Meaning Of Marriage
The sunlight peeked through the window.
She just sat quietly on her bed. She was hungry, but didn't want to face her aunt again.
But, missing her breakfast schedule will make her more uncomfortable and anxious.
Suddenly, keeping up with her schedule was more important than facing her aunt.
She started jolting down ideas in her mind. Trying to find a solution. A solution that'll help her get out of her aunt's grasp.
Thinking about Isleen. Her kind cousin, living abroad for her studies.
She thought she'd wait for her. But, it wasn't logical given to the situation.

Marriage *murmurs*
She mused thinking of the unfamiliar word her aunt has been repeating like a parrot since day one.
Her thoughts, however, were scattered. The conversation she overheard last night—her aunt talking about "marriage" and "what to do with her"—kept playing on a loop in her mind.
She didn’t understand it.
Marriage was a word she had heard often, but it had always been abstract to her.
And why was it such a problem that no one wanted to marry her?
Suddenly, her stomach growled softly. Her body, like clock work reminding her of her breakfast schedule.

*looks at the clock*

Exactly 15 minutes before breakfast *murmurs*
The house was quiet as she walked downstairs to the kitchen.
Her aunt, probably sleeping soundly after last night's episode. Looks like she's not in the mood to make breakfast today.
Her uncle, though short-tempered is a very punctual man. He wakes up at sharp 5 am. Gets ready and leaves for office without breakfast.
She entered the kitchen, her footsteps light against the kitchen floor.

*opens the fridge*

Nothing edible *flatly*
She wasn't expecting the fridge filled with food. But she wasn't expecting this either.
She took an egg and made herself a simple breakfast of egg fry and toast.
Exactly, at 9 am she starts eating. Counting every minute and seconds in her mind unconsciously.
Her daily schedule works in a rhythm, in a pattern she has grown used to.
Only if life wasn't so unexpected, only if life moved in a pattern she's used to.

Marriage... *mumbles softly*
Her mind spinning with confusion.
Was it something she had to do?
Was it the only way to escape?
Astria Rodrigues (FL)
Is marriage an escape or a trap? *mused aloud*
A sudden thought occurred in her mind... maybe.. just maybe... the old man in the park would know the meaning of "marriage".
