EPISODE 3

continuation:

As soon as the words left his lips, Silas felt a pang of regret. He had spoken out of anger and skepticism, but now that the words were out, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he had just made a grave mistake.

Aurora's face had crumpled, and she had turned to run, but Silas's words had cut deep. He knew he had hurt her, and a part of him felt guilty for it.

But as he watched Aurora disappear into the night, Silas's mind began to wander back to the conversation they had just had. He thought about Layla, about the memories they had shared, about the love they had once had.

And then, like a spark of electricity, a thought occurred to him. What if Aurora was telling the truth? What if Layla was really alive?

Silas's heart skipped a beat as he considered the possibility. He had thought he had closed the chapter on Layla's death, but now, he wasn't so sure.

He thought back to the car bomb, to the funeral, to the months of grief that had followed. But what if it had all been a lie? What if Layla had somehow survived, and was still out there, waiting for him?

The thought sent a shiver down Silas's spine. He felt a mix of emotions: hope, excitement, fear. What if he had been wrong all along? What if Layla was still alive?

Silas's mind was racing now, his thoughts tumbling over each other. He knew he had to find out the truth. He had to know if Layla was really alive.

And with that, Silas made a decision. He would find Aurora, and he would make her tell him everything she knew. He would leave no stone unturned, no question unasked.

He would find out the truth about Layla, no matter what it took.

Silas quickly turned around and followed the direction Aurora had taken, his long strides eating up the distance. He finally caught up to her a few blocks away, where she was standing under a flickering streetlight, her shoulders shaking with sobs.

"Aurora, wait," Silas said, his voice softer now, filled with regret.

Aurora spun around, her eyes blazing with tears and anger. "Leave me alone, Silas," she spat. "You've made it clear how you feel."

Silas took a step closer, his hands held out in a calming gesture. "Aurora, I'm sorry. I was wrong to speak to you like that. Please, just hear me out."

Aurora's gaze faltered, and she looked away, her shoulders still shaking with sobs. Silas took another step closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Tell me everything," he said. "Tell me what you know about Layla."

Aurora's head snapped up, her eyes locking onto Silas's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the only sound the distant hum of the city.

Then, in a voice barely above a whisper, Aurora spoke:

"I'll tell you everything," she said. "But you have to promise me one thing."

"What's that?" Silas asked, his heart racing with anticipation.

Aurora's eyes seemed to bore into his soul.

"You have to promise me you'll protect Aria," she said. "No matter what happens, you have to keep her safe."

Silas's mind reeled as he processed Aurora's words. Who was Aria? And why did Aurora want him to protect her?

But before he could ask any questions, Aurora's eyes seemed to glaze over, and she spoke in a flat, detached tone.

"Aria is my daughter," she said. "And she's in danger. Just like Layla."

Silas's world went dark.

Silas's mind was reeling. Aurora had a daughter? And she was in danger? He felt like he had been punched in the gut.

"What do you mean?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady. "What's going on?"

Aurora's eyes snapped back into focus, and she looked around nervously. "We can't talk here," she said. "It's not safe. Follow me."

Silas nodded, and Aurora took off down the street, her heels clicking on the pavement. Silas followed her, his mind racing with questions.

Where were they going? What was going on? And who was Aria?

As they walked, the streets became increasingly deserted. They finally stopped in front of a nondescript apartment building, and Aurora pushed open the door.

"Come on," she said. "We'll be safe here."

Silas followed her into the building, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. They walked up several flights of stairs, and Aurora finally stopped in front of a door.

She pushed it open, and Silas saw a small, cozy apartment. There was a playpen in the corner, and a little girl was sleeping inside.

Aurora walked over to the playpen and gently picked up the child. "This is Aria," she said. "My daughter."

Silas's heart melted as he looked at the little girl. She was tiny, with curly brown hair and big green eyes. She looked like a miniature version of Aurora.

As he looked at Aria, Silas felt a surge of protectiveness. He knew he would do anything to keep her safe.

But as he looked at Aurora, he saw the fear in her eyes. And he knew that something was very wrong.

"What's going on, Aurora?" he asked. "What's happening to Aria?"

Aurora's eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head. "I'll tell you everything," she said. "But you have to promise me you'll protect Aria. No matter what happens."

Silas nodded, his heart heavy with foreboding. He knew that he was getting into something much bigger than he had ever imagined.
