A knock In The Dark

Scene: Inside the Storage Locker – The Handle Turns

(Elias grips his bat, Aiden’s breath catches. The handle clicks—slow, deliberate. Then stops.)

(Silence.)

(Then—) Knock. Knock.

???

Unknown Voice: (hoarse) “Please… someone’s out here…”

(Aiden tenses, his fingers curling against his knee.)

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (whispers) “They’re alive.”

Elias Rivers

Elias: (low) “Or they want us to think that.”

(Another knock, weaker this time.)

???

Unknown Voice: (shaky) “Please… they’re coming back…”

(Aiden moves toward the door, but Elias grabs his wrist.)

Elias Rivers

Elias: “Think, Aiden. If it were you out there, you wouldn’t be knocking. You’d be running.”

(Aiden swallows hard. He knows Elias is right, but—)

(A sudden rustling outside. Then—)

(A scream.)

(A real, terrified scream—suddenly cut short by a sickening crunch.)

(Aiden and Elias both stiffen.)

(The thing outside isn’t knocking anymore.)

(They wait, barely breathing. The air is thick with something unspoken.)

Aiden Hayes

Aiden: (softly) “We could’ve helped them...”

Elias Rivers

Elias: (jaw tight) “And now we’re still alive.”

(A scraping noise at the door. Slow. Dragging. Then—nothing.)

(Aiden shuts his eyes. Elias grips the bat tighter. They don’t move until morning.)
