Scene: Storage Locker – A Few Hours After Escaping
(Elias and Aiden sit in near darkness, backs against cold metal. The storage locker is cramped, filled with old chairs, boxes, and unused dorm supplies.)
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (whispering) "How long are we gonna staying here for?"
Elias Rivers
Elias: (quietly) "Until it’s safe."
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (shaky laugh) "Right. Because that’s happening anytime soon."
(Aiden rubs his arms, trying to shake off the chill. Elias watches, frowning, before silently shrugging off his jacket and tossing it over Aiden.)
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (blinking) "You don’t have to—"
Elias Rivers
Elias: "Just take it." (leans his head back against the wall)
(Silence lingers between them, heavy and full of things left unsaid.)
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (softly) "I keep thinking about my parents."
Elias Rivers
Elias: (eyes flicker open) "Yeah?"
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (nods) "They always called me after exams. Even when I didn’t pick up, they’d leave these long-ass voicemails." (voice cracks) "Now my phone’s dead. And I’ll never know if they called."
(Elias shifts, uncomfortable but not at all dismissive, about the situation.)
Elias Rivers
Elias: "I didn’t even get to say goodbye to mine." (quietly) "Didn’t think it’d matter."
(Suddenly a loud bang echoes outside. causing both of them to freeze.)
(Footsteps. Slow. Heavy. Something is outside, searching.)
(Aiden grips Elias’s wrist, Elias doesn’t pull away, but instead he holds Aiden in a protective manner.)
Aiden Hayes
Aiden: (barely breathing) "Do you think they know we’re here?"
Elias Rivers
Elias: (whispering) "Only one way to find out."
(The storage locker handle rattles. Then it starts to turn.)
