Her Fault
A heavy blanket of silence that hung over the house.
She sat on the edge of her bed, the dim light casting long shadows on the walls. Her mind still raced with the events of the day—the cruel words.
The feeling of being invisible, like a mistake that everyone wished would disappear.
She could hear her aunt’s voice drifting through the hallway. Low, but sharp and full of disgust.
Her aunt was speaking to someone in the house. Probably her uncle who has just arrived home from work.
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
I don’t know what to do with her anymore, Justin *sighs*
Justin Maverick (FL Uncle)
Did she upset you again? *sits on the couch loosening his tie*
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
Ask me what she didn't do *rolls eyes*
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
She can’t even take care of herself. No one will ever marry her, and I can’t have her here forever. No one would want to.
Justin Maverick (FL Uncle)
*sighs rubbing his temple*
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
Who would take her off my hands? <bitterly>
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
Who would marry a girl like that? No one. Not with her condition. She’s just a burden.
Justin Maverick (FL Uncle)
I didn't come home from work only to hear you complaining about that freak!! <annoyed>
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
Do you think you're the only one who's tired and needs rest??💢💢
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
I also take care of that freak everyday💢💢
Justin Maverick (FL Uncle)
For once Mayra! For once let me be in peace and don't start a fight💢
Mayra Maverick (FL Aunt)
A fight? Did you just say I always start a fight? <pissed>
Honestly, it has almost become a ritual for her aunt and uncle to fight almost everyday.
And the reason of their fight, is always
She covered her ears from the noise. Her aunt and uncle were arguing loudly. There was even sound of something breaking.
She curled up with her blanket, praying for the noise to just stop.
It's always been like this, them fighting, and uncle raising his hand on aunt again.
She could hear her uncle slapping her aunt across the face. The sound echoed throughout the hallway.
A a moment of silence. Then the painful screams of her aunt echoed. And her uncle shouting in anger. She knew this would go on for another hour.
Justine, her uncle was quite a short tempered man. But this didn't stop Mayra from arguing with him even if she had to face his wrath later.
Sounds of crying, wailing, whimpering was suffocating the air.
And she couldn't help but feel like everything was Her Fault.
