Our Apocalyptic Love The Guilt That Lingers

Scene: Inside the Storage Locker – Early Morning

(Aiden sits with his back against the wall, staring at the door. Neither of them has spoken in hours.)

(Elias watches him but doesn’t say anything. He knows that look.)

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (softly) “What if they were really alive?”

(Elias exhales, rubbing his face.)

Elias Rivers

Elias: “We did what we had to.”

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (quietly) “No, You did.”

(Aiden pushes himself up and moves toward the door. Elias tenses.)

Elias Rivers

Elias: “What are you doing?”

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: “I need to see.”

(Elias blocks him, gripping his arm.)

Elias: “No, you don’t.”

(Aiden shakes him off, yanks the door open before Elias can stop him.)

(The hallway is eerily quiet. The smell of blood lingers.)

(Aiden’s stomach twists as he sees a body slumped against the opposite wall—a young man, his face pale, his chest still.)

(But do you want to know the worst part? No bite marks. Just a clean stab wound to the chest.)

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (whispers) “He was killed...Someone killed him, oh my god...”

(Elias steps beside him, tense.)

Elias Rivers

Elias: (low voice) “Not infected?”

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (shaken) “No.”

(Just then, the sudden sound of footsteps. Slow, deliberate. Coming closer.)

(Elias grabs Aiden, shoving him back inside. He shuts the door silently, heart pounding.)

(Through the thin metal door, they hear a voice.)

Unknown Voice: (murmuring) “Guess they didn’t let you in, huh?”

(A heavy sigh. Then—)

? ? ?

Unknown Voice: “Shame.”

(The footsteps fade. Whoever it was… they’re still out there.)

(Aiden and Elias sit in the dark, their world suddenly feeling a lot smaller.)

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (softly) “It wasn’t just them out there...”
