Outside Daniel’s dorm. The lights are dim, his window slightly open. Ava moves silently, peering inside.

Inside: Daniel and Emily. Too close. Emily giggles, running her fingers through his hair. He whispers something, making her laugh.

Ava watches, her face unreadable. Then, she calmly pulls out her phone and clicks a picture.

Ava Sinclair

💭 They really think I don’t know? How predictable.

The next morning. Campus café. Ava sits with Emily, stirring her coffee.

Emily (Ava's Bestie)

*Forcing a smile* You look tired. Everything okay?

Ava Sinclair

*Smiling* Just stressed about assignments.

Emily (Ava's Bestie)

*Laughing* Same. Oh! I forgot to tell you, Daniel and I were—uh, I mean…Daniel was up all night studying.

Ava tilts her head, watching the panic flash in Emily’s eyes.

Ava Sinclair

*Gently* You’re acting weird, Emily. Something wrong?

Emily (Ava's Bestie)

*Too quickly* No! Why would you say that?

Ava Sinclair

*Chuckling* Relax, I’m just messing with you.

Emily exhales in relief. Ava sips her coffee, hiding her amusement.
