Chapter 4

Hikaru Tanaka sat in his room, fingers steepled in front of him. His first move had been a success, but he wasn’t satisfied. Light Yagami had used the Death Note brilliantly, but he had made a fatal mistake—he relied too much on its power. Hikaru would be more careful and won't repeat the same mistake but he wouldn’t just kill. He would manipulate, control, and twist the world into his own design.

"Ryuk," he said, breaking the silence.

The Shinigami looked up from his apple. "Yeah?"

"I need information. Deaths alone won’t be enough. If I want to control the world, I need to make people act the way I want… before they even realize they’re being manipulated."

Ryuk grinned. "Now this is interesting."

Hikaru opened his laptop and searched for recent crime reports. A name caught his eye—Hajime Kuroda, a corrupt businessman with ties to politicians and the underworld. He had been accused of bribery, extortion, and even covering up murders, but no solid evidence ever stuck.

Perfect.

Hikaru picked up his pen and began writing:

"Hajime Kuroda will receive an anonymous message exposing his crimes and will panic. He will attempt to destroy all evidence but will mistakenly email the files to the police before dying of a heart attack at 10:45 PM."

Hikaru smirked. Now, Kuroda wouldn’t just die—he would take himself down before doing so.

But this was just the beginning.

He opened a fake email account and drafted a message:

"I know everything. The documents you thought were hidden? They're already in the wrong hands. You have one hour to erase yourself from existence."

Then, he scheduled it to send at 10:30 PM—fifteen minutes before Kuroda’s death. Just enough time for panic to set in, but not enough for him to escape.

10:45 PM.

Hikaru refreshed his screen. News reports exploded—"Business Tycoon Dies of Sudden Heart Attack—Corruption Exposed!"

Police had received an email filled with classified documents, detailing years of illegal activity. His own records had sealed his fate.

Ryuk burst into laughter. "Ohhhh, that was good! You didn’t just kill him—you made him do the work for you!"

Hikaru leaned back, his expression calm. "A god forces the world to obey. A king makes the world follow willingly."

But he wasn’t done.

Two days later, newspapers and social media were still discussing Kuroda’s downfall. Hikaru knew the power of fear, but he also knew something even greater—suspicion.

He needed the world to believe that Kira had returned—but was different now.

He carefully selected his next targets—criminals, politicians, even celebrities involved in scandals. But instead of killing them immediately, he planted false leaks online.

People began whispering. A hacker group? A secret vigilante? The media debated. Was this Kira, or something new?

Hikaru smiled. The world wasn’t afraid.

The world was curious.

And that was far more dangerous.
