimin bumped his shoulder. “But I’m your brat.”

Yoongi sipped his drink, trying not to smile.
